998. High Fructose Corn Syrup: It Ain't Pretty

THE DOCTOR IS IN Podcast

Dr. Martin looks at a new study on high fructose corn syrup and cancer. Cancer needs fuel to grow and it turns out that HFCS is the perfect fuel since it’s already in liquid form. Join Dr. Martin to learn more!

TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone, and once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great start to your day. Let's talk about a brand new study. It's not good news. Not good news for high fructose corn syrup. Now you guys know that over the years, what have I said about that sugar, that manmade in a laboratory sugar, it is the anti Christ of sugars. High fructose corn syrup is bad news. And one of the problems with it is that they hide it. The food industry is not telling the truth. And there's a big difference between sucrose, glucose, and fructose. And the fact is, high fructose corn syrup, because it's a syrup, because it's in a liquid form, metabolically is a disaster. Now this new study is particularly troubling because of cancer. Okay? Now you must admit I'm consistent. Cancer needs fuel, okay? Cancer needs fuel and cancer loves sugar.

You got that? How do we know that to be true? Well, when they invented the PET scan, not for your pets, imaging specifically for cancer, what do they give you before you get that imaging? What do you get? You get a cup or intravenously glucose, they give you sugar. Why is that? Because sugar will in nanoseconds head to cancer. Why cancer saying, come here, I love that fuel. Okay? Some people argue with that. I, I just don't understand it in this day and age. But the bad news just keeps on coming because high fructose corn syrup is sugar on steroids. Notice the word fructose. Okay? Now, most people, most people, when you hear fructose, I remember this is years ago, I got into a little discussion with a dietician who was working for the high fructose corn syrup industry. She was actually employed by them.

And she said, it's fructose, Dr. Martin, it's fructose. That's why it's good for you. I said, I disagree with that because it's an artificial thing. Now, God meant you to eat fruit, not drinking. Well, doc, I'm not drinking fruit. Well, if you get anything by the food industry, when they add sugar from soda to crackers, they using high fructose corn syrup. Why is that one, it's very cheap. Okay? It's very cheap. Now you guys know me enough that I love history, right? I love nutritional history, okay? And it's funny when you read history about obesity, I mean there was always some obesity around it. It was such a small percentage of the population. I used to say people that were obese when I was a kid were in the circus. You know, it was almost like when you did see it, it was almost strange to see.

And the reason I bring it up is because why do we see so much obesity today? There's a reason. What's changed? What's changed? It's, there's sugar. Now flowers changed. And I mean, they changed the fat. They changed everything. But one of the things that, I wanna focus on this because of a new study that came up is high fructose corn syrup is liquified and you can put it in crackers and it makes the shelf life, okay? Because you can't just put sugar in something to preserve it. They use hydrogenated oil, which is vegetable oils, right? Solidified hydrogenated. But even worse, I don't know if I should say this even worse, is high fructose corn syrup. And it's terrible metabolically. It's one of the biggest reasons we see so much insulin resistance. Now, I'll come back to that. But let me just tell you about this new study.

They're saying that high fructose corn syrup is one of the main drivers of new and very prevalent cancers. Okay? There's four cancers that are outta control today, okay? Bowel cancer. Colorectal cancer is outta control today. The numbers have skyrocketed. And especially amongst young people, younger people see, colorectal cancer was old people got that cancer. Not anymore. Young people. Number two, breast cancer. I don't care if you wanna wear pink, I don't care if you want to give your money to cancer research, that's up to you. But all I'm saying is where's the bang for the buck? We got more breast cancer, more colon cancer, pancreatic cancer. These things are majorly on the rise.

And fourthly, liver cancer, which used to be a rare cancer, I mean, people used to get cirrhosis of the liver, but not liver cancer. Not that it didn't exist, of course it's always existed. But guys, all I'm telling you is statistically it is gone crazy. Colorectal cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer. Now the number one killer is still lung cancer. And even though we got the memo not to smoke, but these other cancers that I talked to you about, and this is where this study was talking about, is what drives these cancers. Why are they so prevalent today?

And here's the culprit. High fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup. Yep. The anti-Christ of sugars, it's metabolized much differently. Guns, it's so addictive. Do you know that high fructose corn syrup takes the same root to your feel good center of your brain, the addictive center of your brain? That's cocaine. I remember a, a patient of mine who told me they were hooked on cocaine. And this fella was telling me about it would be nothing for him to rob his grandma. He said, doc, listen to me when you are hooked on cocaine, he said, you'll do anything to have another fix, anything. And he said, sometimes it cost me, uh, I mean, they were dealing in drugs. He robbed anything he could rob, because sometimes that habit would cost him $10,000 a day.

But guys, we have a new addiction. It's killing us. And the food industry, they've created a monster. And you know, every day we talk about metabolic syndrome. Every day we talk about 93% of the population. It used to be 88 as late as 2016. And here we are in 2022 at the end of it. And now we're told that it's up to 93% of the population have some form of metabolic syndrome. But folks are just, uh, you know, metabolic syndrome for people. Ah, what's that mean? Listen, there's nothing that drives cancer. More cancer's not genetics. It's a small percentage. Genetics, it's a small percentage. And, and, and medicine has spent time and energy to find medication to win the war on cancer. Guys, that's looking for love in all the wrong places. Cancer is a metabolic disease. It needs fuel. It's driven by bad fuel.

Cancer are like teenagers. They want a fix of sugar. And the worst sugar is this high fructose corn syrup. And what they're showing is cancer, okay? Grows to start in a low oxygen environment, okay? Fructose, high fructose corn syrup helps with that. And then when cancer has started to develop, it creates its own blood supply. It creates its own blood vessels to go to the tumor. And high fructose corn syrup fuels new blood supply for the tumor. And the tumor grows. Grows. It needs fuel, my friend, it needs fuel. And that's why, look, there's no guarantees, okay? In life and I, you know, you can be the best eater in all of the world. And that doesn't necessarily mean you're never going to get struck with cancer or whatever. But the research guys is overwhelming. But you know when you don't wanna see it and you don't want to hear it, that's what the pharmaceutical industry is up to.

That's what the food industry is up to. They're in cahoots together, it's an unholy alliance and they run everything. So it's, it's hard to people, oh well, you know, eat in moderation. And you still hear dieticians today and some nutritional gurus, well, your brain needs some sugar. You know, you gotta have some. No, you don't. And one of the things with the reset, are you all ready <laugh> for January 2nd, the reset, one of the things the reset does, it just gets you off sugar. You're gonna go cold Turkey on sugar, no sugar. Well, there's no cars, but there's no sugar. You have no idea how good metabolically that is for a person. It is anti-cancer, anti heart disease, anti Alzheimer's, anti obviously diabetes, obviously. And guys, we're just working along with your body. When you realize how your body operates, one of the main drivers, I always say this about cancer, cuz people ask me all the time, doc, what would you do?

Okay, what would you do? Because look, I tell people this all the time. Look, I'm not your doctor. You know, I'm giving advice in general, but here's me, okay, here's me, here's my theory. There are two growth hormones. One of them is insulin. Insulin is a growth hormone. It makes things grow. Okay? How do you think you get fatty liver? What do fat cells respond to insulin? They make things grow. Insulin number two, estrogen. Yes, your womanly hormone. And guys, when they talk about breast cancer, okay? Being one of the four main, really increasing in terms of numbers, I always say this, whenever you see breast cancer, for men, it's prostate cancer, okay? For men, it's prostate. The prostate in men and breast in women are identical, really identical cancers.

And here's a little saying of mine, I don't care. And I mean this, I don't care if any physician at all tells a woman or a man that cancer, breast cancer, oh, your cells are not receptive to estrogen. Okay? They do a test and they say, oh, it's not estrogen positive. Who cares? Of course it is. You're a woman. Estrogen makes things grow. That's why you're a woman. That's why a woman has a higher fat percentage than a man. Well, not all men <laugh>. No, but you know what I mean. You don't want a woman to be a 8% body fat or whatever. Even as an athlete, they have more fat storage than a man. And guys, okay? I'm sorry. There are only two sexes, okay?

A man and a woman, okay? And hormonally, it's different. But when it comes to cancer, it's the same two hormones. Insulin is food. You only use insulin when you eat. Why do we see so much pancreatic cancer? I wonder, do you think your pancreas was ever made for that much sugar? And remember what your pancrea does, I mean, does a lot of things. But here's its main job. Make insulin. Pancreas job is to make insulin. And when people insist on eating crappy carbs, and especially high fructose corn syrup, which is the sugar of choice of the food industry, your pancreas goes crazy because it cannot allow sugar to stay in the bloodstream. It can't. It just can't. So it works, works, works, works, works. Secretes, secretes, secretes, secretes more and more insulin to do the job. Sugar get the heck out of the bloodstream. Can't stay there, it can't park there. But you see, insulin is a growth hormone. So is estrogen. And now we have put those two hormones into overdrive. And to me, it's not that complicated. To me, cancer's not that complicated. Now, I know there's rare cancers and this and that, I understand all that. Okay? But I'm talking in generalities today. I observe folks, observe when someone is obese. And that's over 50% of the population. 80% of the population are overweight in North America. Eight 50 are obese, classified as obese. What has obesity got to do with driving cancer?

Insulin, estrogen. The more fact cells you have, the more inflammation, the more fact cells you have, the more estrogen. Estrogen fuels them in a lot of ways. Insulin fuels them. And so for me, I'm very simplistic. I really am. I always tell people this, okay, if you are a friend or a family member, have cancer, okay? I'm not talking about medical treatment here, I'm not talking about that, okay? Because most people, they're gonna get medical treatment. They got cancer. But I'm talking about here's what you should do no matter what. If you get the diagnosis of cancer or you, or a loved one or a friend or whatever, get the diagnosis of cancer. Here's Dr. Martin's recipe. Simple recipe. Stop. Sugar. No more sugar at all. None. Na, I used to get cancer patients. Nah, for the next two or three months, you're not even having any fruit.

An apple a day will not keep the doctor away. Look, fruit are God's candies, okay? Fruit are God's candy. But we live in a different world today. You and I live in a different world, okay? I mean, one thing for sure, you used to eat fruit seasonally, okay? And I'm not against fruit, okay? It's just, I'm sort of pulling your leg a little bit because people say, doc, do you eat fruit? I love fruit, but don't live on it. And if you have cancer, if a friend has cancer, whatever, eh, I would be very, very, very reticent because of what fructose does. God gave us candies, but not many. And if you have cancer, I recommend none. None, none at all. You know, do the reset. And we don't love fruit on the reset for a reason. Okay? But again, I'm very simplistic. It's not that complicated because I'm aiming, I'm aiming.

No insulin are very little Insulin. Insulin will drive the cancer fructose especially will drive cancer. It'll make it grow. So don't give it any fuel. Don't give it the hormone insulin. And then the other thing that I always tell 'em to do is block estrogen. What? Yeah, block estrogen. It's a growth hormone. And we live in a crazy estrogen world. Every chemical, every chemical is estrogen. Your body thinks it's estrogen. Why do you think we see so much breast cancer today? So much prostate cancer in men. Men get prostate cancer the same way women get breast cancer. It's insulin and estrogen. And remember, fat cells secrete estrogen. And estrogen makes fat cells. Ooh, you can't win for losing. Okay? So I'm very simplistic. I really am cut out the fructose all of block that estrogen. That's why I love dim. Our hormonal formula was created for that.

And I've shown you, you know, before and after pictures of blocking estrogen, I used to take pictures of estrogen on women and men. I saw a lot of men with more estrogen than their wives. Let me tell you that. Seriously. And we used to block it. Block it, block insulin. You know, like I said, I'm not talking about the other side and their treatment. You do whatever you think is right, whatever you think is right. But oncologists are fixated on that. They're not talking prevention, they're not talking about food. They don't know anything about food. So you block estrogen, you block insulin, the two growth hormones, you rev up your immune system. I read an article again yesterday on the importance of vitamin D, the importance of vitamin D in cancer, guys. It's incredible. And people are scared. Skinny of the sun and people are scared. Skinny of vitamin D. Oh, my Dr. Martin, it's fat soluble. Who cares?

You need vitamin D. Your T-cell have solar panels attached to them. They're looking for vitamin D to activate. And T-cells are your navy seals that go after cancer cells. I know it sounds simplistic, but it's true. You need vitamin D. And then of course, you know, we brought to you, and you can go on podcasts, look for high DHA and the and the research on that Omega-3, what it does to destroy tumors, incredible healthy fat, the long chain fatty acid. So that's me. That's what I love. You might as well eat properly. What is an anti-cancer diet? Well, it certainly includes red meat. Ooh, I hate that. Cancer hates steak. Okay? Cancer hates steak. Steak doesn't fuel cancer. Carbs, sugary carbs do fructose. The high fructose monster that the man has made, man always thinks they're smarter than God. You're never meant to drink fructose. And they made a liquid high fructose corn syrup. Yikes.

I got excited. <laugh>. Okay guys, we love you dearly. I haven't told you that, have I? Okay, now remember, we're getting all wound up to start the reset, okay? We're getting all wound up. You can join in, get on our private Facebook group and tell everyone we're going to keep ourselves accountable, okay? Monday, January the second, and we'll start every week after that if you want. Okay? But this is the best thing you can do for yourself. Make it a New Year's resolution, okay? As we wind down in 2022, guys, love you. Talk to you, sir.
