Dr. Martin answers questions sent in by our listeners in today's episode.
TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE
Announcer: You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.
Dr. Martin: Well good morning everyone. Once again, welcome to another live this morning. Nice to have you on. We appreciate you guys coming. We'll wait on your notifications before I get started. I'm just making some notes. Okay, let's get our questions started this morning. First question. Okay, "my daughter is 14." This is Baron. How are you, Baron? "She has acne on her face." I can fix that. Acne is too much estrogen causing an increase in her testosterone and that gives a woman acne. Okay? It's a hormonal thing. "Can she use sunscreen?" I never recommend sunscreen. Okay. I really don't. I don't recommend it. I don't like it. I've been consistent about that. Sunscreen and they're really showing up. I mean, when you think of how many products they pulled off the market and for the FDA to do this, to be labeled carcinogenic, man, it's got to be bad. So they pulled a lot of products off the market. As far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't touch sunscreen with a 50 foot pole. That's me, okay?
But sun is actually good for acne. It's good for it. Sun's good for everything. But if you're concerned about sun, like wide brim hat, I'm not against that. Cover up clothing. Even with swimming, you can get clothes now you swim with. These like shirts and I'd rather kids cover up than lather up. You put lather on them with sunscreen and you add heat. I learned enough in chemistry that if you add heat to a chemical, oh boy, and that's right on your skin. You know what that means? Going in your bloodstream. Look, I know I'm in the minority. I don't care. I felt strongly about it years ago. I've written about it many, many times. I'm not big on sunscreen. Now, you get a natural sunscreen with zinc oxide. I like some coconut oil. If you want to put that on the skin, Revera, I use that, but I don't use it as a sun blocker. In my opinion it's better to cover up and get your sun. I can go in the sun easily for an hour without even covering up anymore, but that's me. Everybody's different. If you're light, very fair skin, you know yourself, be very careful.
Okay, Dave, "I was wondering if Dr. Martin could reflect on the use of seven milligram nicotine patches to regain the sense of smell for COVID?" Well, look, I can only tell you, Dave, what I've read about it. I had no experience. I shouldn't say no experience. I had people with nicotine patches on because they were trying to stop smoking. I read about stuff. People send me stuff. I read it. I got no problem reading it. I don't know if I buy everything on nicotine like now it cures everything. Ah, I'm not sure. I always said this. When only one doctor says it, I'm not convinced of it. Now, you can try it. You can try it. I got no problem with you trying it. I don't have enough experience with nicotine patches therapeutically for anything for me to be an expert on. I've read the stuff. I don't know. I am a little skeptical, but I never close my mind to stuff. Okay? I never do Dave, because I don't know everything.
I just like to give people my experience because I had a lot of it. And you name the product or the med. I saw tens of thousands of patients over the years more than that. But nicotine patches, no, I never heard much about that other than for what they were designed for, and that is for people to stop smoking, and I know nicotine. I don't have enough experience, Dave, to give you a better answer than what I just gave you. I don't have enough clinical experience for that or even patients that tried it. Of course, I've been out of practice now for how many years? Five, six? Yeah. Okay. And what I would do to regain the sense of smell, and maybe you've tried this already, Dave, I would actually have you on zinc. I'd have you on my, or someone that you know, multi nutrient used to be called blood boost because of zinc colonate that we use in there. I found that to be effective for people that lost the sense of smell or taste with a virus, including COVID.
Okay, Sherry. Sherry sent me a long question. Okay? Her sister was diagnosed with stage two invasive ductile carcinoma, breast cancer, and had a lumpectomy, and she's done a month of protocol plus she just completed 30 days of reset. Good for her. The protocol, Dr. Martin, is $500 a month, okay? The one I gave her, right? She was asking for the length of time she needed to do higher doses. It's a good question. When you have cancer like that, I wouldn't come down from that higher dose. I know that that's not inexpensive, but I'll tell you, compared to a lot of protocols. See, I'm big on building the immune system, building T cells, building natural killer cells, the vitamin D, that's not expensive. Probiotics should be on them anyways. I don't care who you are, but with cancer, for sure. Look, it's a good question. I don't know the answer. Here's what I recommend. I would stay on it for several months.
I had someone who reached out to me for that protocol and had a very aggressive cancer, and then they asked me the same question, how long should I stay on the aggressive dose? I said, well, if things are improving, which they were, I wouldn't change anything. If you can afford it, I would do it. So it's a good question. I have a lot of experience with that protocol, Sherry, and certainly with your sister, if she can, I would not change an iota of anything. That's me. I look at it more as an investment. Another friend she says, has wondered about lung cancer with her husband following the protocol. Well, again, it depends. I've had people who had cancer, like you're going back now with success. They just stayed on it. I guess they could have cut back, but they were getting success and they felt, well, I'm not cutting back. Anyway. It can certainly be modified, but I more suggesting that they stay on that protocol for several months. Sherry, okay, I hope I answered your question properly.
Billy, "my friend that was recently diagnosed with vitiligo." I get tongue tied sometimes with the silliest things, which is patches, big white patches on the skin, and I always saw vitiligo as an autoimmune condition, leaky gut. So I always start with that. Fungal, an invasion of the third army in the gut. I believe that's what it is. Leaky gut, leaky skin. That's what I would do. Broad spectrum probiotics, don't feed the bears. I would have them on oil of oregano. Don't, cut back on the sugar, do the reset. That's what I recommend. Okay?
Priscilla. "I think I'm doing okay with my HDL and triglycerides because my recent labs say my HDL is 2.14 and my triglycerides are 0.052." Excellent. "However, I looked up your podcast and you say 2.92, that's a long time ago. Fat helps you to elevate your good cholesterol so that you can take out the bad fats out of your body. Forever, I heard that LDL is your bad cholesterol." No, it's not. No, it's not. There is no bad cholesterol. Bad lipids is bad triglycerides and having low cholesterol. Why LDL? Cholesterol, low density lipoprotein. Why it became bad was because the pharmaceutical companies needed a bad guy. They needed a bandit, and they found one when they found a drug that lowers LDL. So now, LDL cholesterol go back to the mid eighties has been a bad guy. It wasn't a bad guy before that. Only since then.
And millions and millions of people have been put on statin drugs to lower LDL. And you know what? The result has been? Not good. The result is we got more heart disease than we ever have. Why? Because we're looking for love in all the wrong places. LDL cholesterol is not a bad guy. Again, new research is showing LDL cholesterol is actually very important for your immune system. So you want high LDL, you want high HDL, you want low triglycerides. I think you're doing wonderfully well according to your blood work, Priscilla. "Does that mean that my HGL is not keeping up with taking out the bad fat?" No, no. Don't worry about LDL. And you're eating fat in nature. Eggs, meat and cheese. It's good for you.
By the way, food only makes up a certain percentage of your makeup of cholesterol. God don't trust you. You've heard me say that. God doesn't trust you. What? Well, he doesn't trust you to make enough cholesterol from food. You won't do it so he doesn't trust you. You know what it means? It means your body makes up 85% of your cholesterol. It's not bad. Your body's smart. You make cholesterol, you need cholesterol. Everything's made up, every cell in your body needs cholesterol. It's a scam of all scams. It's craziness. And Priscilla, I'm glad you asked. I mean that because it allows me, we have new people on this program every day. Remember we got millions of downloads of this program. So of course I'm going to repeat, repeat.
Now, I'm not your doctor, but when it comes to my opinion, I'm very opinionated on cholesterol. But you must admit, I'm consistent. If statin drugs or was supposed to be the answer for heart disease, it's been a colossal failure. It would've been fired a long time ago. Yeah, it lowers your LDL cholesterol. Hey, I lowered my cholesterol. But it doesn't make you healthier. Not even once, it doesn't work, even though it lowers cholesterol, but it doesn't lower heart disease. Your brain is made up of cholesterol. Okay, thank you, Priscilla. I hope I answered your question.
Theresa, "does oil of oregano work on diverticulitis?" Yeah, look, oil of oregano is fantastic. Okay, now with diverticulitis, this is a serious condition. Okay? It comes from having diverticulosis. What's that? Well, those are little pouches in your intestine. And those pouches become a gathering center for garbage, feces that doesn't go out and impacted fiber. So yes, because bacteria will gather there and it's not escaping to get into the toilet. Yeah, oil of oregano would be part of my go-to. Here's what I did for and diverticulitis for years. One, eliminate fiber. Medicine tells you to take more fiber. Anybody that I've ever seen all these years that had diverticulosis, they were eating fiber like they were a rabbit. I said, stop it. Where does spinach get caught? In your teeth? I said, it's also caught in your bowel. Stop it. Fiber.
Two, water, flush, flush, flush. Number three, probiotics, repair. It helps good bacteria go after bad guys, replenish. Replace probiotics. Bone broth. Why L-glutamine? It patches up. It helps regenerate the lining of the gut. Okay? I had them on our gut ease. I had them on bone broth. I had them on digestive enzymes. Why? Dr. Martin, why digestive enzymes for something down the road? Diverticulosis in your bowel, said because it's very important that you break down your food properly in your stomach. Digestive enzymes, they are so important to break all the proteins down and break all your food down. It makes a big difference on the bowel. Oil and oregano. I love it. It's antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral. Okay, so that's what I did. And lay off the nuts and the seeds. You can have a few flax seeds because you ain't a chipmunk nor a squirrel. That's what I did with great, great results with diverticulosis and diverticulitis. Thanks, Teresa.
Nelly, "can you tell us why polyps form in the gallbladder?" Nah, I can't tell you. I can and I can't. Who knows? Sometimes polyps will form all over the place. Why did they form? Ah, Nelly. You fight. I fight. Everyone fights cancer every day. Cancer cells, you fight that every day. You have your immune system. T cells, natural killer cells. When you have polyps, just like you would've polyps in your bowel, a lot of people, they get a colonoscopy done. Oh, you had polyps. Well, that doesn't necessarily mean pre-cancer, but doctors want to take them out. They always think they're cancerous. Well, they may be, but generally they're benign. And it's the body. It encapsulates the cancer cells. Your body puts a shield there. You're fearfully and wonderfully made.
Why do they happen in the gallbladder? Well, they can happen anywhere. They can happen on the pancreas. I've seen that polyps can happen on any organ. I think it's your body's immune system and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Keep your immune system good. Your vitamin D, your probiotics, very important to do that. Get in the sun, your T cells, your natural killer cells are looking for their batteries to be recharged. There's nothing better than the sun to do that. Sometimes you'll get polyps just like you would get stones in the gallbladder because of underuse. But generally that's not the same thing. So Nellie, thanks for the question. Your immune system's working. That's what I want to tell you.
John. "A lot of people mentioned parasites in the organ." You know guys, I'll tell you, when you get on the internet, listen, I want you guys to go on the internet if you can. Study, read, doctors don't. That's their problem. It's like if you went to the mall today in your hometown and you saw some guy walking around with bell bottoms and long sideburns and he thinks he's Elvis. And Elvis has been dead since what? 1976 or 77, okay? Doctors don't read. They don't. They get taught in medical school then they come out, they don't know anything about nutrition. They don't know anything other than what they've learned. And they're a closed book. They shouldn't be. You guys study. I like that.
Now, here's the little asterisk I'm putting here. There's a lot of stuff on there too that look I've read. I've never seen anything like it. Things get hot. I used to say this, there's things that get their time in the sun. I don't know if you know what I mean by that, but I had a radio show for 20 years, and because of that, from all over Canada and United States, people would send me articles, they'd send me products. They wanted me to Dr. Martin. There's nothing better than this now. This is great. Promote it. What do you think of this? Every week, every week I got something new and there was something that would come and oh my word. It cures everything from warts on your nose to pimples on your toes. It fixed everything. I was skeptical when someone said it fixes everything except the oil of oregano because they always accuse me of that. No, but you know what I'm saying guys?
So when they tell you now, this is hot, parasites cause everything, parasites cause cancer. Maybe. Here's me, here's my experience. I'm more fungus, yeast, candida. That seems to me, and I've said this for 25, 35 years or more, leaky gut, the Trojan horse coming into the bloodstream in the form of yeast. I've always said that, and that has certainly a major impact on the cause of cancer. Parasites, maybe, maybe. Everybody has parasites though, you know that. Everybody does. I used to treat parasites, but if you get rid of fungus, you're getting rid of parasites too. So is it parasites? Is it yeast? I think it's yeast. I know parasites are hot today.
And guys, let me say this, okay? If parasites cause cancer, get rid of your pets. What? You heard me. If parasites cause cancer and you're really concerned about that, then you would never have a pet because pets have parasites and they get treated for them, but you don't get rid of all the parasites. Cats have parasites big time. They lick you. You get parasites. I'm sorry, you let your pet sleep on your bed. You getting parasites. So if parasites cause cancer, get rid of your pets. Now are you going to do that? Nah you won't do that, and I'm not even telling you to do it, but if you think you're getting rid of all your parasites and you got a pet, you've been lied to. Pets have parasites. It's a fact. Okay, look, that never made me popular, but I used to tell people that you're sleeping with the enemy. You're not supposed to sleep with your dog or your cat. You're not supposed to. Anyway, John, thanks for the question.
Laurie, "is possible for someone with Parkinson's to get better by taking DHA and eating EMC?" Well look, better, not cure. Better, yes, I have seen it. I am big on DHA and any neurodegenerative condition with Parkinson's. Here's what I found with Parkinson's. Okay? It's a better answer if I do it this way for you, Laurie. Okay? Because what did I find in practice when someone had Parkinson's? Pretty consistently, they had leaky gut a hundred percent. They had fungus up in the brain. Yeast carrying heavy metals, usually mercury. You got to get rid of that. They were low in vitamin D. They were low in B12. They were low in magnesium almost invariably. Okay, so you got to fix that. DHA, they were low in DHA big time. That's why I love it because your brain's made up of DHA. Okay? You got billions and billions of neurons in your brain. You have to regenerate that you can't do it without DHA. Okay? And I like EMC, eggs, meat and cheese. Best fuel. And to the extent they can regenerate, I would do it. Okay? Empty the liver. The liver is your detox. Okay, thank you very much, Laurie for the question.
Okay, still a couple of more. "Could you comment," Bobby, "on L leucine for sarcopenia?" Well, I like L leucine. You get L leucine when you eat eggs, meat, and cheese. So you never hear me talking about taking it as a supplement as much as eating it. You get L leucine, especially in the animal kingdom. So eat it. Secondly, L leucine, if you wonder specifically, what it's really good for is regeneration of muscles. That's why I want you to eat eggs, meat, and cheese. As a supplement, bodybuilders often use it just to regenerate muscle. Now, muscles have a lot to do with sarcopenia. Obviously it's a lack of muscle. So am I against that? No, you want to use it as a supplement for sarcopenia, but it helpful. But there's no shortcuts with sarcopenia. You can't just do it with food, although it's part of the package. You've got to get into getting stronger to build muscle. Like even grip strength. I mean, you can do this and it helps. I'm telling you, it's amazing. Okay? So I'm not against, you want to use L leucine, you get it in bone broth too, okay? But I'm bigger on eating it.
Okay, and let me just, maybe we'll make this one the final. How many do I have here? I still got a fair amount to go over. Okay, so Deborah, "I was wondering if there'd be any benefit for me to go on to a pharmaceutical thyroid Synthroid, but by keeping the Dr. Martin thyroid supplement along with it?" A lot of people do that, Deb. A lot of people do it. A lot of people have asked me about it when I was in my clinic days. I'm going to support your thyroid even though you are on Synthroid. Why? Well, because you still got all the symptoms of a sluggish thyroid. Hair, eyebrows, skin, sluggish metabolism, weight gain. So let's put you on the supplement. So you're asking me the other way around. Well, you're on the supplement and you still have some symptoms from what I see. You could talk to your doctor about it. What is your TSH? Not that I just rely on that because I'm much bigger on symptoms than blood work. But yeah, I'm not against it. It depends on your symptoms more, Deb. Okay, thank you very much.
Barbara. "I'm wondering about using a TENS machine for diabetics." Well, tens is subcutaneous. You could try it for nerve pain. Do you have neuropathy? Here's what I did with diabetic neuropathy or neuropathy. I found for me the best was Navitol because it elevates nitric oxide and B12, I combine the two. The sublingual B12, 4,000 micrograms a day, sometimes 8,000 micrograms a day with Navitol, two capsules, sometimes four capsules a day. And I got great results with neuropathy. But you want to try a tens? I got no problem with that at all. I had tens machines in my office. Had a lot of patients that used to use them. Some with great results, some with less. It wasn't anything magic, but some people really liked them.
