Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone, and once again, welcome to another live this morning. Hope you're having a wonderful start to your day, and we appreciate you guys coming on. Linda is asking a question, is it safe to take cream of tartar, which is a potassium, a potassium crate, one eighth of a teaspoon, adding it to water with my salt and lemon? Yeah, I don't see any problem with that. Potassium is an important mineral and far too many people are low in potassium. We need about 4,800 milligrams of potassium a day. You need a lot more potassium than you need magnesium, for example. And you know what? I think of magnesium. I love magnesium, but it's probably about 10 to one ratio. And if you get a supplement of potassium, at least in Canada, they really restrict it to 99 milligrams. And the reason they do that, and I understand it, okay, I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand why they do it. Health Canada has some pretty strict rules for potassium because potassium has an enormous effect on your heart. But to say that I've seen people, oh, what's the problem with you? You take too much potassium. Nah, it's the opposite of that generally. I mean, when I think of cream of tartar, I mean, isn't that how you make lemon meringue pie?

Okay, now you guys listening, you let us know if you use cream of tartar in terms of a supplement. I never even thought of it to be honest, but when you're adding that to water, like a one eighth of a teaspoon of cream of tatar, I don't know what it tastes like in water, but it's certainly wouldn't hurt you. It's potassium. Okay? It wouldn't hurt you. So yeah, go for it. Linda.

Sherry, what are your thoughts on meranga powder? Okay, let me tell you something. Meranga had its day in the sun, and here's what I mean by that. Okay? I had a radio show for 20 years and everybody and their dog just about tried to get my attention so that I would promote something on my radio show. You have to understand, almost weekly I had a product that would come on my desk, somebody would drop it off in my office and they wanted me to endorse it.

And a lot of it were just people that had a home business or whatever, and Merana powder and merana, I called it its Day in the Sun, meaning that everybody for about, I don't know, a couple of months we're talking about this new product out and it cured everything from pimples on your nose to warts on your toes, okay? It had its day in the sun. I wasn't against it, okay? I wasn't against it, but you had to understand I was in practice. I needed results. Yeah, meringue like it's an antioxidant, and I got no problem with it at all. People find it really helps 'em with any kind of condition. I got no problem with it. I just know that it's probably good, but I know what's better. And I used to tell people, well, if you want to look at research, there's nothing on the planet in terms of an antioxidant that has been researched more than pine bark extract, even more than grape seed extract is pine bark extract.

And I'm very familiar with it. I use it in my office with great results, and I'm going to compare anything you bring me to that. So it had its day in the sun and you don't hear about it all that much anymore. Like I said, I'm not against it at all, but I never found it to be what it was all cracked up to do, at least in those days. I'm talking 20 years ago now. Okay? Okay. Thank you, Sherry. Tina, I have dup putter's contracture in my baby finger. Okay, so what is ritter's? It is like a lock, what we call a trigger finger. So she would have a, Tina has it in her baby finger, and it's where you bend your finger and it wants to lock. And if you go down, it's not actually in the finger. Where the problem is, is you have to go down into the tendons in your hand and you will find a fibrosis there.

Okay? Now, two things. One, oftentimes when you get du returns contracture. Now of course, if you are using your hand, I saw it in knitters, I saw it in people that worked gripping or whatever, and they get a fibrous tissue there, and you got to break that down. Sometimes they do surgery, but I could show patients how to break that down. But the other thing is often it is a sign. And I'm not saying it is with you, Tina, I'm not saying that, but it's possible that it's a sign because I used to see this, a lot of insulin resistance. You can get insulin resistance in your fingers. What? Well, if you have what they call advanced glycation end products, okay, glycation, it's a loss of elasticity even in a tendon in the finger, and that can happen with insulin. It can be a sign of insulin resistance.

I used to show my patients that in the office because a lot of them had it, and I used to measure insulin resistance. So two things. One, gripping or using whatever. And you can develop a dunce contracture, and it may be both. You have glycation, you have insulin resistance in the finger. Imagine that. Okay? Thank you for the question, Tina. Andy, will you help me with CKD chronic kidney disease? Well, listen, Andy, I'm going to give you some rule of thumbs, okay? You get chronic kidney disease ordinarily when you are a carbo holic, sugar. Sugar is very, very extremely hard on the kidneys. Sugar is extremely hard on your eyes. Anything with circulation. So when you look at the kidneys, think circulation, blood supply, the first thing that happens when your sugars are high, it destroys blood vessels. It's the first thing, not diabetes. Diabetes comes later.

So almost invariably, kidney problems started with circulation problems to the kidneys, which started with sugar problems to the kidneys. So Andy, put that in your craw. That's number one. Number two, with kidneys, H2O water, the vast majority of people that get C, k, D, chronic kidney disease are dehydrated. They didn't know it. They had no light on top of their head that came on to show them that they were dehydrated, but they were dehydrated. Your kidneys are Niagara Falls 24 hours a day. You need water to wash out because kidneys are very susceptible to crud because kidneys are cleaning out the body and you're getting rid of garbage in your urine, and you need to flush those kidneys. And only water is water only. Water is water. Nothing else is water, only water. So Andy one, sugar, carbs, crappy carbs, get her down two water, at least two liters a day, 64 ounces for my American friends.

If you're not used to that amount, if measure it out. I've proven it to tens of thousands of patients over the years, tens of thousands, they were dehydrated. They didn't know it. They had blood as thick as molasses, and they didn't know it because said, doc, I'm not thirsty. Now, don't wait for that. Don't wait for that. Here's what you need. A minimum of two liters of water a day or 64 ounces of water every day, seven days a week. Okay? Think Niagara Falls. Okay? Third thing, one of the most damaging things to the kidneys are oxalates. Okay? Little glass, they get into the kidneys, little wee spikes. That's what oxalates are. Calcium oxalates, and I've seen this over the years, people, and don't drink green drinks. Don't drink almond milk. Don't drink oat milk. Don't drink that stuff. Why? Very high in oxalates and oxalates will damage your kidneys, okay?

You should never drink juice. By the way, don't drink it because fructose is very hard on the kidneys, fructose when you drink it. If you want to eat an orange, eat it, but don't drink orange. God wanted you to eat it, not to drink it. And those green smoothies and those green drinks, the juicing, it gives me a migraine headache when I see people drinking them, why they create oxalates very damaging to the kidneys. Okay, there you go. Kidneys 1 0 1. Okay, thanks, Andy. We appreciate it. Fern. Two weeks in a row, I'm answering a question about Bell's palsy. So last week we talked about what it is, how you get it. It's usually a perfect storm. I can't think of a case of where I saw Bell Palsy where it wasn't a perfect storm of stress and virus. Okay? I've seen it. I've seen Bell palsy a lot in my day.

And if I had be palsy, what would I do? Well, I'd be on B12, because that's your nerve vitamin. Okay? So Bell's Palsy is a paralysis of the facial nerve, and it ain't no fun under the sun. I can tell you that. And sometimes it comes back. I've seen it permanent. But to restore someone that has Bell palsy, here's my little protocol that I used to give them. Okay? B12 Natal, which is pine bark extract, okay? High DHA. Sometimes I would add curcumin in there, and even the cortisol formula to de-stress them. Okay? So thanks for the question, Fern. Okay, this is a rare one, but we'll touch on it. My 60-year-old sister is suffering with esophageal diverticulum. Okay? What is that? You know what diverticulosis is? You guys know this. What is it? Diverticulosis is little pouches in your colon. Okay? I saw it thousands of times and I'm not exaggerating, okay?

Little pouches that develop. And I used to tell people with diverticulosis, which often can become diverticulitis because if you've got little holes or little pouches in your intestine, think about it, that can get infected and then you're in deep trouble, okay? Can be very, very serious if it becomes diverticulitis and diverticulosis not fun either. And you know what I used to do? Here's what I used to do for the colon. Get off all fibers because doctors would put you on fiber even more. I said, well, that's what caused it in the first place. You're eating too much grass, salad. Where does spinach get caught in your teeth? Well, it gets caught in your gut too, and it's another reason for those oxalates that can get caught in the gut, not only in your kidneys, but the gut. So I used to get people, I said, here's your new fiber.

What doc? What? Water? Okay. I never heard water was like fiber. Yep. And coffee. There's your two new fibers. What? Yeah. You like coffee? Oh, I love coffee. Good. You like water? Maybe not so much, but I said get used to it because you need water. You better flush and lay off the stinking salad. You're not a rabbit. Your colon wasn't made for that. Now, why am I talking like that? Because here's a person, I don't know them from Adam. They got esophageal diverticulosis. Big word. They have these pouches in their esophagus. Now why? Look, it may be too much acid. Over the years, it might've been silent. A reflux that was coming up affecting the esophagus. I've got my theories on that. Carol is saying, any advice she would love to eat eggs, meat, and cheese, but that isn't possible. Well, usually, anytime I've ever heard of esophageal osis, they call it diverticulum, they're usually a candidate for surgery to try and fix those things.

Now, I don't know, Carol, I don't know your sister, whatever. I would have her drink smoothies, not green ones. Bone broth for the protein. 35% cream, okay? Heavy cream for your dairy. Put in a few berries, but you need that protein. I would have her on my used to be called blood boost. You can actually put this in the smoothie if you want, put in a tablespoon for her because she can't eat anything right now. Do that multi nutrient and watch the difference. It'll be a big difference. Okay? Thank you for the question. And oh, she's asking, she was on an antidepressant for five years. Could that be the cause? You don't want to get me going on antidepressants? Okay, because I've been following the antidepressants since the 1970s, and I remember when they came out, they were meant to be used temporarily. They actually had a warning.

Do not go beyond six months. It was meant to get you out of a crisis. But today, now it's part of medicine. How many millions of people are on antidepressants? How many young people are on antidepressants? It's not good. It was never meant to be. Anyway, that's a whole other issue. And maybe we ought to talk about it again because one thing just bring you back. Could it have caused diverticulum in the esophagus? I don't know. I have to think about that. But one thing I know, the summer of 21 or 22, I got to get my summers. The whole mental health community was turned upside down by research on the research. And they came to the conclusions that Alzheimer's, all that they have done for Alzheimer's was wrong in terms of research. All of it, all they have done on antidepressants being a chemical imbalance was wrong.

Can you imagine all of the people? And they said, well, the premise is wrong. Now on this program, we talked about that a lot, but of course, it didn't take root in the media. It didn't change your doctors. It should have. They should have been re-looking at mental health. But things get ingrained and it's hard to change a leper spots, isn't it? Yeah. Okay. Anyways, Carol, thanks for the question. Okay, I'm going to look up if a side effect could be diverticulum in the esophagus. I don't know. I can't see the process, but maybe I don't know when I got to look at it. Okay, Lillian, I want to do the 30 day reset. Smart girl, but I don't want to lose any weight. Okay, well then don't worry about it. Look, the reset, even though it's the healthiest weight loss, the healthiest weight loss process that you can do, it's the healthiest.

What you're doing with the reset is changing fuel. Now, why are we doing the reset? Why? Because of insulin and insulin resistance. And you want to fix that. That's why you do it. Now, if you go wait to lose, it's the best way to do it. It's better than wavy. It's better than any of that stuff because you're doing something that's good for your body. It's healthy, okay? It's very healthy. Now, Lillian, you don't want to lose any weight, but that doesn't mean you don't have insulin resistance. You can have a problem with insulin and be as skinny as the rake, okay? A lot of people are thin, but they got fat on the inside. They have visceral fat around their organs and they have no idea. They don't know that you might have Lillian, your liver might be gummed up, I don't know. But if you like carbs, your liver is probably all gummed up of fat, but you wouldn't know it unless you got tested for it, right?

The best way to lose weight is to do it for the right reason, not only weight loss. And it ain't calories, it's nutrients. So if you don't want to lose weight, Lillian, don't worry because the reset is good for you because just eat more eggs and meat and cheese, not less, more, and you won't lose weight, you'll gain much. You see, people don't realize when they starve, they count calories and their calories are gone down. You might lose some weight, but you're losing muscle, not fat. You don't want to lose muscle, Lillian. So we eat a lot of protein and you're doing the right thing because everyone should do the reset in their lifetime. Everyone, and especially if you're a carbo holic, and you can be skinny as a rake and be a carbo holic, okay? Obesity is not necessarily the only sign of insulin resistance.

Okay? Thanks Lillian. Jody, an oncologist recommended not taking B12 because it raises estrogen levels and could cause the breast cancer to return. Is there a correlation between B12 supplementation and high levels of estrogen? Jody, I have been around 50 years and plus not. But in my clinical days, I have never ever, ever heard that before. Okay? I don't understand it. That B12 elevates estrogen. What? I've never heard that. Well, first of all, it's not true. Okay? What elevates estrogen? And we live in an estrogen dominated world. What elevates estrogen? The environment more than anything else. Pills, birth control, every chemical, everything. We live in an estrogen dominated world. Now, was the doctor saying, don't eat red meat? Could that elevate your estrogen? I don't know. I can't understand what the oncologist was even talking about. Can you get them to talk to me and explain?

Can you get the oncologist to talk to me and explain to me how B12 elevates estrogen? Now, the second part of the question from Jody, does broccoli in dim cause high oxalate levels? No, it doesn't. It's an extract. Dim is an extract. And even when you eat some broccoli, look, there's some oxalate, but very little. I like broccoli. I got a grandson named Brock, and I call him broccoli. I love him. But guys, dim is an extract. It comes from there, but it's highly, highly focused on blocking extra estrogen. I've used dim with unbelievable results for years and years and years and years in my practice, and I could prove it to people. I could show people that I could block estrogen. I'll show you for my folks that are listening on a podcast, I'm showing something. I'm showing them pictures from my office of women.

Okay? Here's one of an estrogen scan. And this lady had more estrogen. She had more spots of estrogen on her breast tissue than a leopard does, like spotty. And then I put her on dim, and then I got this within, hold on. What was the difference in dates? The difference was about a year we scanned her again and she went from this to this. No estrogen left on the chest wall. I've proven that to people block estrogen. And every day I get asked questions about estrogen, just about we live in a dominated world of estrogen. It's everywhere. It's everywhere. You can't run away from it, so you better take care of it. And why do you think we see so much breast cancer today? And what is prostate cancer, by the way? In men estrogen. It's a growth hormone. It makes a woman, a woman, and a man, a woman, too. So be careful.
