TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well good morning everyone. How are you? And once again, welcome to another live as you get your notifications here. And we certainly appreciate everyone that can come on live. We understand you can't always do that. The nice thing is that you can tune in to The Doctor Is In Podcast on your favorite device. We love you dearly. Thanks for coming on the program, guys. Okay, now, yesterday we talked about two things. One of them is inactivity. Inactivity kills as many Americans as smoking. Inactivity. So I talk about vitamin E all the time, exercise, move, any kind of movement's going to be good. And we emphasize because we know so much more than we used to. We emphasize strengthening muscles as much as you can. You can do cardio. I love walking. Go for a walk, move. Any movement is good. Your body will love you for it. The research is overwhelming. Inactivity kills as many Americans as smoking, one.

Two, we looked at a study that they did over years, 500, almost 600,000 people and if you have suboptimal levels of omega-3 DHA and EPA, you're in trouble. You're in trouble for cardio, brain health, inflammation. Look at cardio. Still the number one killer today. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer today. Okay? Behind it is cancer. We've already shown, okay, a study out of Europe that showed DHA is a tumor buster. It's a tumor buster. But generally when they look at DHA and they look at EPA, and remember there's a lot of cars on the road, okay? So think about it. You got Hondas, you got Toyotas, you got Chevrolets, you got Kias, you got Ford. They're all different cars on the road, right? And there's a lot of different omega-3s, but the top omega-3 is DHA. It's the top one.

And the research bears that out because first of all, you can't get DHA unless you're eating in the animal kingdom, okay? That's where DHA is found and your brain is made up of DHA. Someone calls you fat head. It's a compliment. When your brain shrinks, what happens? It shrinks. You need fat. And omega-3 is a healthy fat. You can get it in the plant kingdom, but you can't get DHA and EPA in the plant kingdom. You need that from the animal kingdom. It's just the way it is, guys. So if you know anyone that's a vegan or vegetarian, whatever, tell 'em to take at least take a DHA, high DHA supplement. They should be on it, no questions asked because they need it and they're not getting it in their diet. And that's why, guys, I emphasize the animal kingdom. That offends people. It offends people, but it's still true. Okay? The truth will set you free.

Okay, now we're going to look at vitamin D. Does that surprise you? Does that surprise you? Sun steak and steel. I started with the sun and the research, the meta analysis, looking at research on vitamin D, okay? So if you don't move, you're in trouble. It's worse than smoking. If you have low levels of DHA and EPA, that's worse than smoking. That's what they've said. And we all know smoking is bad. Now here's another one. Don't be low in vitamin D. Don't be low in vitamin D. Okay? The number two, cause of death. And when I talk about vitamin D, it's not only for cancer, but let's emphasize cancer to start off with, okay, let's emphasize cancer. Cancer, I'm sorry, we're not winning the war on cancer. There's more cancer today than there was when I first graduated in the 1970s. In Canada, I'll give you Canadian statistics, and they're the same in the States.

When I was in school, one out 20 women, let's put it North America, one out of 20 women in North America got breast cancer in the 1970s. You know what it is today? One out of 6, one out of 5 women guys we're not winning the war. We're losing the war. If you had an employee that was failing all the time, you'd fire them, wouldn't you? If they weren't doing their job, wouldn't you just say like, bye-bye now? Here we are today, we're in 2025 and we got more cancer than we ever did. Now there's several reasons for that, okay? There's several reasons for that. You and I live in a toxic soup and I don't care where you go, you're not getting away from it. If your address ends with planet earth, you're surrounded by toxins. It's just the way it is. And I am not so concerned about the climate. I'm more concerned about the environment. But since you're not going to change completely the environment, it's not going to happen. It's just the way it is.

And I am not saying that we don't try and clean it up. I am not saying that. All I know is that we're accumulating one and a half, each person on the planet is accumulating one and a half credit card worth of plastic on average is being accumulated in a person every week. It's everywhere. Microplastics are everywhere. We talk about that. Do I ever go a week without talking about that? Of course I don't because it's a huge factor. It's not something you can control. Well, Dr. Martin, I only drink out of a glass bottle. I know and good for you, and I want to good for you. I mean it. Do everything you can, but you're not getting away from it. You're not getting away from it, okay? But we're losing the war, guys. One of it is the environment.

The biggest factor in my opinion is people don't get in the sun. We're so different than we were a hundred years ago, indoors most of the time. For a lot of people, a lot of the population, they don't see the sun and they're scared, skinny of it. We've been made scared, skinny. It happened when I was a kid, sunscreens came out and they started with the mantra, sun causes cancer, sun causes skin cancer. And everybody started to lather up. I was like John the Baptist in the wilderness screaming against that stuff because here's what I remember from high school. Chemicals, add heat, add the bunsen burner to chemicals. What do you got? An explosion. And now we have an explosion of skin cancer, not because of sun, because of the lack of it. Melanoma is a lack of sun, it's a lack of sun and vitamin D, get my book, Sun, Steak and Steel, because I talk about the studies on vitamin D, but this is new.

I'm going to give you some new stuff that has come through meta-analysis studies recently and let me give you some of it, okay? Let me give you some of this. if you can get to, and guys, don't wait for your doctor to get on board on vitamin D. I just can't emphasize that enough because most physicians, not all physicians, of course, okay, you got a good doctor, good for you. But most doctors, they don't know anything about vitamin D. The only thing they know is it's toxic. They get the big warning when they're in medical school. Toxic, not benefits, toxic. They're already brainwashed about the dangers of the sun. Why is that? Well, dermatologists got their way. Dermatologists plus Johnson & Johnson got their way. What? Well, the sun, it's the boogeyman. They made it like cholesterol. It's the boogeyman. Cholesterol, heart disease. No, the sun, cancer, no, but the narrative is in medical school still in 2025 is what? Sun bad.

Vitamin D, what do I know about vitamin D? Toxic, here's doctors talking to me. It's fat soluble. Yeah, so you can get toxic. I asked my doctor friends this question. Have you ever seen a case of it? Oh, I know. I know why you're in the waiting room. I know why we had to admit you in the hospital. I know why you got too much vitamin D. Never. They've never seen a case of it. No one, nada, zero people have ever died of vitamin D overdose. No one, not one person. There's nothing in recorded medical books at all or statistics that people die. I know why you died. You had too much vitamin D in your body. Never. It hasn't happened. So look, I'm not telling you to bake in the sun. You go out in the sun for 20 minutes, okay? Go out in the sun today, like today would be a beautiful day if you lived in my hometown. The sun is out. I can't wait to get outside and get my vitamin D. If I can get it from the sun, it's the best place to get it. It's better than a supplement, but I can guarantee you won't be long where I live. You're not sun bathing. Okay? Here we are in September and we are getting a little bit of what we call an Indian summer here. Beautiful. Enjoy it.

But guys, vitamin D is essential for your health. The sun and if not the supplement. And back to my point, I was on a little rabbit trail, 25,000, okay? If you go for 20 minutes in the sun, expose your arms and legs, you're going to get 10,000 IUs. Ohhh, 10,000 IUs of vitamin D. Aren't you going to die in 20 minutes? Your body will take in 10,000 IUs of vitamin D. Go out in the sun for a day. Okay, let's say you're going to the beach and you spend a day, don't burn. You'll get 25,000 units easily of vitamin D, 25,000. And if you told a physician, almost any physician that you took 25,000 IUs of vitamin D, you would give them a heart attack right on the spot. You took 25,000 units of vitamin D? You're going to die. Okay, and just guys, because you know me, when I hear stupidity, I call it out. When I hear stupidity, I call it out.

And in Canada, there's a war on vitamin D. There really is. Health Canada hates vitamin D. Hate it because the doctors told them, and I know this for a fact, the doctors told them, you get toxic. Be very careful. Okay? And then number two, the pharmaceutical companies, they don't like vitamin D because they can't patent it. They can't make money from it. Oh, but left to their devices, they'll stop anybody from selling vitamin D. They said they'll do it with a doctor's prescription. Oh my word. I hope it never comes to that. I hope it never comes to that. Waiting for a doctor to give you a prescription for vitamin D. My word, disaster, and let me prove it to you. Now, I'm going to give you stats on vitamin D, okay? And I'm specifically talking about cancer today. Stats on vitamin D, status and cancer. Okay? Worldwide, what's the leading cause of death? Heart disease. What's the second one? Cancer. Okay, cancer.

When it comes to chronic diseases, okay, now let me give you some stats here. Okay? If you get your blood work, and guys, I'm telling you, please check your blood work on vitamin D at least once a year. If you can't get your physician to do it, pay for it. Monitor your dihydroxy vitamin D, it'll save your life. It's possible. People don't realize because nobody's told them, nobody's told them to measure vitamin D. You can get it measured. Doctors don't. You don't have osteoporosis. Why do you want to get your vitamin D levels checked? For my immune system, I want to measure it. Knowledge. Knowledge. My audience. You are knowledgeable. You want to take care of your own health. You can't take care of anybody else's except yours, right? Take care of yourself. Find out what your dihydroxy vitamin D levels are, okay? Because here's the stats, and it's crazy how important vitamin D is.

Listen, worldwide cancer, okay? Now if you get, listen, to 40 ng/mL, that's USA. You get to 40 or a hundred NMOL, that's Canadian, 40 American, a hundred Canadian. So all you have to do, it's easy. Okay? Whenever you see ng/mL and you want to know what the equation is, NMOL, Canadian, just multiply two and a half times. So 40 becomes a hundred. Got it? If you get to 40 or a hundred in Canada in your blood work on vitamin D, okay? Your cancer risk is gone down by 67%. You think that's important? Your cancer risk is gone down by 67%, if you can get to 40. That's not high. A hundred in Canada, I often say things that are a little bit crazy, that's enough for a mouse. But if you can get to 40, and a lot of people in the USA, I'll say this, the vast majority of people in the USA, they're not even at 40. They're at much higher risk of cancer. Same thing in Canada.

Okay, listen to this. They did a study on 25,000, almost 26,000 patients, supplementation of just 2000 IUs. Remember I talked about go into the sun for 20 minutes, you get 10,000 IUs. Go in the sun for the day, you get 25,000 IUs of vitamin D. But let's say you can't get into sun, okay? You're not going to go sunbathing in Canada in October, I promise. No, not going to happen. You might have nice days, but you're not sun, anyway. Okay? Now, if you do 2000 IUs, okay, so I got my bottle of vitamin D right here. See it, okay? 2000 IUs, okay? So you take the little dropper out and I put vitamin K in with our vitamin D. Okay? I dunno if you can see this, but I'm just going to put a drop, whoop, a little drop. That's 1000 IUs. Okay? Two drops, 2000 IUs, okay? Supplementing, they did 26,000 patients supplementing with just 2000 IUs.

I don't know what their blood work showed. This study didn't show that just showed supplementation with vitamin D, decreased cancer metastasis. You know what metastasis is, right? Cancer spreading, okay? 2000 IUs, they gave it to cancer patients. And the risk of that cancer spreading, just giving them 2000 IUs was decreased by 17%, 2000 IUs. And if cancer patients could maintain a healthy weight, take 2000 IUs of vitamin D, their risk of metastasis was down by 38%. Boy, that's interesting. Now ladies, this is for you and men, this is for you because at the Martin Clinic here, okay, The Doctor Is In Podcast. I say this all the time. Breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men are almost identical cancers. I'll tell you, this is me, okay? This is my opinion.

Oncologists, they love to get into weeds. Confused. You're estrogen receptive. You're not estrogen receptive. Your cells are not estrogen receptive. And men testosterone and this and that. It gives me a migraine, okay? Because breast cancer, prostate cancer, okay? They're almost identical cancers, of course, one in men and the other one in women. Now, even today, we have a small percentage of men that get breast cancer. I'm going to tell you why. I'm going to tell you why. Horror-mones means hormones. What are they? Too much estrogen. Ladies. Too much estrogen. And remember, always teeter-totter. Remember the teeter-totter? Estrogen makes you a woman. Progesterone is pro baby hormone. Progesterone, progestation. Okay? Always remember this. Estrogen, progesterone, in a woman has to be equal.

And the problem is, even in menopause, Dr. Martin, I used to have doctor call me. Dr. Martin, what are you teaching my patients? Well, I taught them, yeah, I know their estrogen is coming down, but their progesterone is not keeping up to that. And as estrogen's coming down, the progesterone sinks like the Titanic. And that my friend gives you estrogen dominance. If you're estrogen dominant, your risk of breast cancer goes up through the roof. Through the roof. Two, okay? Too much estrogen and too much insulin. What? Food. Insulin. It's a growth hormone. You mix it. Estrogen, insulin. Uh oh, and in breast cancer, I'm going to add the third one, cortisol. That's a hormone. It's your stress hormone. And now you've got a perfect storm. Estrogen dominance, cancer grows, grows, grows. Insulin. It grows, grows, grows. And cortisol.

So men, "ecoutez moi," that's French for listen up, listen, prostate, estrogen. What? I'm a man. I know, but we can become girly men. Why? Because we don't have enough testosterone. And when you don't have enough testosterone, your estrogen goes up in a man, and that's a growth hormone. Add insulin. That's a growth hormone. Add cortisol, adding fuel to the fire. Not good. Where does vitamin D come in on this? Okay, so listen to this. Okay? Listen to this. If you get, this is for women, Linda, listen, if you can get to 60 NGML, okay? Or Canadian numbers, 150 N-M-O-L-L, okay? Don't worry about the little things afterwards. Okay? I got my blood work back and I met 60 in the USA, I'm at 150 in Canada. You're in good territory there. Why? Listen to this. 82% decrease in your risk, ladies of breast cancer and men prostate cancer too. I've always equated the two.

If you can get to 60 in your vitamin D, and there's only one way to find out, you got to get your blood tested. And I talk about that in my book, Sun, Steak and Steel, why it's so important for dihydroxy numbers. You got to find that out guys. You got to pay for it, pay for it. I hate to tell you that, but you got to, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist. Find out those numbers. If you're at 60 or 150 in Canada, I would even get you higher. But I like 82% decrease in breast cancer. Do you think that's not significant? There's nothing that'll give you that kind of protection like that. Nothing. What else would I have to say about vitamin D? We've got lots. Maybe I got to do another session on this. Holy moly. This came from the Journal of Steroid Biochemistry in 2023. It's two years old. Did you hear about it in mainstream? Nah, you didn't.

Okay, love you guys. I mean it. We love you dearly and sincerely. Friday is what? Q and A, send your questions. Got any questions about what I talked about today? You got any questions? Send them in info@martinclinic.com. info@martinclinic.com. We'll put it on the Q and A for Friday and sometimes Monday because we never get to all of them, but we like that. I want to answer your questions, guys. I really do. I had a radio show for 20 years. You know what it was? It was open line. I gave about a 5 or 10 minute health tip topic of the day, and then we opened the lines for phone calls. I used to do once a month in Windsor. I did the Lynn Martin show an hour. I love that. Ask questions. No, seriously, we want you to ask questions, okay? We love you guys dearly and sincerely. Talk to you soon.
