TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE
Announcer:Β You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.
Dr. Martin: Β Well, good morning, everyone. Once again, welcome to another live this morning. Nice to have you come on. Don't you be shy a bit and why don't you say hello.
Okay, so thank you for coming on, guys. We appreciate it. Q&A Friday, and we got some good questions, okay? Okay, let's get going, guys.
We got lots of questions. And thank you for coming on this morning, okay? Okay. This is Kim.
She started EMC, eggs, meat and cheese. Okay. And she's kept it up for five months. You're a good and very smart girl, Kim.
Okay. I've not got bad to carbs. I'm mostly eating EMC or keto. After listening to your recent video citing studies of brain deterioration, I had my blood taken in March, okay?
My doctor said my blood work was excellent. High vitamin D, HDL was good. LDL, who cares? Triglycerides were low.
She was shocked to see her A1C go up one point. In 2020, 5.4. Well, first of all, Kim, to compare 2020 to 2026, that comparison don't mean much to me. Look, let me just say this, Kim, okay?
You got to get the big picture. What you're doing is unreal, okay? Unreal. Two, all of your blood work is excellent.
The fact that your A1C is 5.5, you don't know where you came from because in 2020, being at 5.4 and then in 2026, you're at 5.5. That don't mean too much to me, okay? It really doesn't because it's too long of a comparison. But let me encourage you, you're on the right track.
The fact that your A1C is not perfect, I want it a little bit lower than that at 5.4, you're close. Look, I mean, there's other factors that could be involved, but the fact that your triglycerides are good, your HDL is good, it seems like everything else is good, don't get discouraged. Don't get discouraged.
I can tell you, tens of thousands of people have done the EMC, have done the reset, and their biomarkers, 99% of the time, get better real quick. Hey, keep working on it. Why you're at 5.5 compared to 2000, that was 5.4, it could be a lot of things. I'd have to see all your blood work in between time like that.
So I don't want to compare that. It's too long of a distance between those blood tests. But let me tell you again, I'm encouraging you, because I'm not going to say that you're not going to get better. Let me tell you again, I'm encouraging you, Kim.
Don't get discouraged. You're doing well. You really are. Okay?
Charlene, one of the most intriguing challenges I've experienced is hearing my heartbeat pounding in my head. I've tried various supplements, including Navitol, but it's still there. Now look, I mean, I don't know this, Charlene, usually when you hear either a swishing sound or you hear your heartbeat in your ears, ordinarily, this is what I saw in my practice, ordinarily, there was exceptions to it.
They were low in iron. They were either B12 or low in iron. That's what I usually saw. Okay?
Not always, but usually. Check that out. That could be something. Could be anemic.
Regina, what are your thoughts on acar-mancia? I don't have much thoughts on acar-mancia. Okay? I read that it really helps your liver detox.
I don't believe that for five seconds, Regina. There's nothing that will detox your liver if you're on a bad diet. Because your liver detoxes itself. It doesn't even need help as long as you empty it.
The way your liver doesn't work is if you fill it up with carbohydrates. It's the Costco parking lot. And your liver does a lot of things, over 600 things. But it will detox itself if you keep it empty.
You don't want it to be all packed up with fat. So this acar-mancia that is going to do a liver detox, I don't buy it. I really don't. Look, I like milk thistle.
I've talked about that in the past. But again, there is no supplement that will clean your liver like your food. If you cut down, especially on high fructose corn syrup, you cut your carbs and you're not making all that extra glycogen in your liver, that's what gums up your liver. Okay?
Let me see what else you said. Okay? That you can lose, because of that it detoxes your liver, you can lose tummy fat and other problems. It's called the skinny probiotic.
I don't buy it. Look, I've been talking about probiotics for over 40 years. Okay? I love probiotics.
You guys know that. I take a probiotic every day, seven days a week. I have been for 30 years. Do I love probiotics?
Yeah. Is there magic to them? Well, what do they call it? Acar-mancia?
Nothing compared to El-Ruderi and El-Ramnosis. They help your liver, but again, you can't out supplement a bad diet. You want to empty your liver, you cut the carbs, cut out the high fructose corn syrup, and it ain't going to make you lose weight. You know, when someone tells you, take this, then you're going to lose your tummy fat?
Run, forest, run. Come on. Oh, this is magic. There ain't no magic.
There ain't no magic. Believe you me. There's no shortcuts. Besides that, I mean, you've got a lot, there's a lot of hormonal things involved in belly fat, like cortisol.
Okay? But again, you can't out supplement a bad diet. You know, when I read stuff online that this does everything, getting rid of warts on your nose and pimples on your toes are the other way around. Come on.
It doesn't happen like that. I'm sorry. I'm skeptical. That was Regina Beverly.
What can I do for leg cramps during the night? I drink and eat pickles. You mean you're drinking pickle juice? I like pickle juice.
It's good for you. Okay. Find the one with the most sodium in it. Okay.
My main diet is eggs, meat, and cheese. Smart, smart, smart. Well, look, magnesium, cramping. You might need, Regina, an actual electrolyte drink.
Okay? You might need an actual electrolyte drink if you're still getting cramping. I love sea salt, real salt, Himalayan salt. I love that stuff.
Okay. That was Beverly. Let me see here. Joanne, my gynecologist prescribed a molecular iodine, three milligram capsule for breast tissue sensitivity.
A couple of things. I used to get them to rub iodine right on their breast tissue for that sensitivity. If you can get a bioidentical progesterone, you can rub that on the breast tissue. When I researched this, Joanne said it's considered a very high dose and not recommended.
Well, three milligrams. It is a high dose. Can I ask you a question, Joanne? What is your thyroid like?
What is your thyroid doing? Okay? One of the things that you make sure you're taking if you're going to take that much iodine is selenium and zinc. Eat steak for your thyroid.
Eat steak for even breast tissue sensitivity. Okay? Yeah, it is a high dose to some extent. What's it going to do to you?
I like iodine. Okay? If you need it, I like it. Okay.
Greg is asking what causes high CRP? Well, a lot of things. C-reactive protein, Greg, is a biomarker. Your body makes it.
Your liver makes CRP. Okay? So you can measure it. And it is an inflammatory marker.
If you have inflammation, your CRP will go up. Okay? What causes that? Well, could be infection.
Right? Could be injury. Could be silent inflammation in the body that you could have autoimmune disease. That'll elevate your C-reactive protein.
At times, your CRP goes up. It's a silent inflammation. When your insulin resistance is up, your insulin sensitivity is down. That can create an inflammatory response in your body.
If you're a big carb and sugar eater, that can create a silent inflammatory response in your body. But generally, Greg, those are the things that elevate CRP. Okay? You got an infection.
Your CRP is going up. Okay. But remember now, CRP, I always like that marker because it can tell you years ahead of time, for example, about heart disease. Because it marks the inflammation way before you get a plaque buildup, for example, in your arteries, your coronary arteries.
Okay? Carol, is there a connection between an unfounded reason for DVT behind the knee? Okay? So that is a blood clot and a possible high triglyceride level.
Is there a correlation or connection? Possibly. Possibly because, okay, let's just separate them. Okay?
High triglycerides, those are fat balls in your blood vessels. Okay? You have high triglycerides. It's a teeter-tauter.
Usually, you have low HDL cholesterol. What does HDL cholesterol do? It hitches its wagon to those triglycerides and takes them out of your blood vessels back into your liver for processing. If you have high triglycerides, does that make you more susceptible to a DVT?
Possibly. Possibly. Okay? Now, what can cause a blood clot in behind the knee or whatever?
I mean, circulatory problems, sitting a long, long period of time where you see a DVT, oftentimes, people will go on an overnight flight or whatever and they don't move much on a plane and they're much more susceptible to DVT. I would say rather than the triglycerides, although that could be a factor, it would be more dehydration and not enough water moving that blood, but you got to move.
You get on a plane, move. Okay? Get up frequently because that's when it can happen. Go on a long car ride or you're sitting down, extended long periods of time, you're much more susceptible to a DVT.
Okay? Thank you, Carol. Brenda, suggestions, myopathy in children. Isn't that nearsightedness?
Yeah, myopathy. Look, anything with the eyes, here's me. Circulation, circulation, circulation. Okay?
If you're going to help your eyes, it's circulation. Okay? I never forgot in school, looking in behind the eye with a scope and saying, my oh my, there's the 407, there's the 403, there's the 404, there's the 401 highway. I was amazed at the blood supply behind the eye.
Okay? That you can see with the scope, you know, you're looking in behind the eye. And I was fascinated by all the highways and byways of blood vessels behind the eye. So whenever you talk about eye, whether it's children or whatever, blood supply, that how you affected this is why I've always, always, always talked about Navitol, pine bark extract with the eyes, much better and much stronger than elderberry or whatever.
Not that I'm against that. I just found it to be better. And when you combine DHA, which lubricates those blood vessels, brings fat into the eye and Navitol, those two combined, hard to beat. Okay?
Try it with the kids with myopathy. Tonya, hi Tonya. I have intermittent hiccups. They happen periodically throughout the day.
When I'm sleeping, no. Okay? Going on for two or three years. What do you think's causing it?
Here's what I think. Okay? Because here's what I used to see. People with chronic hiccups.
Usually they had an acid reflux problem, not enough acidity in their stomach and the body was overreacting. The proton pumps were producing more acidity. And for some that gave them hiccups. Okay?
Usually that's what I found. And what I like and usually what helped them big time was digestive enzymes. And you know what? I actually got them to take either a little bit of a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar a couple of times a day or balsamic vinegar and digestive enzymes.
Don't leave home without them. They're so, so good for you. Okay. That was Tonya.
Sarah, nattokinase. What about it? Does it help clear blood vessels? Yeah, to some extent.
I like nattokinase. It helps to break down the fibrin in blood vessels. Look, yeah, I got no problem with it. Okay?
I know it was sort of became popular. Natopkenase became popular during COVID. Or people that were having trouble with blood clots after getting the vaccine. Okay?
Do you remember that? And there was a lot of ink on nattokinase being able to break down that fibrin. Yeah. I, you know, again, it's not that I'm skeptical.
I liked it. It wasn't my go-to. I like Navitol better than that. I like elevating the nitric oxide more than that.
B12 more than that. But I had no trouble. People that like nattokinase, I had no trouble with that. Okay?
I think that's from Soy, by the way. Okay? Widening blood vessels and helps to lower blood pressure. Yeah, if you find that, does it?
Like I said, for me, it wouldn't be my first choice. That's all I'm saying, Sarah. Cathy, what does Dr. Martin recommend for psoriasis?
Fix the gut. Psoriasis is leaky gut. It started in the gut. What you see on the skin is leaky gut.
It's fungal. It's the invasion of the third army. You got good bacteria, you got bad bacteria at the southern border in your gut. And because of either antibiotics, that's what I found to be the worst for that.
Guess what happens? You get an invasion of fungus. That comes out on the skin. That is psoriasis.
Probiotics, don't feed the bears, no sugar, very little carb. It helps enormously. And bone broth, tighten up those tight junctions in the gut and lay off the sugar. That was Cathy.
Alice, what is Dr. Martin's protocol for chronic leukemia? Just diagnose her 56-year-old niece. Well, look, chronic leukemia is bone marrow cancer, okay?
And it's chronic, meaning it's going to be very slow moving. Whenever you talk to me about cancer, I have a protocol that I recommend. Lay off sugar, okay? One, lay off sugar.
Build your immune system. So any cancer, including chronic leukemia, build your immune system. I'm huge on vitamin D. You guys know that.
Okay? You guys know that. Food, low carb, okay? Low carb, vitamin D.
I love curcumin. It's very, very anti-cancer. And, you know, build your immune system. Build the immune system.
I really believe in that protocol. Okay? So that's what I would do, Alice. Lose seal.
My husband wants to know if cod liver oil or omega-3 is better. Well, they're two different things, okay? There is some omega-3 in cod liver oil. Cod liver oil is famous for vitamin A and vitamin D, okay?
That's why the Inuit, formerly called the Eskimos, have done so well, because they eat a lot of cod liver oil. Now, omega-3 is different, okay? Because omega-3 specifically has EPA and DHA. And if you want to get your levels of EPA and DHA, especially DHA, you want to move that level up.
You want your omega-3 levels to go up. It makes you healthier, okay? Because three things are worse than smoking. Okay?
Having low levels of vitamin D, having low levels of omega-3, and inactivity. Three things worse than smoking. Low levels of vitamin D, low levels of omega-3, and inactivity. So, do I like cod liver oil?
I love cod liver oil, okay? I do. During COVID, they could have given us cod liver oil. They could have given us vitamin D.
They could have given us vitamin E. It would have been better than no shots. I'm telling you that. Get in the sun.
No, okay? But omega-3 is different in the sense that cod liver oil is a good oil, and there's omega-3 in there. But you don't have the amounts of DHA or EPA. And I like DHA better.
I talk about it all the time. You want to elevate that because you really want to elevate. And you can measure this. Doctors don't do it, but they should measure omega-3 levels in the body.
If you get it around 8%, most people are around 4%. You get around 8%, better 12%. You're a lot healthier. Okay.
But I like both of them. Okay. Let's see. Lees.
Just wondering if Dr. Martin could explain if too much vitamin D can cause calcium deposits in joints and soft tissue. Oh, look, it's possible, but that's not what happens. Okay?
Oh, I'm taking too much vitamin D. If you go in the sun, you're not going to get calcium in your joints. And you're getting calcium in your soft tissue. Your body doesn't work like that.
Okay? Now, when you're taking a vitamin D supplement, guys, you know me, I recommend you take vitamin D with K2. If you're in the sun, eat eggs, meat, and cheese. Why?
You got vitamin D in there, but you have calcium in there. It's not going to work. Calcium in there, it's calcium that calcifies your joints. Okay?
And vitamin D, to some extent, elevates calcium, but you never have to worry about it, number one, if you're in the sun. Number two, if you're taking your vitamin D with K2.Β
And remember, in nature, you don't want to take calcium supplements because that's one of the worst things you can do. And people take calcium, but you want it the way God made your eggs.
In an egg, you got calcium with K2. In meat, you got calcium with K2. In cheese, dairy, butter, cream, you got calcium. You got calcium with K2.
So it takes the calcium and parks it out of your bloodstream, out of your tissue, into your bones, and into your teeth. That's what. Look, I never seen, you know, vitamin D do that.Β
You know, they talk, oh, you can get kidney stones or whatever with vitamin D being too high. Look, it's so rare. I hate even talking about it. Okay?Β
But eat your calcium. Eat it. Don't take it as a supplement. Eat it with eggs, meat, and cheese. You got lots of calcium with vitamin K2.
It's built right in. Why do you think eggs are so good for you? In meat and cheese. Okay.
Is it true that green tea helps cortisol levels? Yes, to some extent, and this is Betty. Okay? I got a cancer diagnosis and they told me to get off cortisol control.
Betty, I'm getting a migraine. Oh, I just get such a kick out of oncologists who know nothing about supplements. Nothing. They haven't taken five minutes in school on supplements.
Oh, you're taking cortisol control and you got cancer. They don't know what they're talking about. It would only be good because what does cortisol do? It pours gasoline on the fire of cancer.
I talk about this a lot with breast cancer. It pours gasoline on the fire of that. Yeah, you want to lower your cortisol, but don't take a cortisol supplement. What's it going to do?
It just drives me crazy. I'm going to interfere with the chemotherapy. They don't know what therapy. They don't know what they're talking about.
They should have every patient on cortisol control, every cancer patient on probiotics, every cancer patient on vitamin D, every cancer patient. Oh, I just got a migraine. I'm sorry. Betty, yes, Betty, you can take green tea.
Why drink green tea when you can have coffee? Okay. Let's see. How many more did I get?
Oh, last one. Last one. I think I'm going to get it done. I can't believe it.
Let's do it. Marria, does EMC, eggs, meat and cheese, cause kidney stones? Nope. Nope.
Nope, nope, nope. Here's what causes kidney stones. Okay. You've got two types of kidney stones.
You have oxalates and you have uric acid stones. Oxalates make up 75% of kidney stones and 25% of kidney stones are uric acid. Eggs, meat and cheese does not cause elevated uric acid nor oxalates. Okay.
Let's start with oxalates. They come from the plant kingdom. It's one of the reasons, guys, I put people on a 30-day reset where they have no plants. Am I against plants?
Nope. But for 30 days, I don't want no oxalates. When you drink tea, you get oxalates. So it doesn't come from EMC.
If you eat cheese, if you eat meat and you eat eggs and you eat steak and you eat bacon, you don't get oxalates from that. They come from the plant kingdom. People that live on saline, they get kidney stones. They're oxalate.
Now the other one, 25%, come from uric acid. What creates uric acid crystals? Fructose. Not when you eat an orange or whatever, but when you drink orange, when you drink orange juice, apple juice, when you drink these stupid fruit smoothies and you have a lot of high fructose corn syrup that goes directly to your liver and your body sends out extra uric acid.
And remember, when you get crystals, you're not filtering those crystals. Dehydration is a big factor in kidney stones. Remember, when you go to Niagara Falls, two in the morning, two in the afternoon. What's happening there?
Oh, the water's flowing. Water flows over Niagara Falls 24 and 7. Two in the morning, two in the afternoon. Your kidneys need water.
EMC don't cause kidney stones. Dehydration and oxalates and uric acid crystals. That's how you get kidney stones. And it's amazing how many women get kidney stones because they eat their saline.
They live on it. They'd rather have a salad than steak. I said, that's not smart. I know a lot of women.
They have lunch and they have a salad for lunch and they go, it's big, Dr. Martin. I got a big salad. A lot of oxalates in there.
A lot of oxalates in there. Who knew? Nobody ever told me. Well, I'm telling you now.
Okay. We got through all the questions I just about passing out. On Monday, we're not going to do Q&A. We're going to do, I don't know, we'll find out.
Okay, guys, send in your questions to info at martinclinic.com. Okay. We love you guys. Thanks for coming on every day.
We appreciate you guys. Talk to you soon.
