Announcer: You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.
Dr. Martin: Well, good morning everyone. Once again, welcome to Another Live this morning on the last day of 2025. Okay, so let's get going. We're going to talk about why the reset. Okay? Why the reset? And I want to get you guys ready for the reset. Now listen, there's a reason for a 30-day program because people ask me that all the time. Okay? And remember why the reset was created. It's 30 days. Why? Okay. And guys, this came strictly out of clinical experience. I tell the story in the book, Sunsteak and Steel. I told it in metabolic syndrome. And the thing that ... I give you a little history of me. Okay? I do this sometimes when I talk about the books that I've written. Okay? Originally, one of my first books was on chronic fatigue syndrome. Fatigue, energy. I went into cortisol, adrenal gland exhaustion, talked all about it.
Way ahead of time. Doctors didn't know what I was talking about when I talked about adrenal gland exhaustion. Okay? So I wrote that book. In 2011, Tony Jr. And I wrote a book together, serial killers, two hormones that Once You Dead. One of them, and our practice shifted from energy, low energy. We saw all sorts of patients, okay? But just generally, we saw a real trend from fatigue to major problems with insulin. And that's why we wrote the book, Two Hormones I Want You Dead: Insulin and Cortisol. So that was 2011, guys. On the 100th year anniversary of the Martin Clinic, we wrote that book, celebrating my grandfather and my father. Okay? 2011. A hundred years. Crazy. But we were measuring insulin resistance. Guys, go back to 2011. What? What are you talking about? Well, I saw a lot of diabetic patients, but even more than that, I was seeing what we would call pre-diabetic patients.
And when we were looking at their blood work, I was noticing a major trend in insulin production A1c, which is an average of blood sugar going up and up and up and up. My diabetes has been around forever, guys, but not like this. Not like this.
In the world today, worldwide, every seven seconds somebody dies. This is recent statistics. Every seven seconds, somebody dies from diabetes. So that's what I was seeing in my office, this huge increase in insulin and the condition of insulin resistance and got to a point. In 2016, I didn't even say it. The World Health Organization was saying it. 88% of the population had some form of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. That's what we called it. By 2022 or 2021, it was up to 93% of the population. I wrote about it in the book, Sun, Steak and Steel. 93% of the population have trouble with metabolic syndrome. They have trouble with insulin. And I tell you why. My practice had shifted to metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is characterized by ... Okay, let's just go over it quickly. High A1C, high triglycerides, low HDL, belly fat, the elevated blood sugar I already talked about, elevated blood pressure.
Okay? These are signs and I added a couple because I saw it in my office. It was consistent, consistent, consistent. I added these uric acid high with or without gout and vitamin D low. And I don't know if I added it, but I had it in my nog in my head, low levels of B12. Those are metabolic syndrome, 93% of the population. So what I tried to do in my office is fix that. It's a food problem. Isn't it amazing that in medical school, even today, they don't learn anything about food? You could slap most physicians with protein and they wouldn't know what ... Protein.
Nutrition 101, they don't know because they don't think food is important. Just here's their head. Moderation. Everything's good in moderation. Well, if 93% of the population have a very serious condition, metabolic syndrome, because remember now, metabolic syndrome is at the root of heart disease, biggest killer today, cancer, out of control today, Alzheimer's, out of control today, diabetes. Well, no kidding. Every seven seconds, someone dies from diabetes in this world. Autoimmune, it's gone crazy. And I think I was the first guy, I think, and I never read it before me, that said autoimmune. Yeah, it's leaky gut, 100%. But it's also very much associated, and that's the reason it's gone so bad why we see so much autoimmune. It is another sign of metabolic syndrome. So you put those together, my friend. And Houston, we got a problem, and we're not going to solve it unless we fix food.
The world out there, their biggest problem, a lot of people, it's the climate. Well, that's not your biggest problem. Your biggest problem is food. What'll kill us and what is killing us is our insadiable appetite for carbohydrates. The world is gone. I said this. You guys have heard it. The world has gone saturated stupid. What do I mean by that? Well, fat, Dr. Martin. Look at the fat in eggs. Look at the fat. You're talking about eating bacon in the morning? That's bad. Look at the fat. Fat clogs up your arteries. No, it doesn't. Sugar does. And I spent the day yesterday talking about sugar, how destructive it is. And you and I were not meant to consume a boatload of sugar or anything with sugar molecules holding hands and breaking down sugar into sugar rapidly in the bloodstream. That's the problem we have today.
And I found in my practice, and this is clinical, okay? I didn't do research. I did clinical studies, observe my patients. Before and after testing. I used to tell my patients, "You have an allergy." Two carbs. What? Yep. You got an allergy and we need to fix that. It takes 30 days. Okay? It takes 30 days. The thing you want to do, number one, is change fuels. And in my book, Sunsteak and Steel, I give a couple of illustrations. Let's do quickly. One, go to the airport. Watch when they fuel up the planes. They don't go to the gas station, the plane, and they fill up with 87 octane. It's fuel. Yeah, but we want to save money. We're going to use 87. No, don't do that. Not in a plane. It's fuel.
It's not jet fuel. Jet fuel is so high in octane. So when you eat bread, noodles, pasta, rice, cereals, you drink juice, you drink grocery store bought milk. Muffins and bagels. Oh, Dr. Martin, it's 12 grain. It's just sugar molecules holding hands. That's all it is. And it's going to break down. And now you're putting 87 in your tank instead of 99. Illustration number two, the wood stove. You live in a log cabin. Paper and twigs. Right? Oh, I'm going to heat my house. In my wood stove, I got paper and twigs. It burns fast, doesn't it? Yeah. That's carbs. That's what carbohydrates do. It's paper and twigs. You want logs. That's why I talk about eggs, meat, cheese, logs on the fire. It's a different fuel. It burns slowly. You don't need insulin for that. You need a little bit, but not much. So guys, this is what happens.
This is why 30 days. And when you do the reset, in the book here, Sunsteak and Steel, I talk about the metabolic reset. I have a whole chapter on it. And what I did is just question and answer. It's just like it's Q&A Friday. You guys love Q&A Friday. It's our most popular program of the week, Q&A Friday. You know me, I like answering questions. So what we're doing for 30 days is we're changing fuel. You're going to burn 99% octane. You're going to burn jet fuel. Your little mitochondria. Your battery packs in your cells in your body, your muscle cells, your heart cells, your brain cells, your cell, cell cells. They've got mitochondria. They got battery packs. And now you're giving them 99% octain. I'm not kidding you guys. I proved it. And am I going to safely say 100,000 people have tried to reset?
It's unreal. It's unreal. So you got to eat. Let me give you a quote. Okay? This is a quote from my book, Sun Steak and Seal. Okay? The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison. The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison. We are poisoning ourselves. Put near 200 pounds of sugar a year, your body would never meant for that. Your body wasn't meant for all that processed foods. Your body was never meant for all that bad oil. The oil that belongs in your car and not in your food and not in your body from margarine to crackers. So the reset is a 30 day guaranteed program to get rid of metabolic syndrome, to get rid of that precursor to every disease that you can think of.
That's not an infection. Hey guys, it's almost, what do you got to lose? What do you got to lose? And the world out there, like I said, when saturated stupid, saturated fat is bad when it isn't. It's a satisfied fat and your body needs it. Okay? Now, let me talk about everything that's going to happen. Now, first of all, let me say this before we get into ... I got 14 things that are going to happen in your body. And I've proven this to thousands and thousands of patients over the years and a lot of people that I've never even met that they read the book or heard the podcast. Okay? Now, Dr. Martin, here's a question. Is this a weight loss program? Well, it wasn't meant for that. It wasn't meant for weight loss. I was aiming at insulin. Now remember though, insulin is a fat storing hormone.
If insulin is present in your blood, it is impossible to lose fat because it's a fat storing hormone. So thousands of people have found when they need to lose weight, that this is the best way to do it. And I'll tell you why. The world out there is, it's very simple, guys. Okay? I've been around long time, so here it is. Eat less, move more. I tell a story, okay? I tell a story in there. In 2016, remember the biggest losers? That show ended in 2016, and then they did a follow-up with everyone that was on that program. You know what happened? The biggest losers? They all got their weight back. And I'm going to tell you something too. Do you know the GLP-1s, the shortcut to losing weight? Look, I get it. I'm the most sympathetic person that you want to talk to when it comes to losing weight.
Okay? I had a weight loss clinic. We never talked calories, not once. It was never eat less and move more. If that would be successful, well, we would have licked obesity. But you see, for me, the issue is hormones. Fix insulin. It'll fix your leptin, which is your hunger hormone. You got to eat anyways. You might as well eat the right foods. And then after 30 days, you can bring back your vegetables. You can bring back certain fruit. You can bring it back into your life once you fix your hormones. And you got off the Titanic. 93% of the population in North America is on the Titanic. They may be partying. They think, "Well, not going to happen to me. I'm not going to get sick." In our new book, okay, Rebuild the Temple. The first lesson we talk about is insulin. And 200 patients followed for six years.
And the people that had the lowest insulin got no cancer, no heart disease, no Alzheimer's, no diabetes. They didn't get any of those. The ones with the highest, they got all those, almost invariably. So I aim, guys, at insulin because when you fix insulin, boy, you fix a lot of things. Okay? So let's just go over, okay? Because that was a preamble.
Well, I ain't going to get to 14 today. Okay? Now, if you follow me for any length of time, you know here on this program, one of the organs, the Rodney Dangerfield that gets no respect until it don't work no more, is your liver. Okay? Your liver is ugly, but it's really important. Okay? It is so important for your body. It's your detox organ. It does 600 thing. You need your liver to work properly. Everybody talks about a detox and then they go, "Well, I got to detox my bowel. That's why I eat fiber. Fiber just gives me such a big poo. I must be detoxing." No. No.
No, I'm not saying you shouldn't go to the bathroom, but that's not the key. The key to a detox is your liver. It works the night shift. It comes into the office when you're sleeping and it cleans. It's the cleaning crew. It makes glutathione. The Velcro needed to mop up heavy metals and toxins and microplastics and everything that you and I live around. Look, guys, I heard it again the other day because somebody said they were going to Costa Rica for a holiday. They weren't going to live there permanently. I told you about the patient that came into my office and said, "I'm moving to Costa Rica. I'm going to get rid of all the toxins." I said, "Oh, it sucks to be the rest of us." She thought I'd be happy for her. I said, "You think you're getting rid of all the toxins when you go to Costa Rica?
Now, you're going to get the sun good for you, but you ain't getting rid of microplastic." They're everywhere. They're in Costa Rica. They're in the ocean. They're in the air. Better to get your liver cleaned than moving to Costa Rica. And the reset, you know what it does? It empties your liver. It gets rid of the fat in the liver. You've got to eat fat to get rid of fat in your liver. You're going to eat fat and protein the way your body was designed. Okay? Your body was designed for it. So the first thing that you're going to fix is your liver. Guys, the more I think about it, the more I study, the more I look at research, I'm telling you, when you fix your liver, my word, that is so good for you because you know what I've said all the time.
Your liver, first of all, okay, what name did I give it? The Costco parking lot. Full. When it's full of fat, it don't detox. Fat attracts. The fat in your body attracts toxins. It's a resting place for toxin. So when you do the reset, you're emptying that liver. So we can do what it needs to do. And ladies, let me give you a little tip. When you go on the reset, one of the things that you will find, your thyroid, your gas pedal, your metabolism, the thyroid will work better. Why? Well, in an empty liver, you are now able to convert T4 thyroid hormone to the active one that your thyroid really needs. That's T3. That happens mostly in the liver. Plus, your hormones get better. Why is that? Because your liver makes cholesterol. And the more cholesterol you have, the more transport, the more Amazon trucks you have on the highways and byways of your body, the blood vessels, they carry.
Remember, HDL especially, but LDL2, carry your hormones. Men, testosterone. Ladies, estrogen and progesterone. How do you think they get into your body? Your liver. Cholesterol delivers. It's so important to empty your liver. Now, when your liver is empty, you're helping your heart. What? You're helping your heart. Dr. Martin, you're crazier in the hood Al. Nobody's ever told me that. You're helping your heart. You know why? When your liver is empty, your triglycerides, fat balls go down. How do you get high triglycerides? Fat balls in your blood that clog up your arteries. When your liver's full, how does your liver become full? Sugar. And crappy carbs. The Costco parking lot gets full and your triglycerides go up and your cholesterol goes down. That's heart disease, my friend. That's a big problem. I know you don't get taught this, but this is how your body works. And remember, your liver's not Las Vegas.
What happens in vagus stays in Vegas. Not in the liver. What happens in the liver affects your heart. Who knew? I talk about this all the time, guys. Triglycerides. You know what? You look at your blood work and that's why I have a chapter in sunsteak and steel, like a chapter on, okay, your biomarkers. The other day we talked about CRP and the importance of it. C-reactive protein, guess where that comes out of? Guess where CRP comes out of? Your liver. This is why, guys. Education, education, education. I'm passionate about it. I'm amazed. We're in 2025 and you talk to most physicians, not all, most. They don't know what you're talking about. Don't worry about your liver until you get cirrhosis. I never thought I would see in my lifetime. I mean this, guys, I talked about this on my radio show. Around 2008 or ... I don't remember.
Fatty liver in kids. I never, ever, ever thought I would see it. And let me tell you one more thing. In 1970, when I went to school, in all my medical textbooks, I never, ever saw one thing written about fatty liver. Now I saw cirrhosis of the liver and alcoholics. I saw hepatitis from a viral, but I never, ever, ever even read about fatty liver. And today, easily guess that about half of the population got fatty liver and they don't even know it.
Well, one out of 14, guys. We got to one. We got to the liver. Okay? That's what the reset does. It empties the liver. Why wouldn't you want to do that? Okay? So if you want to join, let us know. Okay? Because then we'll pump your tires up. Join us every day. But you can join the private Facebook group. Okay? The Martin Clinic private Facebook group. Join that. And we'll pump up your tires every day on the reset. You want to start? Start tomorrow? You want to start on Monday? Okay. You want to start on Monday? That's all right too. Start. Don't put it off, guys. It's good for everyone. There isn't anyone that doesn't benefit from eating eggs, meat, and cheese. There's not anyone that won't benefit from that. Okay. Guys, last show of 2025. Okay. We're off tomorrow. Okay? Off tomorrow. And then prayerfully back on Friday Q&A. If we have enough questions, if not, we will continue on to get to the other 13 things.
Okay? What 14 things happen on the reset? The first one is the liver. Okay? The first one is the liver. Okay. Guys, we love you dearly. Have you got our new book? Okay. Rebuild your temple. Boy, the reviews have been great. Again, if you got the book, you can join us in our book club. We got a private Facebook book club for Rebuild Your Temple. Guys, there's a reason it's number one in Canada. And we're just starting in the United States with the pushing of this book, and you're going to love it. I was telling Tony Jr. Today, I said, "I think we got a winner. Easy read and I think you'll enjoy it. " Okay? I really do. And I wouldn't say that if I didn't mean it. Okay? And I know I'm biased. Of course I am. But I think there's a number 25 of books that I've written and more than, I'm going to say almost 20 with Tony Jr. We make a good team. My son drags me along, okay? But he's smart. Anyway, okay. We love you guys and God bless you. Have a happy new year and prayerfully, we'll see you Friday. Talk to you soon.
