Dr. Martin answers questions sent in by our listeners in today's episode.
TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE
Announcer: You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.
Dr. Martin: Well, good morning everyone, and once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great start to your day, and we sure appreciate you guys coming on with us. Always exciting, always fun. Did you get the notice today on your email? If you didn't, a new book is coming out called Rebuilding Your Temple. And what we did in the book, we put a spiritual aspect to it and health and combined it. So Tony Jr. and I, Doc Junior as many call him, wrote half and I wrote half and we blended it together. We think, guys, look, I think you're going to love this book and if you want to sign up, go to our website, martinclinic.com and there's a page where you can sign up to get the notification when the book is out okay? You'll be first on the list and coming out around American Thanksgiving.
Guys, I'm going to tell you something. This is going to make a wonderful, wonderful Christmas gift. If you're wondering what to give people, why not give them this gift Rebuilding Your Temple. I'm telling you, I love this book. I know I wrote half of it. No, but I'm serious. We gave it out to a few people to read ahead of time, of course, and the feedback we got just tremendous. Okay? So you'll love this book Rebuilding Your Temple, coming to a theater near you very soon. And so you can sign up at martinclinic.com. Okay? So that's one announcement, okay? Okay, let's get to our questions. We didn't finish Q and A, but you know what, Ken had a question. I saw it this morning, so I just added it to our list, okay, because I still got some other questions I want to get to.
But Ken asked a question this morning because he went to his dentist and told his dentist that he was taking oil of oregano orally, okay? You were taking oil of oregano drops, putting it in your mouth, and the dentist said, don't do that. Why? Because the dentist is wrong. I get it. I understand why they say it. I'm surprised that your dentist would even know what oil of oregano was, but if they did good for them, and the dentist said what most people think. I have over the years probably had to answer this question 500 times, maybe more because people would come to my office, they'd go to the health food store or whatever, but you can't take oil of oregano every day. Dr. Martin's crazier than a hoot owl. Well, that may be true, but I'm right about this.
And again, I used the illustration. I had patients come in, you could smell 'em a mile away. It was coming out of their pores. What were they taking every day? Garlic. They put a touch of garlic in their gums in between the lips and they'd have some garlic, and eventually it starts coming out your pores and people, they would come in and I said, oh, you had your garlic today, didn't you? And look, garlic is wonderful for you. Now, it may be not wonderful for your spouse or wonderful for the people around you because garlic has a real strong odor to it, but it's still good for you. It's an antibacterial. It doesn't kill your good guys. It only kills the bad guys. And oil of oregano is the same. It does not disrupt your microbiome. I know they say that, but it doesn't. You can take it every day. You can take it twice a day. You can take it 10 times a day, okay? I don't care how many times you take it, it's only good for you. It just kills bad guys. And plus it's antiviral, it's antifungal. It's anti-parasitical.
So I know what they say. I get that. I've answered this a million times, but I'm glad you asked because I want you to ask questions. I want you to ask questions and you are going to get my opinion on it. Am I right? I think so. I'm not arrogant about it though. People have their opinions on stuff and good for them, but I was in practice. I knew after all these years what works, what doesn't work? You ask me about stuff and I go, oh, yeah, yeah, you want to use it, use it. But I'll tell you something, one thing I've been consistent about is oil of oregano. I love it. I've seen it work tens of thousands of times. I know what it does inside the body. Completely safe. A very powerful antifungal, anti parasitic antibiotic. God gave us antibiotics in nature and oil of oregano is on the top of the food chain in my opinion. Okay? And I think I'm right about it.
Okay, so that was Ken. Thank you, Ken. You put that up on the private Facebook group and I get it. Thank you very much. Okay, Jackie, "why suddenly after going stricter keto," okay, "eliminating bad foods, am I getting rumbling stomach, diarrhea and smelly gases mostly in the evenings?" Here's my take on it, Jackie. Some people get this on the reset, okay? I'm not high on the word keto, okay? I'm not high on it. And the reason I say that is because a lot of people then they start eating crappy keto foods, they're processed, and they may be lower in carbohydrate, but they're still processed foods and I don't like that. I like the reset eggs, meat and cheese. Okay? Dairy, good dairy, butter, cream, plain, plain yogurt. And I like that. Okay? I like meat of any kind, including fish, and I love eggs.
So those are your best foods in the world to eat. It's not even close. And sometimes when you get away from eating carbohydrates, like crappy carbs and you're not eating any sugar, what's happening, I think, and I think I'm pretty right about this, Jackie, is you know what you're getting what we call a die off. What's happening? Well, your parasites are dying and they don't like it. They're putting up a fight. Your yeast, your fungus is dying. Candida albicans, it's dying. It's called the die off. They're screaming at you. They live on junk and you aren't giving them junk anymore, and they don't like it. They're not being fed. You know my thing. Don't feed the bears, okay?
Don't feed the bears. Well, when you don't give parasites something to eat, they hate you and they can make your stomach gurgle, your body trying to get rid of them by having diarrhea and that kind of thing. So is it a good thing? Yeah, they're dying off. Some people get a pretty major die off. I've had people really unwell for a few days. Sometimes they call it the keto flu. You're changing fuels, so that can happen, but I'm more into no, your parasites are dying. Your unwanted pets inside of you are not happy puppies. Okay? That's what I believe is happening to you.
Okay, let's do another question. Elaine, "when making Dr. Martin's perfect smoothie, do I put flaxseed in whole or grind it up?" Well, that's up to you. I always say this, okay? Your body knows how to grind up stuff. If you have a good acidity in your stomach, your seeds like flax seeds are going to get ground to a pulp. Let me tell you that. Okay? I heard this. I don't know how many times I got asked on my radio show, Dr. Martin, you are saying just take flaxseed and you need to ground flaxseed. Otherwise it's no good. Who told you that? Who told you that? That's what I used to say on the radio. Who said it? Okay. And then they'd tell me and I'd say, well, who's he? Your body has a grinding system. Now if you want to put it in Dr. Martin's perfect smoothie, it's going to get ground up as you blend it, but your body knows how to grind up flaxseeds. Now look, if you have diverticulosis where you've got pouches in the bowel, well then maybe you want to grind it up ahead of time, okay? But your party knows how to do that, okay? Thanks for the question. It's a very good question, Elaine. We love you.
David. He's having surgery in January. The medical form says to stop all supplements and vitamins two weeks prior to surgery. That David just gave me a migraine. You see my blood pressure going up because you have to understand where they're coming from. They don't know what they're talking about. So when you don't know what you're talking about, you say stupid things. You got to stop all supplements, it might interfere with the surgery. You're getting chemo. You better not take any supplements because it might interfere with the chemo. Says people who know nothing about supplements. Why don't they say, you know what? I want you to stop eating for two weeks before surgery. Would you listen to that? Two weeks can't have any food because supplements are supplements. They supplement your diet.
Vitamin D builds your immune system. Why would you stop that? Probiotics are on your side. They're going to help you to recover from surgery even faster. They'll build your immune system before and help your recovery after. Why would you stop that? And I know I'm going against the grain. It's so silly. It's so silly. Dr. Martin, what about omega-3 DHA? Isn't that a blood thinner? No, it's not. That's not the way it works. It lubricates your blood vessels. It doesn't thin your platelets. What about Navitol? No, it protects your cells. It elevates your glutathione. It elevates your nitric oxide. You'd want all of that stuff as you go into surgery. Anywho, I know I'm the lone ranger. Like I said, I get a migraine. Why? Because it doesn't make any sense. Brought to you by people that don't know anything about supplements. I'm sorry, but they don't.
You know what I always say? You might as well go see your plumber. If you're going to go to your doctor and ask them about supplements. Go to your plumber, you'll get better advice. They don't teach it in medical school. They should, and maybe it's coming, but they don't. They don't take supplements. The only thing they take is a fear campaign that lasts them a few days. You know what it is vitamin D, ooh vitamin D. You're going to get toxic, it's fat soluable. That's all they know. It's fat soluble and you're going to get toxic, but they'd never seen a case. They haven't seen a case of it. Do you know every year someone dies from drinking too much water? Seriously, it's actually a condition. Now, I want everyone to stop drinking water because one person died from drinking too much water. Hello? No one's ever died from vitamin D ever. There's no recorded cases of a death. I know why you died. You took too much Vitamin D. Are you kidding me? I can't get over it. I hope I never get over it. The silliness.
And we're in Canada here, okay? And you know what there is now there's a war going on against supplements. You know what's happening? Health Canada in cahoots with big pharma. They want to get rid of supplements. They only want you to be able to get a prescription for a supplement. Well, good luck. I'm telling you what's happening. Good luck. Big pharma don't want their supplements, and if they do, they want to be able to make them and then doctors hand them out because they're so dangerous. No, they're not. My word can't get over it. Okay, that with David. David, I went on a rant just for you.
Paul. Did I answer this the other day? Paul, I can't remember. "Is it possible for individuals with elevated A1C or diabetes to be deficient in potassium?" Well, yes. Yes, it's possible. A lot of people are deficient in potassium. Potassium is a very important electrolyte, very important. And a lot of people are deficient in potassium. Absolutely they are. And potassium can prevent kidney stones. Yep. Potassium neutralizes uric acid. Yep. I love potassium. Okay, let me answer another one, Paul, because I'm going to put someone in with you because I saw this this morning. Gail, "I am lacking in magnesium and electrolytes," if I am lacking. Okay, "should I be drinking less water?" No. You should be adding electrolytes.
So I like Himalayan salt, adding salt. You can actually buy electrolytes, okay? You can buy them. You can add them to your water. I like electrolytes because people are so dehydrated today and they lack magnesium. Okay? I love magnesium. You guys know that I love potassium and you ain't going to get enough potassium by eating a banana. Okay? I know bananas have potassium. You know what has more potassium than a banana? Let me see. Okay, here's a question for my audience because I've answered this before. Let's see. I'm going to look at my list here and see if anybody answers. What has more potassium than a banana? Anybody want to answer the question?
Okay, what has more potassium. Bacon, Denise, Wendy, Margaret, you guys are so stinking smart. Tina, Dave, Sandy. Coconut. Coconut has a lot of potassium. You're right. Judy Steak. You're right. It's got a lot of potassium, but pumpkin seeds, not so much, June. Okay, bacon, Gloria, Kathy, Beth, bacon. Francis, bacon. You guys are so stinking smart. Theresa, avocado. Yes, it does have a lot of potassium. Bacon has more. Why wouldn't you eat bacon? We got a lot of potassium. How do you like that? Okay, don't you just love bacon. And let me see. Okay, couple more here. Let's get going. And that was Paul. Thanks Paul.
Shelley wants me to speak about hormone replacement therapy. I talk about it all the time. Why is it so bad today? Well, there's so much horror-mones. A lot of it has to do with xenoestrogens. Our environment adds stress to the mix. A lot more stress today. Look, stress has been around as long as mankind has been around, right? God gave us two organs called adrenals on top of kidneys that secrete a stress hormone called cortisol. The problem is today it's on full-time job and it shouldn't be. Okay? And when it's on full-time, 24 and seven, cortisol really messes up the rest. It pours gasoline on the fire of horror-mones. So you have the environment. We have a hundred thousand new chemicals created since World War II. They're everywhere. We have plastic xenoestrogens and microplastics everywhere in the water, in the soil. We have pesticides, we have herbicides. All those things mimic estrogen. They're called xenoestrogens. Add cortisol to the mix and you got horror-mones.
I talk about it all the time, and one way, doctors, they like hormone replacement therapy. I do and I don't. I don't like synthetic hormone replacement therapy. I like bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, but never with estrogen. Never in my opinion, never. I don't like estrogen. You've got enough of it. I used to measure it, and I'm telling you, it was coming out both ears. For most women, and most men. Estrogen is a growth hormone and it messes up your thyroid and you get out of balance whether you're in perimenopause or menopause. I don't like it. I like progesterone and I want to elevate progesterone. That's the key. One of the biggest keys in balancing hormones, okay? So, that is why in a short little Q and A, to give you the answer to why, Shelley, why there's so much problems today. I wouldn't take HRT hormone replacement therapy, not the synthetic version. They give you horses' urine, I don't like it. You're not a horse. You don't eat hay.
Okay, Carmel. "What can I do? I've been diagnosed with osteoarthritis." Well, keep moving. Move it or lose it like joints. Okay? And osteo is a form of arthritis and a degenerative arthritis in the joints. You can get 'em in the fingers and the knees everywhere. You can get osteoarthritis in your spine. Millions of people do. But if you stay in good shape, one way to make up for a joint is, and keeping joints moving is muscle. Muscle is so underrated. Get strong. And it makes a big difference with osteoarthritis. And I'm very big on vitamin D. I'm very big on vitamin K2, eating it in eggs, meat and cheese because you get vitamin K2 with vitamin D in food when you eat eggs, meat and cheese, dairy, okay? Lubricate, water, omega-3 very important for joints. And I like curcumin. I really like curcumin as an anti-inflammatory. Okay? I love Navitol as an anti-inflammatory and helps the joints. Okay? So that's me.
Jeannine, "I take the inflammation formula." You must be in the United States because we don't have it in Canada. Remember Health Canada, my cortisol just went up, okay, in Canada, what do you do to replace inflammation formula? Okay, because somebody asked me that the other day, why don't I answer it right now? Okay, take vitamin D and combine curcumin and Navitol, curcumin and Navitol. If you want to add in quercetin, tremendous anti-inflammatory too. Okay? And I love the high DHA, so you take those, they really work. Okay, so doctor says don't take vitamin D. You don't want vitamin D in your blood. What? No, no. You don't want calcium in your blood. Is that what he said? If your doctor said that? Well, your doctor's listening to The Doctor Is In podcast. It's not that you don't want vitamin D in your blood, you don't want calcium in your blood. Okay? So what helps calcium is vitamin D. What helps calcium to get into your bones and your teeth is K2. So you use it in combination together, okay? But you can eat your vitamin K2. Where's K2 found? Eggs. Where's K2 found? Meat. Where's K2 found? Dairy. Is it found in the plant kingdom? No, that's K1. Okay, now thanks for the question. You guys are so stinking smart. I can't get over it.
Okay, Syl. Hi Syl. "Why do my shins get chills?" I don't know. Why do your shins get chills? You're weird? Syl, I'm just teasing. Okay, remember my motto? I was told years ago on my radio show not to say the word weird anymore. You're insulting people, Dr. Martin. They're not weird. They're unique. So Syl, you're unique. Chills in the shins, thyroid maybe. B12, maybe. You're unique, maybe and maybe someone's got that and on our list, and if you do, like you're on the program and you hear Syl's question and you've had experience with that, well pipe up. Put it on a scroll somewhere. I don't know. I don't know everything.
Okay, Deborah, "what do I do for perioral dermatitis? So perioral dermatitis is inflammation, a rash on the skin around the mouth, and it's always leaky gut. Always, always, always start there. Start with the gut. Probiotics. Broad spectrum. I hate to toot our horns guys, but the best probiotic in the world as the one we make, there's not a better one. I've looked around. They're just not better than that. Someone told me the other day, Dr. Martin, I hate when you run out of probiotics because nothing else works. I know. Do you think I want to? I don't want to do it. But they're finicky, they're hard to make. Our manufacturer said to me one time, Dr. Martin, why don't you just do what everybody else does when you make probiotics. Those are easy. You make dairy or whatever, and they're easy to make. Why do you make it so difficult to get these soil based, the strains that you want in the quantities that you want? Why do you do that? You're making my life difficult. Because they work. I'm sorry, they work. You can take a blow torch to them and you won't kill those bacteria. They're on your side in the right combination, in the right and the right amount. That's why. Okay, Deborah, there you go.
Lise, "can cream trigger a migraine?" Well, you saw me get one, not from cream, but when I hear oh, stuff that gives me migraines. Yeah, cream could, if you have any kind of allergy or intolerance, a lot of people, they don't use the word allergy. They use the word intolerance. I have lactose intolerance. Well, that's an allergy, but it's not so much the dairy, it's you. Okay? Now they denature dairy. And when you get pure dairy like pure, you got a cow in the backyard. People don't have allergies to that. It's almost, you don't have intolerances to that. It's when man thinks they're smart and they denature things and then all of a sudden your body goes, what is that? That's not real dairy. You changed it so your body reacts to it. There's so much more lactose today than there used to be because they skimmed the milk, they pasteurize it at 1200 degrees and it denatures it. Your body goes, hello? What's that? What did you just eat or drink? And man, we think we're smarter than God. Anyway, it's the world in which we live. Unless you're planning on leaving the planet, it's the way it is. And like I said, you got a cow in the backyard. Hallelujah for you. Yes, cream Lise for you could trigger migraines.
And one more. That's it. Here we are. Lise. "My 17-year-old daughter is nauseous all the time." Okay, nausea, okay, horror-mones. And you know what the number one hormone is that's messing your daughter up Lise? It's called cortisol. It's pouring gasoline on the fire and she's nauseated. It's called cortisol generally. Sometimes they're lacking B vitamins too. Especially B12. I don't know. Is your daughter Lise eating enough red meat? And when you eat steak, for example, you get B6, you get B3, you get all your B vitamins, including B12. A lot of young ladies, they don't eat enough red meat. I had a lot of young ladies come to my office and you know what they'd say? Dr. Martin, I don't eat anything with eyeballs. They get duped. Young people got duped. It's so stupid not to eat meat or to become a vegetarian or vegan. Why would you do that to yourself? I know a lot to do, but why? It's not science, it's religion.
Okay, guys, Friday's what? Q and A. Okay, so get your questions in. Ken already asked the question. I saw it. I said, let's answer it today. Okay? No guys, we love that. We love that. Put your questions out. info@martinclinic. Go sign up for our new book. Please sign up for a book. You won't be disappointed. Rebuilding Your Temple, coming to a theater near you. Sign up for it.
