TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:Β  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:Β  Well, good morning everyone. And once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great start to your day. We appreciate you guys coming on and of course, when you guys can come on live, we appreciate it big time.

And I hope you're having a great start to your day. We got a couple of questions. I think I answered almost all of them when we left you on Friday. Of course, we were traveling yesterday and wasn't able to come on live.

And so let me just see. Because two questions came together, I think I answered the other day, but let's just go over a few of them. Dr. Martin, this was from Kim and the other one was from Carolyn.

Okay. And they were asking about devices. Okay. Monitoring.

One of them was a podcast on the importance of knowing and tracking your heart rate variability. And the other one was Carolyn was asking about a smart ring. And what do I think of a smart ring? I think that's smart.

Guys, I think we overdo it when it comes to monitoring. And I think people get their blood pressure up by monitoring. Cortisol goes up by monitoring. I think we over monitor things.

Now look, I mean, that's me. If the doctor has, you know, because sometimes, you know, you go to see a cardiologist and they put, they want to monitor your heart beats and all that for a few days. And, you know, you've got to wear all the paraphernalia. But I just think we overdo it.

Like I found, for example, sleep and, oh, you didn't sleep as well as you thought. That'll stress you out. Okay. And you woke up 28 times or whatever.

Well, what are you going to do about it? Take medication to knock yourself out? I don't know. This is me.

I'm old fashioned. And I understand there's a lot of devices today that you can monitor everything. I don't know. I think we overdo it.

I used to have patients come into the office and they brought a book with them. Dr. Martin, do you want to look at my last six years of my blood pressure readings three times a day? No, I'm not interested.

I hate it to be dismissive. But anyway, that was me. And I said, no, I just took your blood pressure. And even then, because they were in the office and I never wore a white coat, okay, never in my office.

When a lot of patients had white coat syndrome, their blood pressure was elevated the second they get into the doctor's office. So you got to sort of take that into consideration, right? Like they shouldn't be nervous around me, but people, I'm telling you, you know, would be because they were in a doctor's office and that's just the way they operate.

Anyway, okay, I think we overdo it in certain things. I'm not against monitoring. I'm against over monitoring. Anywho, that's me.

Okay. You might disagree with that. And I respectfully love your opinion. But I got my wedding ring on, but it's not going to be a smart ring.

I can tell you that. Okay. Let me get to a few studies because I think I answered all the questions here. I'm pretty sure I did.

Okay. Oh, there's one about a fruit here. I hadn't even heard of it. Demps asks a question here about cyst on the breast and kidney.

What makes them? Well, you like cysts, like anything else need fuel. Okay. And this is why we always talk about two growth hormones.

One of them is insulin. And the other one is estrogen. They make things grow. So you want to lower those insulin is food, right?

And estrogen affects both women and men. And the only time estrogen goes up in a man is when he doesn't have enough testosterone. That is the balancer. In a woman, the balancer for estrogen is progesterone.

So if estrogen is climbing in a woman, it's because they don't have enough progesterone to balance it out. In men, it's testosterone. That's the balancer. That's the one that keeps, I mean, what does a man need estrogen for?

And yet after the age of 50, a lot of men have a lot more estrogen than they have testosterone. What happens with that? Things grow. Things grow.

And then you add cortisol. Cortisol is an accelerant. It's pouring gasoline on the fire. So you add stress to the equation.

And that's how cysts, that's how tumors, they grow. Okay. They grow. And it's important that we understand that.

It's important that we know what to do about that, how to block the extra estrogen. And then guys, the environment has a big effect on that. Why is that? Because we live in a world of xenoestrogens.

What's that? Well, we live in a world, and you can run, but you can't hide because microplastics, air fresheners, hand sanitizers. I mean, there's been over 100,000 new chemicals created since World War II, and the vast majority of them were surrounded by them all the time. If you think you're going to get away from xenoestrogens, well, good luck with that.

Oh, Dr. Martin, I live on the farm. Everything's organic. Yeah, but it's in the soil.

It's everywhere. It's in the water. It's in the air. It's in, look, it's just the way it is.

We live in a toxic soup. So the best thing to do is to take care of yourself. Okay, take care of your own body. Get your estrogen down.

That's why I like flaxseeds. Okay, I love flaxseeds because they have a hundred times more lignans than anything else, and it blocks extra estrogen. I love our menopausal formula. Why?

Because it has DIM, and DIM blocks extra estrogen. And guys, with testosterone, sun, steak, and steel, you want your testosterone to go up. That blocks extra estrogen because we're surrounded by it, by xenoestrogen. Okay?

And probiotics. Yeah, even probiotics help to detox the body from extra xenoestrogens. And when you eat eggs, meat, and cheese, when you eat eggs, meat, and cheese, you're lowering the fat in your liver. If you keep your fat down in your liver, your liver is your detox organ, that in your kidneys.

But the liver is even more important for detoxing. So keep your liver empty. What? Keep it empty because the liver gets full of fat when you're a carbaholic and you love sugar.

And we've talked about this a million times about high fructose corn syrup, the antichrist of sugars that goes directly to your liver and gums up your liver. It becomes the Costco parking lot. Can detox. You know what, guys?

The best detox you can do is even for a week, go extremely low carb. Cut out all extra sugars, no sugar added. Don't drink fruit juices at all. Don't drink any soda.

Don't drink anything that has high fructose corn syrup in it. And you'll be surprised what your liver does. Your liver will detox your body. Got the memo?

Okay. And then your liver will do a job. Your liver is better at anything else to detox you from extra xenoestrogens, from those microplastics. Your liver, it does 600 things, but one of the best things it's good at is detoxing.

And remember, your brain detoxes itself at night when you're sleeping, not when you're sedated. So your brain has a self-cleaning oven and your liver will work the night shift while the rest of your organs are sleeping and resting. Yesterday I flew. I was on an airplane.

You know what I did with my phone? I put it in airplane mode. I told you the story the first time. I was being a bad boy on the plane and the stewardess said to me, like, turn off your phone.

Well, I had a message coming in and she said, you got to put it in airplane mode. I said, what's that? I gave her my phone and she showed me. She was very patient.

She saw that I was a senior and she showed me how to put my phone into airplane mode. I said, and now what does that mean? You're not going to get any data. What?

You're not getting any data. So when you're sleeping at night, your body, everything goes into airplane mode. Your heart slows right down. Your digestion, hopefully you haven't eaten for at least three or four hours.

Everything's at rest and digest. Your cortisol should be down. Everything is resting, but your liver, it sends in the night shift. To what?

Detox. Your brain has a self-cleaning oven only when you're sleeping and your liver works at night when the rest of your body is sleeping. It works the night shift and detoxes you, but not if it's full of fat. You know what I'm saying guys?

So it comes to your diet to do a detox. Like guys, you think I don't know about liver detoxes and all this and that. I've been around for 50 years in practice, just about. And you know what guys, like I know about milk thistle and Dr.

Martin drink a little bit of lemon with your water in the morning and this will detox your liver. Well, maybe a little bit, but it's nothing like your liver being empty. Empty your liver. And it really makes a difference.

And you can empty your liver. They've shown this. Even with a fatty liver, if it's not too advanced, you can empty your liver in as quickly as six days. Okay?

Now I'm a song guy. Six days on the road and I'm, you remember that song? Well, you got to be my age to remember that song. But it only takes six days to empty the liver.

Your liver guys, if you cut your liver in half, you know what? It'll grow back. You are so fearfully and wonderfully made, your liver regenerates itself. If you would only help it.

So guys, that's why it's so important. Okay? It's so important that you empty your liver. And you do that by laying off the high fructose corn syrup.

Okay? God wanted you to eat fruit, not drink fruit. You drink water and coffee. Water helps your liver.

It helps your kidneys, but it helps your liver. And coffee helps your liver. It's one of the most important things that coffee does. It helps your liver detox.

Think I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to coffee? Okay. Okay. Okay.

So anyway, very important that that happens. Okay. Now, this is a study. So we're finished Q&A Tuesday now.

Okay. Look, if I missed anything, would you let us know? Send it in at info at Martin Klin. I went over the list and I might've forgotten.

You know me. It's possible. I didn't answer every one of the questions. I thought I did, but you never know.

Okay. And don't be shy. Don't be shy. Guys, I'm here to answer your questions.

I don't avoid any questions. If I don't know the answer, oh, there was a fruit. Okay. Let me do this because somebody asked me about emblem fruit.

Never heard of it. But I have, I had to Google it. Okay. Because I couldn't remember.

I had probably been asked the question before. And look, coffee, I'm hearing lots in the natural health word about emblem fruit. They're saying it repairs the artery walls, up toxins and crap. I don't know.

I have no experience with it. And Kathy, here's what I always do. I compare any question you ask me. Okay.

So if someone asked me about emblem fruit, I mean, as far as your artery walls are concerned. Okay. Is it better than omega three? No, I highly doubt it.

Because one thing I know about omega three, especially DHA guys, okay, EPA DHA, and especially DHA. There's nothing that will lubricate your blood vessels better than DHA. Nothing. Okay.

I like Nabatol because it's an antioxidant. It protects your blood vessels and it elevates your nitric oxide. Does emblem, let me spell it, E-M-B-L-A, emblem fruit do that? I don't know.

I haven't seen the research on it. But I tell you, I compare everything you ask me to what I know, what I used in my office. I had to get results. If I had a patient that had chronic problems with blood pressure problems, hey, I had to get results.

And I'm telling you the combination of high DHA and Nabatol, which is a pine bark extract, I've been using for almost, I don't know, 40 years. And vitamin D is very good for you. Why? Because vitamin D, just the sun touching your skin, will affect your blood pressure.

Did you know that? It will lower it. Why? Because it elevates your nitric oxide.

So guys, for me, I compare it. So I Googled emblem fruit. I don't know. I'm not against it.

Obviously, I'm not against it. Does it do what omega-3 does? I don't think so. Does it do what pine bark extract does?

I don't think so. Does it do what vitamin D does for your heart and blood vessel? I don't think so. But I'm not against it.

So that's the way, Kathy, I have to answer the question. Okay? And, you know, I was reading something yesterday, maybe on the plane about heart disease. And I got a migraine, guys.

I got a migraine because they're so fixated on cholesterol as being the boogeyman. I mean, it's not, let's follow the science. It's, let's follow the pharmaceutical industry. Now listen, I put a little asterisk, okay?

A little asterisk. Pharmaceuticals, okay? I don't dismiss pharmaceuticals because people think I just dismiss them, okay? Because somebody asked the question the other day.

I think I answered it. Maybe I, I think I answered it. B, was saying, look, she had a stroke. Yeah, I did answer.

And she's getting a lot of pushback from family and friends because, of course, if you've had a mini stroke or whatever, they're all going to blame everything on cholesterol and high blood pressure. And they want you to be on meds. And I don't say get off meds. I never tell, even when I was in my office, guys, when I had patients, I said, look, why can't we put the best of both worlds together?

Medicine and complementary medicine. Why can't we do both? If you need to be on a high blood pressure medication, because you can't control your blood pressure medication, and someone came to see me, let's say they had a stroke and they were on blood, two or three blood pressure medications, including diuretics.

They were on a blood thinner. They were on a cocktail of medication. They were on a blood thinner. They're put automatically on a statin drug to lower cholesterol.

Even if their cholesterol was normal, they were put on a medication. So they were on a cocktail of meds. They came to see me. Dr.

Martin, what would you do? What would you do? Well, look, I said, look, you have medicine on this side. I'm not even going to touch that.

I am going to help you to get your body in shape. We're going to do all your biomarkers. Okay. Now we're going to look and see, number one, if you have any deficiencies in terms of vitamin D, B12, okay, magnesium.

We're going to monitor that first. And then we're going to look at your blood work that you're presenting to me because I want to see your blood work. So I looked at your HDL. I said, you got to get your HDL up.

Your triglycerides are through the roof. Dr. Martin, how do I get that down? Well, diet.

I'm a food guy first. We're going to change your diet. You happen to be a carbaholic and we're going to fix that together. I'm going to tell you what to do and you're going to implement a new diet because just looking at your blood work, your A1C, does that affect your heart?

Big time. Your triglycerides, your fat balls in your blood vessels, does that affect your heart? Big time. You got low HDL.

Does that affect your heart? Big time. We're going to fix that. Mostly with diet.

You got low levels of B12. Does that affect your heart? Big time. We're going to address that issue.

You got low levels of vitamin D. What do I got to tell you? We got to fix that because it helps. You got to do your part and then the meds, I'm not touching those.

We're not going to touch those to start. When you get better and your numbers get better and your blood pressure goes down and your kidneys are functioning better, your triglycerides are down, and I would start them on a few supplements. I didn't give them 100. I gave them a few based on deficiencies.

Usually they were low in B12. Usually they were low in vitamin D. It was almost consistent. They had metabolic syndrome.

Their triglycerides were high. Their HDL, the good cholesterol. All cholesterol is good, by the way. It was low.

We got to get that out. What about my LDL? What about it? Again, we kept the pharma right over here.

I'm not going to change that. I'm not starting with that. I'm going to start with you building a foundation for your health, and I'll go into that in a moment. I'm going to go to the whole understanding that we're almost, I don't know, 50, 60 years down the road of what so-called science says for heart disease, and we're worse than ever.

Medication can't be the answer. The only answer, like to be put that has a thousand side effects and it's not really fixing your heart. It might make your doctor feel better but it don't make you feel better. But we're going to address that after because I'm going to start you with a foundation of your health.

How to eat, how to lower your insulin resistance, how to elevate your HDL and lower your triglycerides because diet has an effect on that big time. How to lower your A1C. Food and you're going to find out that steak is good for your heart. You're going to find out that generally, just generally, the medical profession doesn't know anything about food.

So let me do my thing to help you. Okay? And when it comes to the meds, we'll deal with that. We'll go through it and you're going to ask your questions to your doctor, you know, because I don't want you to eliminate medicine.

I really don't. That was never my goal. But my goal was to educate my patient, make them understand. They didn't have to have a PhD to understand.

And then you look at my audience today, the people that are watching us even now and listening to us on the Doctors in Podcast, they're pretty smart. They ask good questions. Okay? And so that's the way I operate.

Okay, guys, we got some good studies that we're going to deal with the rest of the week. Okay? If I missed any of your questions, would you please let me know? Okay?

Please let me know. I want to know. Okay?Β

Okay, guys, you guys are unreal. Okay? Love you dearly. Okay? So thanks for joining us this morning, guys. And we'll talk to you soon. And thanks for listening.
