Okay. So anyway, you must be doing it because it's very popular. Thank you for that. Okay.

Now let's get at some studies that I think you'll find interesting. Let's start with this one. Okay. New study on the importance of DHE.

Okay. Now here's the study. Men need even more DHE than women do. And the reason this study says, like women need DHE too.

Okay. But this study shows men need more DHE for their heart than women do. Okay. Because men have more heart disease than women do.

Now go back 20 years. I remember, I brought this study out, oh, at least 20 years ago on my radio show, The Doctor Is In. I talked about women's heart disease. You know what guys, at one time, when I graduated in the 70s, okay, in the days of NOAA, women rarely had heart disease.

It's not that they didn't, it just was so rare compared to men. And then in the 80s and 90s, that scale started to go up for women having heart disease and having heart attacks. Almost unheard of in the 1970s, guys. Okay.

When I was in school studying heart disease, that's a man's thing. Women don't get that. And they were saying, well, men are smoking more. I don't know what they were saying at the time.

I can't remember exactly, but men, but on this study, they say men need more DHE than women. Okay. They were saying this, and you know, guys, we've said this many a time, most fish supplements most. You know what the problem is?

They're much higher in EPA than DHA. Now, EPA guys is good. There's nothing wrong with EPA. Comes from the animal kingdom, EPA.

But for heart disease and for the brain, you need DHA. Okay. So what does DHA do even according to this study, which really helps in heart disease. But if you think about it, heart and brain are very much connected here.

But let's just talk about what this study said. Four things that DHA does more than EPA. One, it decreases inflammation. It is a fire extinguisher, DHA.

So every time you take DHA fish oil, it is a fire extinguisher. It is very, very, very anti-inflammatory. And remember, inflammation is not Houdini. Inflammation damages blood vessels.

Inflammation causes a lot of plaque to set down in the endothelial layers of the Teflon layers of your blood vessels. But guys, it's not Houdini. What causes inflammation in the first place? Insulin resistance, major, major factor.

So you want the fire extinguisher. You want the fire extinguisher. Guys, the same thing that damages your blood vessels to your heart will damage your blood vessels to your brain. I was explaining this to someone yesterday, okay, because I'm always talking about health.

Okay. Because I get asked all the time, question. Okay. They see me and they go, okay.

They see me and they go, Dr. Martin, can I ask you a question? Yeah, shoot. Go for it.

Okay. Okay. Why is sugar so destructive? Because it destroys blood vessels.

Okay. Your body knows that. Sugar is so toxic. And sugar, okay, it can't be left unattended in your blood vessels because it destroys blood vessels.

And sugar is very inflammatory. The problem is with inflammation, okay, it's not like you got kicked in the knee and you go, ooh. You start rubbing your knee and you know if you got any pain there, you got inflammation there. The problem is you have a silent type of inflammation.

You don't even know what's going on. It's like sandpaper. You're rubbing your blood vessels with sandpaper over a period of time. Very destructive.

And they're showing that DHA, unlike EPA, is very, very anti-inflammatory. It is a fire extinguisher. That is the number one thing that research is showing that it does. It does more than that, but we'll get to that.

Okay? Numero uno. It lowers inflammation. Okay, that's number one.

Number two, that nobody talks about when it comes to heart disease. Those fat balls, your triglycerides. DHA lowers triglycerides. Now, I'll tell you, I've been in a few arguments in my radio show days with people who were phoning in on the radio show, okay?

Because they were arguing that only EPA lowers triglycerides. There's a medication you can get. I don't know if it's still $300 a month, okay? Because that's how much it was at the time.

It's a medication called Vesipo, okay? And you know what it is? It's really not a med. It's high, high concentrate of EPA.

Fish oil. But they got a patent on it, the way they process it. It's a medication called Vesipo, and it lowers triglycerides. So I was talking, go back, it's got to be 15 years ago, oh yeah, yeah, even more than that.

When did that medication come up? Let me see if I can just get it. Because I remember when they made the announcement on Vesipo, okay? Let me just see.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time, but if I can find it, I'll look at it. Maybe someone can help me out. Okay, okay, let me get it. Vesipo, P-A, Vesipa, I guess.

A prescription brand containing a purified form of omega-3 EPA. It is used to lower triglycerides and lower your risk heart attack. Well, before I get into any kind of argument, before I get into the argument that I used to have about this, anything that lowers your triglycerides is a good thing. Okay?

Doctors, when they do your lipid profile, I went over a lipid profile of someone yesterday. I said, show me your lipids. Okay? And I went through, and on this particular blood work, cholesterol was flagged three times.

I looked at this person and I said, who cares? Who cares? I don't care about that. I don't care if your cholesterol was flagged.

I care if your triglycerides are high and your HDL is low. That's what I care about, and I'm right about it. Because what causes heart disease is the very thing I'm reading right here. Okay?

A prescription brand name medication. It's just fish oil, guys, but it's prescribed. You've got to get it by prescription because they have a patent on the way they do it. But it's fish oil.

Very high in EPA. As a matter of fact, it's only EPA. But it lowers triglycerides. Good.

I'm happy. $300 a month, apparently. I don't know if it's still like that. Okay.

Let me just see if I can see when it was given. I don't know what year this was. Anyway, so the phone in on the radio show happened a couple of times where people, okay, sort of arguing with me. And that's all right.

That's all right. They said, well, only EPA lowers triglycerides. I said, no, you know what? I know for a fact that's not true.

And they said, well, how do you know that? I said, because I do blood tests. And I can lower a person's triglycerides. And I don't just recommend, you guys know this, fish oil, but I can lower triglycerides with DHA.

I know that for a fact. They're saying, well, yeah, but this medication is saying there's only one way to lower triglycerides. It's not what it's even saying. It's just saying it can lower your triglycerides and lower your risk.

They're saying this right on the site of Health Canada. It lowers your risk of heart attacks and heart disease, fish oil. And they're saying on this one, of course, that VCPAC does this. Good.

I'm happy. I'll tell you what. So does DHA. And this study is showing men need more DHA than EPA to lower their risk of heart disease.

And DHA, according to this study, lowers triglycerides. If they would have asked me, I'd have told them that years ago. Yes, it does. Now, guys, I'm going to make a little disclaimer here, or I'm going to put a little asterisk here, because you guys know me.

You cannot out supplement a bad diet. So guys, you know this, I deal and I dealt with metabolic syndrome, which is one of the characteristics of metabolic syndrome, which leads to heart disease, is high triglycerides. Medicine hardly even looks at it. They want to know about cholesterol, but they don't want to know about triglycerides.

And those fat balls cause heart attacks and heart disease. And let me tell you, they cause problems in the brain too. How do you make triglycerides? Carbohydrates, sugar, anything that turns to sugar rapidly.

Why? Because the liver gets full. The liver is the Costco parking lot. And if you insist on eating carbs, lots of carbs, crappy carbs, bread, pasta, rice, cereal, sugar, sweets, pastries, muffins and bagels, duh, they're right in there.

Whole wheat, carrot, muffins. I don't care. They're going to elevate your triglycerides because you're going to fill up your liver with the Costco parking lot getting full. And guess what your body has to do?

It sends triglycerides, fat balls, because that sugar is being turned and parked into fat, glycogen in your liver, and it gets sent out, extra gets sent out into your bloodstream in the form of three fat balls, triglycerides. And you need elevated cholesterol, not lower, elevated cholesterol, especially the HDL, to run into your blood vessels with a wagon at the back, a trailer hitch, and fill up the trailer of your HDL cholesterol.

It takes up those triglycerides and brings them back to your liver for processing. That's how your body works. So, okay, back to the study. DHA fish oil, okay, DHA fish oil, lowers inflammation.

It is a fire extinguisher. Two, it decreases your triglycerides. Your triglycerides. Three, it elevates your HDL cholesterol.

Who knew? That's what you want. You're not going to hear this from your doctor, but that's what you want, okay? And because of that, and this study is saying this, not just me, it helps with your memory.

Guys, your gray matter up there needs blood flow, right? Your hippocampus needs blood flow. The memory center needs blood flow. Well, guess what helps with that?

DHA. Fire extinguisher decreases your triglycerides, which is really important in heart disease, helps your memory, fathead. I'm not insulting you, I'm complimenting you. I know one thing about my audience.

There are a bunch of fatheads, okay? Fatheads. You want fat in your brain. Your brain's made up of fat.

Your brain is made up of DHA fat. Your brain is made up of cholesterol. Why do you want to lower it? You want to elevate it.

You don't want to lower it? I'm calling you guys out there fathead. You're just a bunch of fatheads. Beautiful, isn't it?

I love when someone calls me a fathead. You know what dementia is? It's the shrinkage of the brain. Alzheimer's.

Your brain shrinks like a prune, especially in that hippocampus. So, very important for your memory. Okay? According to this study, they give another one, a fourth one.

Guys, I don't know if I'm going to shock you, but I like this one. Okay? I like this one. Okay?

It increases, listen to this, it has, according to this study, a prebiotic effect. Now, I hear about this Dr. Martin. A million times I've heard this.

Well, you need fiber because it gives you a prebiotic. And 99% of my colleagues who are smart people, they're gurus, but they bought that lie about fiber. Okay? Well, fiber you need because of butyrate.

You need fiber feeds the healthy bacteria. And I go, no. Fiber's overrated. Fiber's overrated.

And this study is saying, you know what your friendly bacteria love? DHA. It's a prebiotic. So is steak.

So are eggs. So is butter. So is cheese. It's a prebiotic.

There's nothing that will affect your friendly bacteria. Okay? Like lactobacillus and bifidobacteria. Okay?

The L's and the B's. Lactobacillus and bifidobacteria. That's what feeds it. And you know what feeds the bad guys?

The bad bacteria. You guys know this right off the bat. I'm not even going to tell you to close your books. You're too stinkin' smart.

Sugar. Sugar feeds the bad guys. Plus feeds the invasive army of yeast and parasites. Your bacteria, your good guys, they love DHA, according to this study.

Who knew? Who knew? But you'll hear it, guys. You'll hear it.

You'll hear it. You're going to continue to hear it. You're going to hear it a million times. That unless you're eating fiber, okay, you're not feeding your good bacteria.

Don't believe it? I never believed it. I never will believe it. I'm telling you it's overrated.

There's nothing like eggs, meat, and cheese. And DHA comes out of the animal kingdom. When you avoid that, you're making a huge boo-boo. And I'll tell you what else feeds your good bacteria.

The only fiber you really need, coffee. Coffee does. Enjoy. Okay, so four effects of DHA.

Okay, four effects of DHA. Fire extinguisher. Man, that's good for heart disease. Man, that lowers your risk of heart disease.

Lowers your triglycerides. Holy smokes. Does that ever lower your risk of heart disease? Increases your HDL cholesterol.

Boy, that helps you with heart disease. Helps with your memory too. Fat head. And it even helps with your gut and your gut-brain connection because it's feeding your good bacteria, your microbiome.

I'll tell you, it's a great study. I liked it a lot. It just reinforces my teaching. Okay?

It reinforces my teaching. Okay. We got a great week. Still coming.

Okay? One more day before we get to Q&A again. I love that though. You know what, guys?

You're asking questions and I want you to answer them. Okay? I'll see you next week. Bye.

Question. Okay? Please ask your question. Don't be shy.

Okay? We love you guys. 100,000 followers on the Martin Clinic private Facebook group. 100,000.

Love it. We're going to have a celebration. I'll figure something out. Okay.

We love you guys. Talk to you soon.Β
