596. Sugar and Colorectal Cancer

THE DOCTOR IS IN Podcast

Did you know that colorectal cancer is the fastest growing cancer in women, next only to breast cancer? That’s a 30% uptick in the last few years, and that's just in women, nevermind men!

We have a war going on in our gut between our good and bad bacteria. When that microbiome gets disrupted and then you add sugar and crappy carbs to the mix, you’re actually feeding an invasive army.

Whether or not you have cancer, or the makings for cancer, Dr. Martin wants you to focus on getting your diet right. You can't control what’s happening around you, but you can surely control what you put in your mouth everyday!

TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone. Once again, welcome to another Live. Hope you're having a great day, great start to your day as we bring you the news behind the health news. So guys, let me read this. It says... colorectal cancer is linked to insulin resistance, okay? So we'll develop this here. Sugar in the diet, especially sugar-sweetened drinks have increased colorectal cancer by 16 to 32% in the last few years. Here is the headline, sugar in the diet, especially sugar drinks. It's amazing to me in this day and age that we have people still drinking soda. To me, that's cancer in a can or in a bottle.

I was talking to yesterday, or at least we were messaging because she was on our private Facebook group asking about cancer. I guess she's dealing with cancer and she says, "Dr. Martin, aren't you a little simplistic in your protocol for cancer?" Yeah, it's simplistic. I agree. It is. I mean, I always used to tell my patients, "If you have cancer, for example, or whatever, and I thought hanging you upside down from a roof would help you, I'd go there and hold your feet." I mean that. By the way, it was mentioned this morning that one of the biggest side effects of our whole focus, especially here in Canada, on the virus, what they're saying is, they're saying in the next few years, and I'll get that headline to give you the exact code, but it says they're going to miss over 300,000, in Canada alone, 300,000 cancer cases. They're going to miss them because cancer, unless you have a heart attack, they're putting that aside because of the virus.

I've been upset about that because medical officers of health, and God love them, I mean, this is a gift for them. It's a virus. They go to school and they focus in on what do we do if there's ever a pandemic. Okay, you guys, whether right, wrong or whatever, all I know is that you got other diseases. You got cancer, you got cardiovascular disease, you have diabetes. You can hardly get a hold of doctors anymore or whatever. Again, I'm mentioned more in Canada and it bugs me. But anyway, coming back to the conversation yesterday, "Well, doc, I mean, it's simplistic. Your protocol is simplistic." Yeah. It's not that complicated. It's not expensive.

Look, if you got the cancer diagnosis and you want to run to Mexico to get alternative treatment, I'm not going to discourage you at all, at all, at all. Whatever you think is right, manage your body and it's your money. You do whatever you think is right. All I do is I unpack what I know. I unpack it. Like I've been telling you for years now, years, very consistent, is that cancer needs fuel. Cancer needs fuel. Cancer is like a teenager. The cells are like teenagers and they want sugar all the time, our kids. If you don't believe that's true, that cancer needs fuel, I've always rested my case on a few things. But primarily is in technology, cancer technology, we have one here in Sudbury, it's called a PET scan, P-E-T. It's not for your pets. It's to detect cancer. That's what they use it for.

Before they put you in the machine to get imaging, they give you a cup of radioactive glucose sugar. Why? Why don't they give you a cup of water? Why don't they give you a cup of milk? But they give you a cup of radioactive glucose. You know why? Because glucose goes right to the cancer, whether it's in your brains or in your toes, and you light up like a Christmas tree in the PET scan. I'm always someone that likes true or false, okay? So when I preach, I say, "Is that true or false?" So I remember this is several years ago, maybe three or four years ago, whatever, I asked an oncologist that on a conversation on the telephone. I said, "True or false, what do you use glucose for sugar to detect cancer in the PET scan, true or false?" She said, "True." I said, "Well, I rest my case."

Diet is very important if you are fighting cancer, whether you're taking radiation, whether you're taking chemo, whether you're doing alternative treatment, whether you're doing whatever you think is right, or whatever the doctor's recommending, one thing for sure, one thing for sure, cut the stinking sugars out of your diet. I know a lot of people, "Oh no. I mean, I need my sugar, man. I don't feel good." Yeah, I know, but you're feeding cancer cells, especially when you drink it. Because that's why they give you a drink of radioactive glucose before the PET scan. This study is showing colorectal cancer.

Now, let me just tell you a little bit about colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is the fastest growing, in terms of numbers, the fastest growing cancer in women only second to breast cancer. Every time I get someone that ask me to donate to the cancer society, I have to remind myself that these people are just volunteers. Doc, calm down. Don't lecture them. They don't know any better. Look, guys. I'm not telling you don't give to the cancer societies. I'm not telling you that. For me, I want to ask them two questions. One, where is the money going? Is it going to research or is it going to fund salaries and marketing?

Well, this is public knowledge. You can go to, for example, the Canadian Cancer Society, go to their website. They're a charitable foundation. They must provide their finances, their books. They must provide them. It's under law in Canada. I'm sure it is in the States too. You can find out where the money goes to. Less than what, 5% goes to research. The rest goes to salaries and marketing. So they can market to raise your money so they can pay their salaries, okay? So that's one. Number two. I asked them, "Can I go to your website?" Canadian Cancer Society or the Breast Cancer Society or the Colorectal Cancer Society or whatever cancer society it is, okay? There's the general one and then they have different associations or societies. Is there anything there about food? Is there anything there about food? Of course, they don't know the answer, but I do. No, there's not. As a matter of fact, if you get the diagnosis of cancer and I know this for a fact here in our hometown Sudbury, which has a big cancer center. The oncologist won't talk to you for a nanosecond about nutrition. They don't see the significance of it, but they might refer you to a dietician.

In all due respect, in our cancer center here in Sudbury, I'm just going to tell you what ours is like. I don't know what yours is like. But they have Tim Hortons and they got donuts and muffins like, "Oh doc, it's a carrot muffin." Yeah, with eight teaspoons of sugar in it. In a doughnut, you got more than that. Then if you happen to get to a dietician, they'll tell you to eat from Canada's Food Guide. Ooh. What they're telling you, don't eat too much red meat because that's going to really make your cancer grow and make sure you're having enough carbohydrates. Ah, I mean, they tell you the things too, like fruits and vegetables. No fruit if you got cancer.

Anyway, colorectal cancer is going crazy. Your gut, to get gut cancer, why does that happen? Well, I'm going to give you my take on it. You get colorectal cancer not because of a lack of fiber. It's just the opposite of that. It starts when you have in that war in your gut, remember there's two armies there, your good bacteria, bad bacteria called your microbiome. When that gets disrupted with the use of antibiotics, with the use of steroids, with the use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatories like Advil or whatever, with all the chemicals in our society today that make their way to your gut. Then you add sugar and now you're feeding your invasive army called yeast or fungus.

Now, you have the makings for cancer. You have the makings for cancer. This is why they're saying that colorectal cancer is increasing hundredfold compared to what it used to be and they're linking it to our diets. So when someone tells me, "Doc, you're simplistic." Yeah. I'm pretty simplistic. I admit it. But you can get the most extravagant treatment in the world, and if that's what you want, hey, go for it. But you better fix your diet. You better get off the sugars. You better get off those crappy carbohydrates that are going to be sugars in five seconds. So I am simplistic, 100%. I don't want you to do 50 things. I want you to focus in on getting your diet right.

Cancer hates steak. It hates it because it doesn't feed it. Cancer hates steak. So I tell people, "You got to fix your diet." Then of course I'm big on... You know me, I'm big on probiotics. For cancer, doc? Yeah. Well, yeah, for sure. You need to replace that microbiome. You need to get bacteria fighting on your side. Good guys who are fighting to get rid of candida. First of all, don't feed it. Don't give it any fuel. Second of all, go out to destroy it. It's why I love probiotics. It's why I love oil of oregano. It's not expensive. I'm a simple guy. These are things at the root cause of these cancers. Got to get rid of it.

Of course, you know me, if you have low levels of vitamin D, 100% proven, it is an enormous factor with your immune system. Is there ever a week or hardly a day goes by that I don't talk to you about vitamin D? Linus Pauling, because somebody asked me yesterday, "Doc, what do I think about vitamin C?" You mean coffee? Oh, the other vitamin C? Well, Linus Pauling won a Nobel Prize in the 1970s. He actually lectured at our school. Very smart man, very smart. He talked about therapeutic doses of vitamin C and I was all ears. But for me, Linus Pauling only missed out by one letter in the alphabet. He said C, I say D. Look, vitamin D is so well established for your immune system.

You see, I try and tell patients that are fighting any type of cancer, "Man, you got to get your immune system going. Your little T cells have an antenna for vitamin D and you better supercharge those T cells and your natural killer cells, NK, natural killer cells because they're going to go after your cancer cells." Your body guys is fearfully and wonderfully made. God gave you an immune system. It drives me batty when we don't talk about the immune system when it comes to a virus or it comes to cancer. Why aren't they talking about that? Vitamin D. No sugar.

Let me just say this. I'm going to read to you a study, came out this morning. 50% of Americans, half the population, have more depression or more anxiety in the last year. Okay, why am I talking about that? 50%. Canada? No different. You wouldn't believe how many people I've talked to that are just down. They're stressed. They're not sleeping. They are depressed. It's unbelievable. It is an epidemic today. I've talked to you about it before, but here's the connection I'm going to make for you. When you are depressed, when you are stressed, when you are lonely, I tell people the unintended consequences of lockdowns and people not getting together. I'm a huge guy on getting together. We need each other.

When people can't see their family or whatever, and you can talk on the phone, that's all right, but it's not the same, guys. They've proven that. Humans need touch. Humans need each other. When you're lonely and when you're depressed and when you have anxiety, you know what happens inside your body? You secrete a hormone called cortisol and cortisol is the fight or flight hormone. You got fear. You have loneliness. You have anxiety. You have depression. 100% this happens. Your cortisol levels go through the roof because you're ready to fight. You're angry. You're upset inside. Blood pressure goes up. Blood sugar goes up. Your heart rate goes up because your body is getting you ready to fight.

The problem with that is, 100% true, your immune system takes a beating. Your immune system takes a beating. What happens when your cortisol goes up? Your T cells, your natural killer cells go down. See, cortisol, you're getting ready to fight. You're not thinking about an infection. You're not thinking about cancer. You're all messed up inside. Your cortisol suppresses your immune system. This is why I've been screaming like John the Baptist. Hello world. World, wake up. We are going to have a lot more cancer. We're going to have a lot more problems because we've turned our focus and we put it only on one thing.

I'm not saying that without statistics. I'm telling you, this is what's happening. We've been hijacked by the medical officers of health. Hijacked. Even the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario, for example, they told doctors to shut up. We don't want you going against... I can't believe it. Why is cancer not important? Why isn't mental health important? Anyway. When I read that colorectal cancer in women is starting to catch up to breast cancer. Now, we're not winning the war on cancer. We're losing the war on cancer because nobody's talking about sugar and no one is talking about vitamin D and no one is talking about stress in our lives that suppress the immune system, that make us much more susceptible.

Folks, listen to me. Listen, Linda, listen. I'm going to say something very important, okay? You can't control what's going out in the world out there. You just can't. You can't control it. I have to talk to myself about this. Doc, you can't control it. Relax. But one thing you can control. Because some of us like to control things. You can't control everything in life. I can't control the government. I can't control it, okay? But you can control what you put in your mouth everyday. True or false? That's a true statement.

Here's another true statement. There isn't any one of us, me and you, that doesn't fight cancer every day. Every day, 365 days of the year, you and I fight cancer. You have cancer cells, kamikaze pilots, bad teenagers within your body every day. Every day, every day you fight cancer. You don't wait till you get the diagnosis of cancer. Because you know me in illustrations, okay? I got a pen here. See it? The tip of the pen, see that? Cancer to grow to the size of a tip of a pen takes five years, five years to grow to that size. You see, and medicine is focused in on early detection of cancer.

But if they find something on your colonoscopy for colorectal or breast cancer or whatever and they find a tumor and whatever, that's been there a long time. I'm not so much into early detection. I'm into prevention. Let's prevent it from proliferating. Let's prevent it from growing at a microscopic level cancer cell. That's me. That is why as long as you have known me, I have preached your immune system. That's what you need to take care of is your immune system. God's gift to you in your body. But you must take care of it. You must take care of your immune system. That's why to me, I've broken it down. I brought a book several years ago now called Are You Built For Cancer? We should republish that book, I think. Are You Built For Cancer?

But I talked about that and talked about the things I'm talking to you about even this morning, because when I see a statistic like that, that we've seen in the last couple of years a 30%, up to 30% uptick of colorectal cancer, and that's just in women, nevermind men. Guys, we're not winning the war. We're losing the war because we're looking for love in all the wrong places. That's me. I'm convinced of it. We're not focusing in where we need to focus in on. Okay, I'm done my rant for today. Okay.

Guys, thanks again. Now, I just mentioned it. Number one selling, pick it up. I think it's on sale, okay? The Reset Book. I tell you guys, you can read all the testimonies, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people, of how their bodies have changed with The Metabolic Reset, an eating program. You got to eat anyways. You have to eat anyways. Might as well eat. Take 30 days and trust me. 30 days of your life. Give the Martin Clinic 30 days of your life. Trust for 30 day. It'll change your life. It'll change your life. It will supercharge your immune system. Yeah. Okay, enough preaching. Love you guys. Talk to you soon.
