TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning, everyone. And once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a wonderful start to your day. Now, I just want because I get asked this question a lot.

Okay, I get asked this question a lot. What do I have in my hand? An orange, a piece of orange. Okay.

A piece of orange. So if anybody says to you, Dr. Martin doesn't like fruits and vegetables. Don't put words in my mouth.

Because that's not true. Okay. Does Dr. Martin ever eat from the plant kingdom?

Yes, he does. Okay. Now, I got to tell you, I prefer eggs, meat, and cheese. Eggs, meat, and cheese.

And the reason I do is the animal kingdom is far superior in terms of nutritional profile compared to the plant kingdom. Now, I know you're going to hear different. You'll hear different every day. I'm just telling you.

First day of nutrition, you learn that. The plant kingdom is secondary to the animal kingdom in terms of nutritional quality. It's not even close. Okay.

But do I like? Here's some rules. Okay. And again, this is a lot of repetition.

I got a slice of orange because I got asked this yesterday and I said, I'm going to go over it again. Okay. When you eat an orange, an apple, God wanted you to eat fruit. Don't drink it.

And don't get it in a syrup. Here's what. Okay. I'm not going to do it in front of you, but let's say I was eating this orange.

Big difference between eating an orange and drinking orange juice. Why? It's what happens, guys, in the small intestine. Okay.

The way you eat a fruit, it's a slower process. Goes through the small intestine. Things happens in your stomach first, but then into your small intestine, it's delayed. Okay.

The delay is good. Taking the nutrients out of it, the vitamin C out of it, sending it into your bloodstream. Okay. The other vitamin C, ascorbic acid.

Okay. It slows the process down when you're eating it. Now, when you're drinking it, it's like alcohol, guys. When you drink it, it makes a beeline to the liver.

It's like monopoly. Don't pass go. And that processing is completely different. Okay.

Anybody, you don't have to be a medical doctor to know that alcohol causes cirrhosis of the liver. If you get cirrhosis, alcoholics get cirrhosis. Why is that? Well, alcohol gets processed immediately in the liver.

It don't pass go either. And when you drink fruit juice or you consume high fructose corn syrup, which is the sugar of choice in almost everything in the aisles of your grocery store, they add it to everything. Well, guess what? That makes a beeline because it's a syrup.

It makes a beeline to your liver. Okay. That's the difference. And I've been saying this guys for 40 years, 50 years, like a long time.

It's different. And when you hear that orange juice is the number one drink in North America, and now today the young people, they're into these lattes and sugary drinks and iced teas. I get a migraine guys. They have no idea what they're doing to themselves.

You might as well be drinking alcohol just about. Now I know there's other effects of alcohol too. Okay. But I'm telling you, and when I was in practice for, it wasn't until the mid 2000s that we started to see fatty liver in children.

What? Fatty liver in children. You're kidding me. That's not possible.

And by the way, if you look at my medical books, to the right of me here, when I was in school, fatty liver, there was no fatty liver. There was cirrhosis of the liver, but not fatty liver. It wasn't even a condition that we talked about. I never studied fatty liver.

I know what it is, but I never studied it. Nobody got fatty liver. And it wasn't like when I was a kid that I didn't have cookies and ice cream. Okay.

Like my grandchildren say, grandpa, when were you born again? In the days of Noah. Okay. But we had cookies and I didn't have high fructose corn syrup, the antichrist of sugars that goes directly to the liver.

To the liver. That is a big problemo. And what happens in the liver doesn't stay in the liver. That's the problem too.

When the liver gets gummed up with fat, the Costco parking lot gets full. Okay. I was a kid. I was a kid.

I was a kid. I was a kid. I was a kid. I was a kid.

I was a kid. Okay. I was at Costco the other day. Okay.

And I always start to laugh because guess what? I got there early. And guess what? The parking lot was full.

I said, don't people sleep in? The second it's open, the parking lot is full. And it reminds me of people's livers today. Full of fat caused by sugar.

Sugar causes fat. High fructose corn syrup causes fat. Crappy carbs cause fat in the liver. Okay.

Fat don't cause your liver to be fat. Sugar does. And things that turn to sugar rapidly. When you eat a piece of bread, it turns to sugar in nanoseconds.

And guess what? If your body doesn't use that as energy, insulin comes sweeping in to the blood and says, you can't part, can't part, can't part, get out, get out, get out. You can't park here. You can't park in the blood stream.

You're going to destroy blood vessels. You're in a no parking zone. Come with me to the liver. And when the liver gets gummed up, guess what happens now?

Like I said, what happens in the liver? Don't stay in the liver. Because if the liver gets gummed up, you know what your body does? You know what your liver does?

It sends that extra fat out as triglycerides. Fat ball. And that affects your blood vessels. It clogs up.

It's one of the things that clogs up blood vessels are triglycerides. Because when triglycerides are high, you usually get the teeter totter effect of HDL because the liver is gummed up. It's not making the good tractor trailer needed HDL cholesterol and even LDL. You know the boogie man?

Medicine made LDL into a boogie man. You need that cholesterol to go after the triglycerides, fat balls. So the liver, what happens in the liver doesn't stay in the liver. It clogs up your blood vessels.

And if you've had damage in your blood vessel, calcification, hardening of the arteries, well then it's, you know, oh, well, cholesterol, I see cholesterol in your bloodstream. Of course, you see cholesterol in your bloodstream. Where do you think cholesterol belong? It's on your side.

Cholesterol isn't the bad guy. Cholesterol is on your side. Oh, Dr. Martin, I got high cholesterol.

Good. Me too. They blame cholesterol for heart disease. It's just doing its job.

It's in the blood vessels. Of course, it's there. It better be there. You don't want to hammer that down.

Anyway, somebody asked me, so I said, okay, I'm going to take a piece of orange. You want to eat an orange? Eat an orange. Don't drink it.

Don't drink anything that's fruit. Now, you want to put a few berries, and I always have a little asterisk because I got an asterisk. Okay. Dr.

Martin, you said don't drink any fruit, and yet you tell us to put some blueberries or strawberries or raspberries in Dr. Martin's Perfect Smoothie. I can see you thinking, and I'm glad you asked. But remember, Dr.

Martin's Perfect Smoothie is a meal replacer. You're eating that fruit, even though you're drinking it. Why? Because you see, those berries, the berries, the blueberries, for example, in the smoothie, they got broken down, and they're part with the protein and the fat because you're putting heavy cream in there.

Dr. Martin's Perfect Smoothie. Kids think they went to McDonald's. That's how good it is.

But it's different because it slows the process down. So you're really eating that berries rather than drinking them. They're not going straight to your liver. Got it?

That's the only exception. Put a little asterisk. I wouldn't steer you wrong on that. Okay.

Because somebody asked, I said, I better go over it again. Somebody asked me, Dr. Martin, I got sugar cravings. I remember women in the office.

I go by Laura Secord's to my American friends. I think Laura Secord's is Canadian. I'm trying to think of a chocolate shop in the United States. Okay.

I used to have women in my office. I'm not kidding. They said, Dr. Martin, I go by Laura Secord's.

I want to do a swan diet. Here's what I used to tell them. And I knew it already. But I said, you got yeast.

Okay. I knew 100%. Of course, I tested for yeast in my office. Candida.

It wants to be fed. So when you have sugar cravings, it can be a fluctuation of blood sugar. Yes, that can be a factor. But the biggest factor is you got candida.

And the yeast, you know, I used to have t-shirts. Don't feed the bears. Hats. Don't feed the bears.

And people would look at me, you're crazy. You're in a hood owl. Dr. Martin, yeah, I'm trying to teach something.

The bears are candida, yeast, and they want to be fed. And they'll call out your name several times a day. Time to feed me. I need some sugar.

And they like sugar. You know what yeast hates? State. It hates it because it can't feed on it.

It doesn't break down rapidly enough for them. Yeast hates state. That's why cancer hates state. Because most cancers have a fungus.

Some doctors say parasites. They say parasites. I say fungus, yeast. Okay.

They say parasites. That's sort of the new thing out there now on cancer while they're parasitical. Ah, maybe. I'm sticking to mine.

Yeast. It's fungus. And it wants to be fed. And gentlemen, ladies, breast cancer, fungal.

There's a fungal component to it. It's calling your name to feed it sugar. Don't do that. Stop it.

No more. Don't feed it. You can't kill fungus easily. You can't not feed it probiotics, certain probiotics.

And by the way, can I say this too? Because we had some comments on, we got new probiotic labels. Okay. People are up there and, you know, doctor, give us a warning.

Well, look, it's Health Canada. It's regulations. We have to live with the regulations of Health Canada. Otherwise, you cannot sell a product in Canada without it being regulated by Health Canada.

Is that a good thing? Yeah, in a way. But they become, I hate to use the word, anal. Do you know what I mean by that?

Like they really have. And the requirements for the label are crazy. We had no choice but to change the label. And to change the label, we changed the bottle.

Okay. It's a manufacturing decision. The product is the same. We never allow product change.

If we did, I'd tell you about it. Okay. I'd tell you about it. But people come on and they get all like, you got a new bottle.

Give me a heads up. I didn't know when they were going to release it. Okay. Okay.

It takes months and months and months and you got everything is crazy slow. Okay. But coming back to yeast, probiotics, especially the L-routeri and the L-rhamnosus. Okay.

Look, I've been working with probiotics for over 40 years. I know what they do. I knew what they did way before anybody, almost anybody else knew. Farmers knew.

I know nothing about farming, but I had people around me that did. I said, the farmers are using probiotics 40 something years ago. I go, yeah, it makes sense. Bacteria.

You know, what did we know about the microbiome then? Not much. Compared to now. I always believed in leaky gut guys.

Okay. I believed in leaky gut. Always. And until you could get a microscope to look at it.

Okay. You get a microscope to look at it. Well, you still got doctors. Leaky gut.

Dr. Martin, if you had leaky gut, you would die. Because all they're thinking of is sepsis. Right?

Well, you don't have sepsis. No, but you got leaky gut. And it's a microscopic leak between the blood gut barrier. And you get things coming into your bloodstream that don't belong in there.

Okay. That don't belong in there. And your buddy reacts to that. Here's me.

I was one of the first people talking about autoimmune. Autoimmune. What is that? The body turns on itself.

What happens in the gut, don't stay in the gut. And the body turns on itself. You get a cytokine storm. I've seen it a million times in Crohn's, in ulcerative colitis, in Sjogren's, MS, Parkinson's, leaky gut, leaky brain, ALS, leaky gut, leaky brain, eczema, psoriasis, leaky gut, leaky skin.

I used to have kids, terrible, psoriasis, eczema. You got leaky gut. You have a yeast infection. It's fungus.

Came through your gut into your bloodstream, the invasion of the third army. It came in. Leaky gut. Don't stay in the gut.

Right? So, Hippocrates, the father of medicine, he said it 2000 years ago, all disease leads or comes from the gut. Was he wrong? He was pretty smart.

He was pretty smart. And now, like even in depression, even in Alzheimer's, in dementia, there's a component to that of leaky gut and leaky brain. Fungal. And then you bombard your body with sugar.

Your body would never meant for a couple of hundred pounds of sugar and things that turn to sugar rapidly. Your body wasn't meant for that. And the brain is swimming in the wrong fuel. Because glucose, okay, the brain can use some glucose.

But you don't want to overwhelm the brain with glucose because insulin has trouble crossing the blood brain barrier to get that sugar out of there. And why do you think they called Alzheimer's type 3 diabetes? They won a Nobel Prize for that by naming Alzheimer's type 3 diabetes, guys. Sugar craving.

Fungal. Cancer. Fungal base. Tumors are fungal base.

Pretty well. Okay, I know that cancer is complex. But tumors, fungal. Okay, so, I'm going to go through the whole thing.

Tumors, fungal. Okay. And even if it was parasites, I don't agree with that, by the way. But if it was, oh, same thing.

Parasites, what do you think they feed on? Sugar. They hate steak. Why do you think I love steak so much?

Because yeast can't feed on it. Cancer hates steak, guys. It hates it. It needs.

Cancer is like a ravenous hid that wants sugar. Otto Warburg told us that in 1928, he studied the Warburg theory of cancer. It was pretty smart. Very.

Because what has food got to do with cancer? You go to any oncologist, what's food got to do with that? Here's some insure. You got diagnosed with cancer, here's insure.

You know why? To insure that you die. They send you home with sugar, for heaven's sakes. Yeah, but I can't eat because I'm taking chemo.

Well, don't. I said make Dr. Martin's perfect smoothie then. Don't drink that crap.

That's high fructose corn syrup. It's speeding your cancer. Okay. Let me just see.

I've got a couple of other studies. Let's see if I can. Yeah, I mean, new study on Alzheimer's too about inflammation. I think we'll do another session on that because yeah, and vitamin D and Alzheimer's.

Okay. Let's leave that till tomorrow. We'll do it tomorrow. Okay, guys, you got questions? Okay. You got questions? Send them in. info at martinclinic.com.
