Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone, and once again, welcome to another live this morning and hope you're having a wonderful start to your day. We certainly are, and hope you've had your vitamin C. Okay, let's get going guys. You know what I want to do today? I want to talk about your liver, okay? And don't get a lot of respect. It doesn't get a lot of respect, but the reason I want to talk about it is because something that's so prevalent today, I got my old atlas. You guys know this. I still have it and I love it, and I'm just going to show you this whole page here on my atlas, okay? Man, I did a lot of studying from this thing and I still do. I love it. Okay, what are we looking at? All these are pictures of the liver, okay?

Now over in this corner, okay? This atlas shows cirrhosis of the liver, okay? So right here, cirrhosis of the liver. You know what it doesn't have on this page? Fatty liver. And I tell you guys this a lot because fatty liver is a new condition when the Bible says there's nothing new under the sun. Solomon said that in Ecclesiastes, well, there is something new under the sun and that's called fatty liver. And I want to talk about that this morning because I saw a new study on how prevalent fatty liver is. So I thought, let's do a little teaching this morning on an organ that the world doesn't spend a lot of time on unless it gets damaged. Most people never think of their liver. They think of their heart, they think of their brain. They often think of their gut, but they don't think about their liver and they should.

And we got a big problem. Houston, a big problem in our society today, overloaded, liver overloaded. I don't know if I shouldn't even start a new name. Fructose overload. Fatty liver, like fatty liver don't come out of nowhere, okay? Fatty liver doesn't come out of nowhere. Fatty liver is an epidemic today. I don't use that word lightly. I mean it guys. It's an epidemic today. And the study that I just was mentioning was talking about how young it starts. I actually started seeing in my late years of practice, fatty liver in children in my office. I would've never ever guessed, well, I'll bring you back to the seventies as old as that atlas is. They don't even mention fatty liver. It's not in my medical textbooks, okay? You can read through them. Fatty liver is not even in there. Cirrhosis is okay. Cirrhosis, we studied cirrhosis of the liver, but I tell you, I never studied fatty liver non-existent. And today we have fructose fatty liver. The number one reason you get fatty liver is when you're drinking fructose. Okay? And that's a big problem today. That's a big problem today, okay? When you have fatty liver, when children have fatty liver, when I say you, my general audience out there, if you've been diagnosed with fatty liver, there's a lot of things that happen that make it very dangerous. Fatty liver is very dangerous.

Number one reason, fructose, and I've been telling you guys that God meant you to eat fruit, never to drink it. Don't drink it. I don't care if it's Tropicana, don't drink fructose. You're meant to eat it. Don't drink it. Drinking fructose soda in Canada, we often call it pop soda. Go to the malls, you'll see these drinks. Go to your coffee shops, Starbucks and the like. You get these drinks, they add sugar to them. A multitude of sugar that is driving fatty liver today. It's an epidemic. The consequences are okay. You see the problem with your liver is when this happens, when you get fat in the liver, okay, what am I showing here? Five pounds of fat, a foot long and almost six inches thick. Okay, that's five pounds. So when someone tells you, I only lost five pounds. Oh, if you lost five pounds of fat, you did a good thing.

And when you get on the reset, you know what's happening. You're getting rid of the fat in your liver. But let's talk about fat in the liver for a minute. Fatty liver. What happens when you have fatty liver? A lot of bad things. Let me explain one. When you have fatty liver, your cells become resistant to insulin. What happens in the liver doesn't stay in the liver. It's not Las Vegas when it gets full of fat. The Costco parking lot, I've said that for years, go by Costco and the parking lot is usually always full. Okay? So when I go by Costco, I think about your liver. Isn't that silly? But that's the way my brain operates. I see all those cars and I go, those are fat cells in the liver. Instead of thinking those are cars in the parking lot, okay? So when you drink, especially when you drink fructose, it affects your pancreas.

It affects your cells at the cellular level, your cells become resistant to insulin. You and I know that's a major problem in our bodies. Insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, okay? These fat cells in the liver get filled up. Fat cells get filled up in the liver, especially when you're drinking high fructose corn syrup, fructose. You know what happens? This is very dangerous because triglycerides have got nowhere to go. They've got nowhere to go. They stay in circulation and you can do a blood test in a way for this. It's usually an indicator that you're starting fatty liver or it's already there is your triglycerides are high and your HDL is low. You don't want high triglycerides. You're always going to have some triglycerides in your blood, but your HDL cholesterol when it's high is going into the bloodstream and taking those triglycerides and saying, come here, follow me.

Get in the back of the wagon here, and I'm bringing you back to the liver for processing. But what if your liver is full of fat? What if the liver is full of fat? Triglycerides have got no place to go. That's a big problem. Triglycerides three triglycerides fat balls left unattended in your bloodstream is a major issue in heart disease. Not cholesterol. Triglycerides as a matter of fact, low cholesterol, just the opposite of what they've been telling you, but you got to take a step back. You got to go to the liver. Insulin resistance. Triglycerides have got nowhere to go. There's no room in the liver for them to be processed. This stuff in your liver creates a very slow metabolism. You can't burn fat properly.

Nothing will ever fill your liver faster than drinking fructose. I go to Starbucks to get a coffee. I get a migraine in Starbucks because I watch all these young people and older people too, but mostly young ordering these sugary drinks and I feel like screaming like John the Baptist, get out of here. What are you doing? So that's important, isn't it? What happens there in the liver? Here's another big problem because of this in the liver, okay, think of this inside your liver. Another big problem is it drives urate uric acid. Part of the metabolism of uric acid. Fructose drives uric acid and your body wants to get rid of it, but not if you have fatty liver. Now you can't get rid of uric acid. This is why I've put a biomarker. I've added a biomarker of uric acid, elevated uric acid or elevated urate. I put that in metabolic syndrome.

Fatty liver driven mostly by fructose and especially drinking fructose. Guys, we never saw fatty liver before 1980. When did they invent high fructose corn syrup? People think of high fructose corn syrup. They think of sugar. Yes, it's a fructose, but it is a liquid fructose. It's the worst thing man invented that sugar man invented high fructose corn syrup. It's made in a lab. It's deadly guys. It's deadly. And they couch it in North America, they couch it. They don't even tell you they're using high fructose corn syrup, any sugar. They can put a name to it. But high fructose corn syrup is the one that they choose. Why? Because it's cheap. And you know me, I call it the antichrist of sugars, okay? So it drives fatty liver, it elevates your triglycerides heart disease lowers your good cholesterol, it increases your uric acid all in the liver.

It lowers nitric oxide. This stuff in the liver lowers your ability to produce nitric oxide. Again, that's very hard on your heart, especially why nitric oxide opens up your blood vessel. Guys, this is why tens of thousands of people, okay? Now remember I had a very limited audience in my office, right? I can only see one patient at a time. Now I saw thousands and thousands of patients over the years, but I was limited, but through my radio show, well then my audience really increased. Okay? And now with podcasting, really massive audience. So I've been preaching this message of what the reset does, what it does in the liver. It starts to empty the liver and get rid of fatty liver. It can start within six days. Remember this song, you got to be my age, six days on the road and I'm going to make it home tonight.

Okay? Six days, it starts to empty the liver of that fat. What does that do? Why is that so good for you? Well, we're talked about it. How many people when their liver reduces its fat, their triglycerides come down, their HDL goes up, their nitric oxide elevates. You know how good that is for your blood pressure? Do you know how many tens of thousands of people have found when they do the reset, their blood pressure gets better? How does that happen? Well, a couple of ways. One with kidneys, sugar not salt. Sugar is so damaging to the kidneys. It makes the kidneys hold on to fluid, thus blood pressure goes up, okay? Kidneys comes back to sugar. And the worst thing for your kidneys is high fructose corn syrup. Let me tell you that. Okay?

And blood pressure in the liver has an effect on it. What happens in the liver doesn't stay in the liver because what happens is that when you have fatty liver, blood pressure is affected because you have a decrease in nitric oxide. Your ability in the little smooth muscle to open up is diminished. And here's another one. Uric acid will elevate your blood pressure. All of that is happening. Kidneys and liver. Do you think the diet is important? And they blame all of that on cholesterol. You know how many millions of people are on blood pressure medication and they never get to the root reason why They just, I don't tell people not to take blood pressure medication, but I do tell people, anyone that will listen, change your diet. You've been lied to.

I love aiming at this organ, that liver aim. I aim there. The reset, one of the biggest benefits is emptying that liver. Now your liver has room for triglycerides. Now your liver can process those triglycerides. High fructose corn syrup, another factor. Now this is everywhere. You get 10 times the damage of glycation A GE, small S advanced glycation end products. What is that? Well, the best thing to think of, it's easy to remember if you remember what A1C is, what is A1C? Dr. Martin A1C is a measurement and average over three to four months. The life of a red blood cell, you can measure the glycation sugar hitches, its wagon to your hemoglobin in the middle of your red blood cell. It damages it. You can measure it. Why do you think I love A1C so much? It really does give you a good indication if your A1C is high, you're getting glycation damage of your red blood cells that tells you about what's happening to your insulin.

But it's also telling you, hello, your liver is filling up with fat. Your liver is filling up with fat. Now you and I know this when your liver is filled up with fat, okay? You are not detoxing. Remember we always talk about this, your liver is a detox organ. Your liver works when you're sleeping, your brain works too. You have a self-cleaning oven. But when you shut down at night and now it's detoxing all day long, but especially when you sleep, when you got fatty liver, you got trouble producing glutathione. What's glutathione? Well, it's an amino acid. Your body makes it in the absence of fatty liver, you got fatty liver, you got trouble making glutathione. Glutathione is like Velcro in your bloodstream when it sees, for example, heavy metals, mercury, lead, cadmium. Big problem in our society today. I used to measure for that stuff what?

I said, well, I was going to call you lead foot and they'd look at me. What? I don't drive that fast. Nah, nah, you got lead though. It's in your body. I did a urine test. You got lead. What You got Mercury. What You got cadmium? What? Yeah. And the biggest reason because we're surrounded by this stuff, guys, is the people that accumulate heavy metals usually have fatty liver. They usually have leaky gut too. Oh, by the way, your liver and your gut are big time connected. Everything guys flows through the liver. Your blood flows through the liver before it goes back to your heart. And glutathione will stick to those heavy metals and take the mud of your body. They'll stick to candida. You need glutathione, but you need an empty liver for glutathione to work properly. You got to get rid of the fat in your liver and your fat in your liver when you cut out.

I tell you, I had thousands of people thank me in my radio show days, Dr. Martin, I cut out drinking anything with sugar in it. What a difference that made you bet your boots. And this is why you really want to get rid of that fat in your liver. What a problem we have today driven by high fructose corn syrup. So can you eat fruit? Yep. What do I say about fruit all the time? It's God's candies. Enjoy. But don't live on it. You can't live on fruit. Well, you won't die right away, but you're not meant to live on fruit. Is fruit good? I love fruit. Does an apple a day keep the doctor away? No steak does. Steak keeps the doctor away. Not an apple. Apples are good. Steak is better. Steak is better for your liver. Even a fatty steak better for your liver than fruit is, but you can have some fruit.

Okay, guys, people accuse me of being a carnivore. I'm not a carnivore, I'm not. Now you can be a carnivore, but I'm not a carnivore. I'm a nutri bore, and that's why I always tell you, put steak on top of the food chain because it's the best food you, ah, liver is higher than that. But I don't like liver, so I don't talk about it. I talk about your liver. I don't talk about eating liver, although you could. It's very good for you, okay? It's very good for you. I just don't talk about it much. You guys know me right? You guys know me. Anywho, it's really important, guys, when you think of what happens in fatty liver and in your liver, guys, when that liver starts to pack up, your metabolism will slow, slow, slow to a crawl. This is why, guys, I love blood tests. When you look at blood work properly, I tell people all the time, could they doc my cholesterol? What about it? Well, my doctor said it's high. Good. Now give me your triglycerides. What are your triglycerides? That tells me a lot more. I want your cholesterol to be high because it's fake news that cholesterol causes heart disease. Well, in a way it does if it's low. Because if you have low HDL cholesterol and you got high triglycerides, you're in trouble. Your liver is in trouble, your heart's in trouble, your brain's in trouble. They're connected.

Okay, I promise I'm going to settle down and breathe. Tomorrow is what? Q and a Q and A. Send your questions in info@martinclinic.com. info@martinclinic.com. Send your questions in. They come to me, then we answer questions. We always have fun, right? Okay. Okay. Share this guys with your friends. See, they don't know anything about their liver, most of them, and they should. Okay, we'll talk to you soon.
