Dr. Martin answers questions sent in by our listeners in today's episode.
TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE
Announcer: You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.
Dr. Martin: Well, good morning everyone. And welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great start to your day. We certainly are. Had a beautiful little session this morning on our private Facebook group, Rebuild Your Temple, our book club. Okay, let's get going with lots of questions. Dina. Okay, "my dad was recently diagnosed with liver rectal possible lung cancer." No fun. "He is on DHA from your clinic and taking one a day." Get that dosage up. If you want to destroy tumors, I would get the dosage up. Okay? Now, if I get a chance, I'm going to post a study that was done on DHA and becoming a tumor buster in 14 days. And it sort of acts like a Trojan horse. The tumor looking for oil and the wrong oil DHA comes in and it's a Trojan horse. Okay? Now, there hasn't been a lot of studies on this. You can't patent DHA.
Now remember, DHA, it's like omega-3 has, it's like you got different cars on the road. You got Toyotas, Hondas, Kias, Chevrolets, you name it. Well, omega-3's got different, like there's DHA and EPA and ALA. But DHA, your brain's made up of DHA. But DHA is part of my protocol. Anyone that has cancer, of course, vitamin D, get your levels tested. It really ought to be a crime for someone that has cancer and their doctor does not order vitamin D testing to see where you are, because vitamin D needs to be optimized. If you want to fight cancer, and there's research showing this, okay? You need to have your vitamin D levels optimized, and yet doctor don't even think of vitamin D when it comes to cancer. Eat steak. What did I say in my book, Sun Steak and Steel? Cancer hates steak. Loves sugar, but hates steak. Hates it. Okay? Hates it. Don't fuel it. Okay. Yeah, definitely, Dina, I would go to at least four to six DHA a day. That's my recommended dose when you're fighting cancer. Okay?
Stephanie, "can I take ultra digest with a medication?" She's taking a medication for blood pressure. Yeah. Yeah, sure you can. Digestive enzymes are good for. Your body makes digestive enzymes. Okay? You make lipase. They're pancreatic enzymes. Your pancreas makes lipase, amylase, protease, to break down carbs, to break down protein, to break down your macros and lipase for fat. So when you take a digestive enzyme, it's good for you because you're just, and as we get older, we don't make as many enzymes, our pancreas don't produce as many enzymes as we used to. And it's like American Express. Don't leave home without them. Digestive enzymes are so good for you. Okay? Yeah, I would. No problem. There's no side effects to taking.
Yvette is asking about eating eggshells. Well, how about walking on eggshells? But you have to understand, Yvette, in my radio days, there was a time, I'm going to say 10 years ago, maybe, but for about four or five weeks on my program, people were calling in to ask about eating eggshells. Somebody must have put it on social media or whatever back then. I can't remember exactly, but it just sort of became a hot thing. Well, eat eggshells. I don't know. Here's what I answered back then. I know you ought to eat the egg. And I understand there's calcium in the eggshells. You want to grind that up into a powder. And I know that some people use it for composting. They use that eggshells in their garden. Okay? But look, do it. I got no problem.
But listen, it's really important. Calcium, you want to eat. You don't want to take it as a supplement because it doesn't get to its intended destination. Calcium belongs in your bones, not in your blood. Okay? You need calcium. Absolutely. This is why I always told people, listen, you want to get calcium. You get it from the animal kingdom. Why? Okay. Why? Well, because calcium in the animal kingdom, eggs, meat, and cheese is delivered or it comes to you with what you need with calcium, and that is vitamin K2. K2 takes calcium and puts it where it belongs, takes it out of the blood and puts it into your bones and your teeth. Okay? So this is why I always say I never wanted people to take a calcium supplement. You don't need calcium. You eat it. Don't need it as a supplement. You need vitamin K2. That's why we put K2 in our vitamin D.
But when you're eating steak, you've got calcium. Did you know you had calcium in steak? Yeah. Did you know you have calcium in eggs? Of course you did. Did you know you have a lot of calcium in dairy? This is why I don't want people to ditch dairy. I want them to switch dairy. Like you don't need to be drinking no milk. Okay? What's the little asterisks? When I say milk, don't go to the grocery store and buy milk. You don't need it. Why do you have it? But if you have a cow in the backyard, go for it. You can drink milk. Okay? Otherwise, drink water and coffee. But calcium, okay? When you eat God's food, eggs, meat, and cheese, butter. You know what? You get calcium with vitamin K2 the way it's supposed to be. Man thinks they're smart. Okay? You need calcium. Osteoporosis, I heard it a million times. Well, my doctor wants me to increase my calcium supplement. I said, "Well, it's not going to get to its intended destination. I'm sorry." You want to eat eggshells? I got no problem with that. Okay? Eat it though. Okay. Thank you for the question.
Francis. Francis has got a friend that's been diagnosed with Lada, L-A-D-A 1.5 diabetes. So what Lada diabetes is? I'm trying to think if I ever saw that in my office. Maybe once, maybe twice. Lada is 1.5, and okay, here's what it means. Type one diabetes is autoimmune. Type two diabetes is lifestyle. Okay? So type one, your pancreas isn't working, your insulin isn't working properly, it's autoimmune. And we see a lot more of that today than we used to, by the way. Okay? A lot more. And lada is sort of in between the two. 1.5, they call it lada. And at the end of the day, it's autoimmune. And the body turns on itself. Probably started with leaky gut. Fungus gets to the pancreas. So you still need lifestyle changes. Whether you're even type one or type, like you're not living on carbohydrates.Type 1.5, you and carbs don't get along. So don't fool yourself with that. You need lifestyle changes if they're on, I think Francis is saying she's on Ozempic. Okay. Ozempic was a diabetic drug, by the way. Okay, guys. It wasn't created for weight loss. It was created for diabetes, Ozempic. Okay? But you need lifestyle changes. Okay? You need lifestyle changes. Low carb.
Okay, Nelly. Nelly's having no fun because she's been diagnosed with gluteal tendinopathy. Okay? A pain in the butt like your glutes. And you get a tendinopathy. It's probably a little bit of tearing in there. And it can be very sore and a hard time sitting, usually sitting in a car can really bother that gluteal tendinopathy. I used to be able to diagnose it in my clinic because I used to get patient on a table and I would put my finger right on the bobo. And they didn't like me for it, but I said, "Okay, you got a gluteal tendinopathy. And if you can get a massage therapist or whatever to get working right at that spot and relieve it." One of the things that I've found for patients that help them is you get a ball, like maybe a softball, but softball's not that soft. You know what I mean? Or a baseball or a golf ball. Something very hard. And get on the floor with a mat or a carpet and get that ball right on the spot and work it out. It's one of the best things you can do. Curcumin, inflammation. I like combining with Navitol pine bark because it's very anti-inflammatory. Those are the things that I would do. Thank you, Nelly.
Carla. Carla's wondering about a statement about her sister-in-law makes. "Dr. Martin is a quack." Well, she didn't say that. Well, maybe she did. But Carla is saying, "Dr. Martin is wrong because your brain needs carbs. Can't operate without carbs." Now, Carla, tell your sister-in-law that I love her. Okay? But that she's wrong. If your brain needs sugar, it'll turn steak into sugar. Okay? Your brain operates much better on ketones than it does on glucose. You know what's happening in our world today in brains? Is the brain is flooded with a fuel that it can't use. Okay? It's flooded with it. It's like you are floating on the Atlantic and you're thirsty, but you can't drink the water in the ocean, right? Can't drink that water. Nah. So we live in a world where people are carboholics and the brain is flooded because carbs break down into glucose rapidly and you're flooding the brain and sugar makes the brain shrink. Fat makes your brain thrive. Now the right fat, saturated fat, DHA fat. Your brain loves that. That's why your brain loves eggs, meat, and cheese more than bread, and it ain't even close.
So your sister-in-law, God love her, is wrong about that. Your brain thrives in ketones when your body is burning a different fuel. That's the whole idea of the eggs, meat, and cheese diet. Is your body's changing fuel? You used to be a carboholic because you were taught that carbs are good. Carbs are needed. And the food pyramid and everybody else and all the gurus and all the so-called experts were telling you that you need carbs. You don't need a lot of protein and fat because fat will make you fat and fat will clog up your arteries and yada, yada, yada. Well, they weren't right about that. They were wrong about it. And I've been screaming about it for 50 years. Remember, I got trained by my daddy. My daddy was a diabetic. And he said, "Son, it's sugar diabetes." And you know what Alzheimer's is? It's type three diabetes. Sugar is not what you need. You don't need sugar. You need fat in protein. That'll give you ketones and your body will thank you. Your brain will thank you.
Look, I mean, I know I go against the grain, but am I saying you're never going to have another carb the rest of your life? I'm not saying that. We're carb loaded and the brains are suffering. Your brain is suffering because of it, i.e. look at the difference today compared to what it used to be, the increase in mental health issues. 50%, we read the statistic the other day. 50% of adults will get a mental health disorder diagnosis in their lifetime. Look at Alzheimer's. Look at dementia. Wrong fuel. Wrong fuel. Okay. I get adamant about it. And Carla, I was going to say I was going to get a migraine, but I love the question. It's a good question. How do I answer my sister-in-law?
Okay. Linda, "my question is about A1C." I love A1C. I love that measurement because it's an average of your blood sugars over three to four month period. What happens? How do they measure that? Well, sugar, okay? Sugar attaches itself to hemoglobin in your red blood cell. They can measure it. How much sugar is attaching to your hemoglobin? It glycates the hemoglobin. Sugar destroys, guys. I've always said that to you. Sugar is toxic. It's toxic. Ask a diabetic. It destroys. It destroys red blood cells. It glycates them. The hemoglobin where your red blood cells are carrying oxygen. So that's why I love A1C. I love that test. So here's what the question was. Okay. Linda, "I had my A1C tested at 6.0." It's too high. You in carbs, Linda, don't get along. Don't fool yourself. If your A1C is six, it's too high. You're on the Titanic. You've got to get off. So don't fool yourself. You and carbs don't get along.
You got to get your A1C down to, I like 5.4 or lower. Okay? Because when it's above 5.4, you really have metabolic syndrome. Okay? Now, doctors, they don't worry about it because six is a little high, but they don't get too uptight because all they're waiting for, they wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait till you're a diabetic and then they react to it. But 6.0, Linda's too high. So keep working. Eggs, meat, and cheese. Lower your A1C. It's really important. Okay? It's a beautiful test and it don't lie. Okay. That's why I used to tell my patients in the office all the time, "Oh, I got your A1C. It ain't lying. You're on the Titanic. We're nothing to worry about the deck chairs too much. We're going to worry about getting you into a life boat."
Okay. Judith. "Hello, Dr. Martin. Could you please send me the protocol for tumors?" Well, we did it up. With the setup for Europe. Okay. For DHA and vitamin D, I'm 48 years old. Have a lump in my right breast. Well, I'll tell you something. Judith, you get dim. I don't know if you can in Europe or not. If not, you got to eat flax seeds, take a tablespoon, maybe even two tablespoons a day. Why it'll dim out that estrogen. Really important to block estrogen. Our menopausal formula has dim in it. Like people, why do you have dim? I got low levels of estrogen. No, you don't. No, you don't. You have lower levels than you used to. But I'm talking about xenoestrogens. The world is full of estrogen. For breast cancer, why do you think we see so much breast cancer today? Insulin? Estrogen. Get that estrogen down. Dim it out. D-I-M. Broccoli. But you got to eat a bushel of broccoli to get the amount of dim you need. Okay. Thank you, Judith. High probability of a malignant tumor. Well, get at it and don't feed the bear. There's yeast in there somewhere. Guaranteed in that tumor. Don't feed it. High DHA. I would do three or four grams a day of DHA.
Mary, "is it possible to cleanse the liver from cirrhosis with a 30-day reset?" Well, if liver has become cirrhotic, now listen, this is really important to understand. Your liver is so capable of regeneration. It's one of the only organs in your body that can regenerate. Okay? So there's always hope. Cirrhosis is very advanced. Okay? Fatty liver, you can clean that up for sure, 100%. Because you just get on the eggs, meat, and cheese, and your liver empties itself. Because remember what causes it. Okay? Fructose. Alcohol, that's how you get cirrhosis. You pack the liver up, and the liver becomes sclerotic. It hardens, and it doesn't work properly. Now, I would do the 30-day reset. Absolutely you should. I've seen miracles happen in the liver because the liver is the organ that regenerates. It is so essential to your body that God gave it the ability to regenerate. Kidneys? Not so much. Liver? Yes. But did the right thing and no sugar. That was Mary.
Thomas, he's got familial hypocholesterolemia. Oh, give it to medicine to give it a big name. You got a high cholesterol. That's all right, Thomas. I'm not worried about you. Now, I can't give you medical advice to go against your doctor's advice. I can't do that. I just give you generalities like familial hypocholesterolemia. Does that make you more susceptible to heart disease? No. They say it does, but statistically it's not. And their solution is to put you on a statin drug. It's in their DNA, guys. In medicine, statin drugs is in their DNA. I mean, they got the can't help its because they're programmed. They're taught. Cholesterol, bad. Familial hypercholesterolemia, Dr. Martin. It's familial. Yeah, I know. I got familial diabetes coming out my wazoo. But genetics load the gun. Your diet pulls the trigger. Lower, not your cholesterol. Lower your triglycerides. That's what you got to look at. Look at your lipid profile. They made LDL the boogeyman, and now they're into appo and small particle and larger particles, and they get into weeds to keep you on statin drugs. You think statin drugs, you think the makers of Lipitor and Crestor and Zocor and the rest of them, do you think they are going to give up on their cash cow? They hoodwinked the whole world. And cholesterol's the boogeyman. I don't see that. You want low triglycerides and high HDL. Diet affects that big time.
So look, I realize they scare the living life out of you because they tell you you're at high risk for a heart attack or a stroke and that. I don't buy it. I'm sorry. I just don't buy it. It's not been my experience. And if cholesterol was at the root of heart disease. Can I say something? We haven't got rid of heart disease. We would have got rid of it. Why? Because statin drugs are the most prescribed drugs in the world. Hasn't even made a dent. Heart disease is worse than ever. We spent a couple of days this week talking about chronic disease. And what's the problem? Why are the statistics so bad? It's frightening. Why do 93% of the population have trouble with metabolic syndrome? Which is, by the way, high triglycerides and low HDL. The people that live the longest have the highest cholesterol. Your brain is made up of it. I just don't understand why you want to lower that. I don't want to lower my brain cholesterol. Fat head. Cholesterol is a yellow waxy substance. So it got a bad rap. Look, it's clogging your arteries. Why would you blame the police if they're at the crime scene? Why would you blame the firemen because they're at the fire? Cholesterol, it's in every cell in your body. Cholesterol is made to transport. It goes to the scene. It's going through your arteries. Why is it going through your blood? Well, it's a carrier. It's got wagons.
You ever seen those trucks that got two trailers in the back of them? Okay. That's HDL cholesterol. Carries your hormones. Ladies, a lot of women have very low cholesterol. First of all, because they don't eat it. They like their salad. They like chicken and salad. Right? And I said, "Well, your hormones are going to suffer. You're a carboholic. The worst thing you can do for your thyroid. Worst thing you can do for your hormones." You want cholesterol and it'll run through anyway because your body, it don't trust you. 85% of your cholesterol, your body makes it. You're supposed to make up for 15%. If you don't, well, you're going to be low. Why do you want to be low? And the other wagon at the back is to take triglycerides and bring them back to the liver for processing. That was Thomas. And Thomas, thank you. Thank you. Thank you for the question. It got me on a diatribe. I'm so opinionated.
Okay. Let's see. Can we get through this? Probably not. We're going to have to do something Monday, I think. Louise is asking about basal cell carcinoma for her husband who's 86. I wouldn't worry about it for five seconds, Louise. Basal cell carcinoma. Okay? Unless it's really bothering him. What are you going to do? They want to take it off. It's be minor surgery. I'm not worried about basal cell carcinoma. It ain't going to kill him. Get his vitamin D levels up real good. Get his immune system up real good. Louise, you can't make me worry about it. That's what I'm really trying to say. Okay?
Okay. Collette. Collette, I'm going to get a migraine. I'm going to get a migraine. And you know what? I want you to answer. Hey, listen up folks. I want you to ask questions. Okay? So when I say you're giving me a migraine, I'm teasing you because I like the question. You know what Colette said? "Dr. Martin, is bacon carcinogenic?" No. Bacon's got a bad wrap. They really got a bad rap. Bacon is good for you. "Dr. Martin, look at the saturated fat in bacon." No, the fat is oleic acid. The same oil that's in olive oil. Is olive oil good for you? You bet your boots it is. But so is bacon. It's very low carb. It's high protein and high fat. Do I like that? Yeah. You see, I don't like carbs and fat. That's a donut. That's rat chow. When they want to fatten up a rat, you know what they do in the laboratory? They give them rat chow. Well, you know what that is? Like a donut, a modern made donut. Okay? Carbs and fat. No, no. Bacon is protein and fat. Very, very good for you. Start your day with bacon and eggs. Your body will thank you. It'll tell you, "You know what? I like that fuel. Is that ever good." And bacon tastes good.
I had patients in the office just to tell you, "What am I going to eat, Dr. Martin?" I said, "You like bacon?" "I love bacon." And then they put their hand up and they go, "Dr. Martin, my doctor said..." I said, "no, no, no. Your doctor didn't take any nutrition. They don't know anything about nutrition. They didn't study nutrition in medical school. And I got, I don't know how many thousand hours of nutrition. So I'm going to tell you the truth. Do you like bacon?" "Yes." I said, "eat lots of it. It's good for you. Do you hear me? You like bacon?" "Yes. Can I have it every day, Dr. Martin?" "Yeah, twice a day, if you want." "It's got lots of calories." "Who cares?" "You'll find yourself full." They've tested this, guys. Fruit Loops against bacon. Tested it. Fruit loops are oatmeal. Your blood sugar skyrockets. What goes up must come down, and within a few hours, you know what? You're hungry. Bacon? Okay. Your blood sugar stays level. You don't have a spike in insulin, and your body, a few hours later, you're not hungry. It's so good for you.
So when someone tells you, "Don't eat bacon," run Forrest, run. They don't know what they're talking about. "Well, Dr. Martin, it's processed meat." Look, there's good, better, and best bacon. Bacon is good. Enjoy. It's like coffee, guys. Like all the years of coffee, I have to limit because my doctor and I and I can't have coffee and I hear it's bad, I hear it's acidic, I hear it's this, and coffee is diuretic and... I heard it a million times in my office on my radio show and on my podcast. And I kept saying, "It's a gift of God. Enjoy it." "You mean, Dr. Martin I can have coffee?" "Yes. Yes. Yes. It's good for you." Where did you hear that? Right here. Bacon. Good. Good. Eat fat and get lean. I wrote a book. Eat bacon. It ain't calories.
Okay. I'm going to stop there because I ain't getting done with all the questions. We're almost there though. We got through it. I got four or five. So we'll continue this on Monday. Okay? Lord willing. Now guys, see what happened here this morning? There is no question that's not a good question. Ask your questions. Okay? I get a little bit carried away at times, but that's me. Okay? That's me. Okay. Guys, thanks for coming on this program making it this success that it is. We love you dearly. Talk to you soon.
Announcer: You've reached the end of another Doctor Is In Podcast, with your hosts, Doctor Martin Junior and Senior. Be sure to catch our next episode and thanks for listening!
