TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone. How are you? And once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a great and wonderful start to your week. We sure appreciate you guys coming on. Okay, let's get to our questions here. I'm not quite sure where I left off the other day, so if I've answered this already, then let me know. Okay, Danny, how do you get rid of Jock Itch? Okay, well that's fungus. Moisture an area. Think of it like Candida. Fungus is a first cousin of mold. Where do you get mold? We had water in our basement and then we got mold, a shower, a bathroom. Anywhere where there's moisture, you got a chance to have mold. Well, same thing with it's cousin. Whenever you see a fungal, and that's what jock is, it's fungus, it's a yeast, it's a fungus. You got mold. Well, not really, but you have moisture, and so you want to keep that area as dry as you can. Not always easy in men. I used to get them to make up an antifungal cream with little paste with oil of oregano, coconut oil. Coconut oil is very antifungal. Oil of oregano, very antifungal. Those are what I recommend. Danny, Kathy, or Cat, are you sure?

I love that. Are you sure? Kathy says that bone broth is good for you since I love it. You guys are thinking all the time since this is the place that heavy metals are stored in the bones. So if you have bones of chicken or whatever and you make bone broth, well, I love it. I love it. It's good. I'm glad you're thinking. Kathy. Yes, bone broth is good for you. Okay, bone broth is very good for you. You know that I push that all the time because it helps regenerate the gut. It's got a lot of L glutamine. It's got all your collagen, the best collagen protein, the best for your skin and hair and nails, and that is bone. It's the best collagen. Okay? I love when you're asking that question. Well, our bone broth is tested to make sure there are no heavy metals in it.

Okay? So I really like it. But if you go to the store and you get bones, beef or chicken bones and make a bone broth, don't worry about that. Don't worry about the heavy metals. Okay? I am sure, Kathy, that bone broth is good for you. Okay? Just a reminder, you're never going to get perfection in this world. You're not going to get it, okay? You do everything you can, but I always say from plastics to whatever, you're just never going to completely get away with it. So what do you do? You put your body into a lean, mean fighting machine. Get your immune system, keep your liver clean, your liver will do the job. Probiotics, they will knit up, so there's nothing getting into your bloodstream. Okay? Thanks for the question. I appreciate it. Big time. Okay, let's see here. Let's keep going. Lindy, what specifically improves mucosal membrane's health, bone broth, intestinal inflammation?

It's a good question. So many people have irritation in their gut. Okay, so bone broth regenerates very high in L-Glutamine is the amino acid that regenerates the lining of the gut. Probiotics, very anti-inflammatory, anti antifungal, anti anything that irritates the gut. Very, very anti-inflammatory. Vitamin D in the gut is very anti-inflammatory, and I am big on high DHA oil. Very, very good for inflammation everywhere from your brain to your toes. High, d, HA, is there anything better? No, not in my opinion. Okay, that high, high, high. Anti-inflammatory, high DHA. Okay, and bone broth. Absolutely. Absolutely very regenerative. Okay, we have a formula that is got a lot of mus with marshmallow root and other mus that we like using andies. Very good for you.

Do all of the above. If you've got a bad, if you've got what we used to call in the office, you got a sunburn in your gut, like really bad, irritated. We used to do all of the above and I used to see that a lot in the office. My word, we saw a lot of that. Okay? Laura says, in the past, I had loose stools when taking magnesium. Okay, is magnesium important? Well, it's very important and most people are low in magnesium and enough of it. Now, if you had a loose stool 99% of the time, it's because you are taking the magnesium citrate. What is the best absorbable magnesium citrate. Okay. Now, a lot of people, if they have any issue with magnesium, giving them a loose stool, we flip them to magnesium, bi, bi, whatever you want to call E, because usually they didn't have any issues with their gut after that.

But you ask the question, is magnesium important? Yeah, magnesium is really important and the vast majority of people don't get enough. It's not in the soil anymore. Okay, so how would you get it? Well, I've been talking about magnesium as a supplement for, I don't know, 50 years. 50 years. You can rub it on your skin. There's other ways to get magnesium. Epsom salt baths. For those people that can't get enough magnesium from a supplement, you won't get quite as much from an Epsom salt bath, but you'll still get some and it's good for you. Okay? So those are other ways, Laura, that you can do G. Oi, how are you G? Oi, nice to have you on with us. Can you get too much vitamin D? And can it give you kidney stones? Yes. And yes, you could get too much vitamin D, but I never see it.

It is so rare and I mean it. I've talked Giovanni on this program for many years, and then on my radio show for 25 years ago when I started radio shows with my own radio show, they make such a big thing out of vitamin D. They're trying to scare the living life out of people and vitamin D. It's incredible when the vast majority of people are low in vitamin D, doctors don't care about that. They only care mostly about high levels of vitamin D. And they're taught in medical school. This is dangerous. Dean, you could die from too much vitamin D. No. And the vast majority of people who are sick with any chronic disease. Now remember at the Martin Clinic, at the doctors in podcasts, I put vitamin D as a biomarker for metabolic syndrome, okay? Okay. Remember what we did here, and I think I'm 100% right about this.

Metabolic syndrome is characterized by high triglycerides, low HDL, okay? Low cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, slightly elevated blood sugar, belly fat, and then I added a few, okay? High uric acid and low levels of vitamin D. And you know what? I'd even put B12 in there. I think I'm going to do it. Low levels of B12, that's metabolic syndrome. 93% of the population, geovanni has metabolic syndrome and they're on the Titanic. They're headed for disaster because metabolic syndrome is at the root of all disease, cancer, cardiovascular, diabetes, Alzheimer's and partially autoimmune add leaky gut, and you got autoimmune, okay? And metabolic syndrome is caused by eating too many crappy carbs and sugars and the insulin, you got insulin resistance. So geovanni does too much Vitamin D, is it dangerous? It ain't dangerous, but we're shooting for high. But some people, because usually when you get high levels of vitamin D, you got another problem. It's not the vitamin D that's the problem. You got other problems, you're usually on medications or you have autoimmune disease, you can get high levels of vitamin D from that. Okay? Dehydration, there's other, but kidney stones, look, the vast majority of kidney stones are caused by oxalates. 75% oxalates.

How do you get oxalates when you think you're a rabbit and you're not? You're eating too much salad and vegetable. You live on vegetables. Well, you're a rabbit. That's how you get oxalates and chocolate ladies and drinking tea. That's how you get oxalates. And that forms the majority of kidney stones and also gallstones too because you ain't a rabbit. And the other 15 or 20% or whatever are caused by uric acid. Crystals too much high fructose corn syrup, too much fructose. Now, I don't stop people from eating fruit, but I stop people from drinking fruit. So Giovanni, when you hear that vitamin D causes kidney stones, run forests, run, it's nonsense, okay? I'm not saying it couldn't happen. They might see it once a year out of kazillions of patients.

It's so silly. But I'm glad you asked Giovanni because it got me excited. I'm a big defender of sun steak and steel, okay? I'm a big defender of it and I've been defending it for as long as the cows have been coming home, okay? I love those expressions. Okay, thank you Giovanni. Crystal says, I work full-time graveyard, 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM I sleep from eight to two. I would like to take the cortisol control, but it'll help you. It will help you cortisol. Remember? And even on our labels in Canada, not in the USA, but in Canada it's Health Canada regulations. They see something like ashwagandha and they say, well, don't take this before going to bed. It might make you drowsy anyway. I don't want to get in trouble. But cortisol can be taken during the day. It balances cortisol so it can be taken during the day.

A lot of people do. They find it takes away that vibe. They got inside just sort of stress, and they're in a vibration almost. They're up tight. And that's good to take cortisol during the day. And they're, you know what? I'll tell you something as a sleepy, okay? It's the number one reason we formulated that. And it's not one thing. How many ingredients we got in there? Eat. And I put that sleep aid up against any sleep aid. Okay? Read the reviews. Tens of thousands of people would agree with the statement I just made. And you know what? Listen to me crystal, okay? Because you're on graveyard shift, okay? Of course your circadian rhythm's going to be thrown off, okay? And you're probably going to be generally low in vitamin D. Make sure you check that twice a year. Crystal. I would have your vitamin D levels checked, okay?

Because you're not generally getting the melatonin that you need that comes in from the sunlight. But anyway, the best way to find out is to get me your de hydroxy vitamin D levels. So check for that. But yes, you do well with cortisol for I take cortisol formula every day and I never get uptight. Liar, liar, pants on fire. Okay, Sherry, okay, is there a natural alternative to Entresto about the, well, Entresto is a medication for congestive heart failure. Is it not? You want me to Google it? I kind of forget. I think it is. Okay, Entresto. Let me just do it. Okay. It is, what is it used for? Heart failure. Congestive heart failure. I was right. Okay, so what is your question? Let me get back to your question to make sure I answer it properly here. Is there a natural alternative? Well, listen.

Okay. I never tell people not to take a medication. You guys. You know that when I don't know your history and I don't know, I'm not in my practice days even. I was very reticent to tell a patient not to take a medication. I would tell them the side effects. I would tell 'em the benefits. I would tell 'em the long-term effects. I would give patients information so that they could make a decision based on information. And I went through last week, we had, you guys have got to listen to these podcasts maybe over again. I really went after three categories of medication. PPIs. People have no idea how serious those side effects are. And they were never, never meant for long-term use. Statin drugs, the hoax of the century and antibiotics. The greatest discovery of the 20th century is becoming the curse of the 21st.

And I talked about those. And this one here, there's always side effects to medication. But if you have congested heart failure, I am big on making sure diet is really good. Cutting down on the carbs. I'm very big on protein and fat. Eggs, meat and cheese. Keep your insulin down. That helps your heart. It helps with atherosclerosis. I would have a person with congestive heart failure on navit. All pine bark extract. It opens up the blood vessels by elevating nitric oxide. High DHA would lubricate your blood vessels very good for your heart tonight, have them on coq 10. That is the trinity for congestive heart failure. Coq 10, you all. Of course, that's ubiquinol CO Q 10 NAL pine bark extract. Fantastic. Hi, DHA. Okay, thank you for the question. It is much a pre, she ate it. Okay, that was Sherry and Laura. I have taken Panta lock for the past for a period of time. Panta lock would be an antacid. It's trying to keep your antacid down. Okay?

I no longer do, but what should I be taking to make sure I can avoid the side effects from that drug? Well, digestive enzymes, I would have you on high DHA, because what Panta lock does when you coat your stomach or you reduce the acidity, you are not breaking down protein the way you should. You're not going to get the amino acids the way you should. You're not going to get your minerals the way you should. A lot of people at Pantoloc, they're low in vitamin D, they're low in B12. Make sure get them tested. Check where you are with that, okay? Because those can be major, major side effect. And without good levels of vitamin D and without B12, your brain ain't going to operate as well. Okay? I used to have everyone and their dog on digestive enzymes and probiotics really helps to regenerate and help you to assimilate your nutrients. Okay, thank you, Laura. Fred asking about balance problems for seniors. Yeah, well, no fun.

One of the best things I tell people to do, the more we study muscle, the more we study muscle, the more we realize what an endocrine organ that is. Muscle is like having an extra organ. When you have more muscle, you metabolically are so much better. And balance wise it helps. Okay? Now you've got all sorts of inner ear problems and meres, tinnitus, balance. No fun. I always tell people if I'm going to help you with balance in terms of supplements, I always was big on a combination of navit, all pine bark extract because again, it's the little blood supply in the middle ear and cursin, it's a natural antihistamine and curcumin, very powerful. So those three things I found to be helpful in combination. And I would say Fred, one of the best ways to get strong muscles, they compensate, they help, but it ain't no fun. And there's no magic there.

Theresa had her thyroid ablated for graves. Graves is autoimmune. Hyperthyroid, okay? That's graves, Hashimoto's, hypo autoimmune. Okay? Would it be dead? It wouldn't be necessarily completely dead, but you got to understand something. I think it's important there. Okay? The thyroid is like a puppet. It's got a lot of strings attached to it. So if your thyroid's not functioning properly or if your thyroid has been removed, your body goes to plan B. And there's a lot of things that make up for the thyroid. Your ovaries do, progesterone does. Cortisol has an effect on it. Insulin has an effect on it. Your liver has an effect on it. So there's a lot of strings attached. Your pituitary gland, you still got that. Okay, so you start from the top. I would have you on our thyroid formula and what else were you asking? And she's on medication. Levothyroxine, do you think you need cortisol control? It would be helpful. Cortisol robs your progesterone. That'll have an effect on your thyroid hormones, guaranteed. So, yep, I do all of the above.

Okay, Judy, is it dangerous to take ibuprofen? Yep. Long term. Okay, long term. Like ibuprofen if you're going to take it for a day or two and just sort of snip off the pain. But ibuprofen would never, never meant to be taken long-term. And a lot of people do. A lot of people that use it as a sleeping aid. A lot of people use hyper. They got chronic pain, they take it every day. Well, you're going to have leaky gut that is guaranteed. So you need to protect that. And a lot of liver, lot of kidney damage. Protect the liver, protect the kidneys, flush it out, drink a lot of water. But I really try to get patients off any long term problems. Okay? Trudy, my granddaughter's nurse practitioner told her she has endometriosis and has low estrogen. Did you see me get an instant migraine? You got too much estrogen when endometriosis. I saw thousands of women over the years with endometriosis and they had estrogen coming out their ears, okay, elevate the progesterone, dim out the estrogen.

Estrogen is a growth hormone. The endometrium is growing. And lower insulin too. Two, get insulin's, a growth hormone. Lower it. Get it down. I think I got every question. If I missed one, would you let me know? I think I got everything. Any who guys, we appreciate you watching. Of course, we got a great week coming up. Send in your questions for q and a Friday. I had so many, I hope I didn't miss any. If I did, just send me a little note info at Martin Clinic. I'll answer your question. Okay. We love you guys dearly, sincerely, truly, and any other way. We do talk to you soon.
