TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well good morning everyone. Hope you're having a wonderful day and a good start to it and you've had your vitamin C, your coffee, and good to have you on with us this morning. We appreciate it big time. Thank you for coming on. We love you dearly. You're like family to me. I appreciate it big time and we want to thank you for just being so faithful to the Doctor Is In podcast and Facebook Live, those of you who can come on with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Okay, we're going to do this again because a lot of people were giving me feedback on fructose and high fructose corn syrup. So there's a few other studies that I wanted to mention, but we'll do that.

I want to break it down and do a little bit of teaching again on. You see guys, you have to understand this is new, okay? High fructose corn syrup hasn't been around forever, okay? And it's created a whole cascade of problems, one of them being diabesity, and there's a reason for it. And anyway, we'll get into some more detail. I was reading an article yesterday on choline, choline, the amino acid choline, how important it is for your brain, how important it is for your heart, okay? Brain and heart. Your brain and your heart, okay, two organs that got a lot of mitochondria and mitochondria, as you guys know, go back to high school where you learn about the cell and the mitochondria, the battery packs. Well, you got at least 2000 in your brain. You got 2000 mitochondrias, battery packs in every brain cell. That is so key.

Again, remember the summer of 2022. Remember that summer? Earth shattering groundbreaking studies that should have, could have, but didn't turn mental health upside down because after all the years of looking at depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, looking at Alzheimer's, they looked at all the studies the summer of 2022, and we reported on this, on the doctors in. We talked about it, talked about it, talked about it because it was so earth shattering. It wasn't shocking to me, but it should have shocked the world because what they said was, well, Alzheimer's, for example, it's not plaque. It's not what we thought. And depression and bipolar, they're energy issues. It didn't start with the chemistry in the brain. And by the way, you got more serotonin in your gut than you have in your brain.

So all the meds that we're focusing in on Alzheimer's, all the meds on depression, anxiety, the benzoids and the SSRI medication, they're saying, well, it's not getting at the root problem. And we brought that to you. We talked about it quite a bit. That doesn't mean you throw out all the medication, but you could for Alzheimer's because it didn't even make a dent. As a matter of fact, Alzheimer's is worse. And what we've said on this program and what they're really confirming now, it is an energy problem. When you talk about energy, you have to talk mitochondria. Mitochondria are your battery packs within the cell and in your brain cell, you've got 2000 mitochondria battery packs in every brain cell. Your heart is very similar to that. Lots of mitochondria.

Okay, so what does that mean? What's that mean? What's that mean to you? What's that mean to me? What's that mean to the world? Well, battery packs, mitochondria, they only operate with food. Food is the fuel that drives your mitochondria. That's how you charge your battery packs. It's food. And what we're learning, the more and more and more they study it, the more they realize that your battery packs, especially in the brain, are swimming in the wrong fuel glucose. And I use that illustration. You're swimming in the Atlantic, but you can't drink the water. And that's what's happening. We have an overabundance of the wrong fuel.

Now, guys, you have to admit it. I've been talking about fuel for a long time. I've been talking about changing fuel for a long time. I did it in my practice for years and years and years telling people change fuel because we've been lied to. We were told the best fuel is glucose. It's not. The best fuel is ketones. And I don't like the keto diet. Okay? I don't like that because to me it's not the best fuel. I know what they're saying. They're just saying low carb. Okay, low carb, okay, I know what you're saying. I don't like this whole thing of keto because again, when the world gets ahold of it, they usually corrupt it. And to me, it's so simplistic. The best food in the world is an egg. Well, steak ahead of it. But eggs, meat and dairy. Good dairy, there's bad dairy. There's bad dairy. There's no bad meats by the way. You know me, I talk about that all the time.

Every meat that you can think of is better than a granola bar. And it's better than any vegetable that you can name, any vegetable, including broccoli, and I like broccoli, but I'm just telling you on the nutritional profile, it's not close. And I know people are asking, what about nitrates? What about this? Don't get in the weeds. Okay, you want to get in the weeds, okay, go in the weeds. But generally, when it comes to energy, when it comes to your mitochondria, what is the fuel the mitochondria produce? ATP and when you eat the right foods, your mitochondria are giving you high fives. Your brain, your heart. And because we got lied to, right? Summer of 2022, it blew my socks off, cause they finally admitted it. They finally looked at all the research. They looked at all the research on Alzheimer's. They looked at all the research on depression. They looked at all of it.

And this is the best type of research is when you look at all the studies and then you come up with some conclusions. And I really liked that. And with no big pharma behind the studies or whatever, it was just, let's look at all the studies. Let's look and see if it's plaque for Alzheimer's. And they said, nope, it's not that. Dementia, nope, it's not plaque. Plaque might be there, but it's not the cause of it. We looked at all the studies, we looked at all the medication they've been giving, didn't work, never was going to work and they still use it. Here we are in 2025, 3 years down the road, they still do it. Nothing much has changed. Big pharma is still pounds out their drugs. And in the same summer, they looked at bipolar, looked at all the studies, said we haven't been doing well, we haven't even made a dent it's worse than ever. Schizophrenia, depression.

We got all these medications on the market, but it's looking for love in all the wrong places. They weren't looking for energy. And this is what they said, energy is a big thing in the brain. Well, sure it is. And I'm not saying throw away all the SSRIs or whatever, but really the research was sort of saying that like we are not getting the bang for the buck. It's not working. Why are we seeing so much more depression today? Why are we seeing so much more bipolar today? Could it be the wrong fuel? One of the Cs. Okay, I'm a big guy on five Cs. And when I wrote the book Sun Steak and Steel, I meant it because some people they do you really mean that doc? That steak is the best food? Yeah, I mean it. It's the best. Numero uno, right? And I know liver, you don't have to tell me liver's, liver's fantastic. I just don't like it. Okay? I am sorry. I don't like it. So I don't talk about liver, but liver, you can lump in with steak, but you can't lump chicken in with steak. Okay? For all you chicken lovers, chicken and salad, I know you love it. Chicken's good, by the way. It is, but it don't have a lot of choline in it. It has some. Egg, has more choline than chicken.

Now, why do I love choline? Because every cell in your brain needs it. Imagine it being a person, okay? Just imagine for a minute. And you guys know them and so do I. They're vegetarians, they're vegans. What a big mistake that is. It's a huge mistake for the brain. Just science, energy. You need choline. Choline is not found in the plant kingdom. It's not there. It's in an egg. I love choline because it's so good for you. It's so good for that, those mitochondria, they love choline. And even your heart, your heart loves choline. So I asked the question, how can red meat be bad for you when it's got choline and amino acid that your battery packs are going goody goody gumdrops. You've gave me something to give me high energy to really supercharge my battery packs, says the mitochondria.

Guys, this is basics, but it's so important to go over it and those important Cs, okay? One of them is coQ10, coQ10. CoQ10's got a lot of ink. Guys, I've been around a long time. If you talked about coQ10, 25 years ago, nobody knew what coQ10 was. I mean, nobody talked about it. And it wasn't until statin drugs, which had been out since the eighties really started questioning the use of statin drugs. And one of the pathways in the body that gets damaged by statin drugs is the production of coQ10. And the geniuses out there finally agreed with something I was saying on my radio show in that forever. Look, if you're taking a statin drug, you're in trouble. That's what I used to tell people. I said, I know you're taking a statin drug for your heart, the most popular medication of all time. I pushed back because I said, well go back 25 years. I said, well just know something. When you take a statin drug, you're going to be low in coQ10.

They didn't even know what I was talking about. I said, well, coQ10's important. You know why? Because it's important for your mitochondria, your battery pack. And where do you got a lot of battery packs? I used to ask this question. Where do you have a lot of mitochondria? And people would phone in on the radio show heart and brain. Guys, whenever you think of your heart, think of your brain. Whenever you think of your brain, think of your heart. Just because the makeup of the mitochondria, you need so much energy for the brain. It's headquarters, your heart, it's a pump. It pumps a hundred thousand times a day. You don't think about it. Pump, pump, pump, pump. Blood goes out, blood comes in, blood goes out, blood comes in. Blood pressure, heart, guys. And it's only when this don't work, you're in deep doo doo.

But what fires these things? What fires that? The muscle doc. Yeah and what's inside the muscle? Battery pack. Mitochondria. Guys, you need coQ10, you need choline, you need coQ10. Your body makes it. But the body like cholesterol is expecting you to do your part because as you get older, especially your coQ10 levels go down, your battery packs don't work as well. Well, you better replace the coQ10. So they give you a medication. Imagine somebody should have gone to jail over this. They give you a medication to help your heart. They say they want to lower your cholesterol. And I'll tell you, this is me. You know who should go to jail? Our cardiologists that talk to you about a statin drug and then don't talk to you about coQ10. Your pharmacist, where they pick up a prescription for Crestor or Lipitor or Zocor, and they don't talk to you about coQ10, it's a crime. They know it. Research has been out there for a long time that it's not even a question. If you are on a statin drugs, your coQ10 levels are tanking. You coQ10 tanking, your mitochondria are tanking.

And what's the connection between statin drugs, cholesterol lowering medication, and your heart? I always thought the heart was a muscle. And when you don't have enough coQ10, your muscles get damaged because they need a lot of battery packs to work properly. And by the way, so does your brain. That's the connection. Heart and brain, the connection between memory loss and muscle loss. What happens? One of the biggest side effects of statin drugs is muscle loss and rhabdomyolysis, which is muscle damage. Well established guys, and the brain and memory loss. What's the connection? CoQ10 battery packs. Guys, I've been screaming this for so long. If I could lose my voice, I guess I would've lost it by now. I had a guy tell me on Sunday, doc, whenever you talk, I don't even need my hearing aids.

Guys anyway, I get passionate about it. You need choline. Your brain needs choline, your heart needs choline. How do you get choline? When you eat meat and when you eat an egg and when you have dairy, when you have butter, put butter on your steak. Cook in butter. Butter, butter, butter, cream, cheese. Who doesn't like cheese? Yeah, coQ10. I could give you a few more. L carnitine, which is really important for you. Carnitine, by the way, is one of the best natural fat burners that you can consume. Carnitine. Where do you get it? In the animal kingdom, especially in steak, carnitine. It's a fat burner. And guys, you know me. I don't play games and talk to you about magic. There's no magic, okay? There are no magic to your health. We all know one of the biggest things is food. And you got to make the right choices. And every day you're going to make choices when it comes to food.

A hundred years ago, they weren't sitting around like people are today and worried about choices. We got so many. Just go to the grocery store and I remember a friend of mine when we were in high school together, he told me this story of his parents coming from Poland, communist Poland at the time and they came to Canada. They immigrated to Canada. And they thought because there was so much propaganda in communist Russia and Poland and the Eastern bloc in those days, when they came to Canada and they went into the grocery store, they thought it was fake. They said, well, they're just doing this. We got here and they want to show us how good Canada is and the United States is. And they thought the grocery stores were fake. It was just propaganda. But guys, think about it. Like in my lifetime, of course, grocery stores and you go down the middle aisles of the grocery store, we got so much food, we got too much fuel.

Anyway, coQ10, battery packs. Choline, battery packs. Carnizine, carnitine, battery packs, anti-aging, energy, guys. There seems to be a real turning of the corner when it comes to looking at fuel and looking at the mitochondria and I really appreciate it. I've been talking about it for so long. Change fuels, change fuels. Don't wait til the world out there tells you to do that. Don't wait for that. And guys, I know my audience gets it, but we have new people come on this show every day. And I want to tell 'em we might be in the minority, but we're right. And I doubled down, triple down, quadruple down. I've been saying it for 50 years. I watched the food industry hijack our health. I watched the pharmaceutical industry and God loved them, they do some wonderful things, hijack research and try and bury. And then they get guys like me on the radio and they go, that's fake news. He's a quack. He's a nutcase. Yeah, I'm nuts, but I'm right.

Okay. Oh, I didn't even tell you about creatine. Boy you should see the research coming out on creatine, okay? And how good it is for you. And it's found in meat. You don't even have to supplement. That's why I don't talk to you about supplementing for that when you can eat it. Have a steak. A steak a day, keeps the doctor away. And hamburger too. You can't get enough of it, guys. Okay guys, we love you dearly. Friday is Q and A, Q and A Fridays, which is always powerful, always fun. We can barely hold our excitement back for your questions and I mean it. Okay, love you. Talk to you soon.
