1203. The Cream vs. Milk Showdown

Have you ever looked at the nutrition label on a carton of milk? If you have, you may have been surprised by how much sugar is in a cup of milk, and especially in 1% skim milk.

Join Dr. Martin as he compares the nutrition labels on 35% whipped cream and 1% skim milk. He explains what happened that so many people fell for the lie that fat makes you fat, and that fat free options are healthier options.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning everyone. Once again, welcome to another live. Hope you're having a great start to your day. We're happy, so very happy that you're coming on with us, and we thank you for coming on live. We appreciate it. Okay, let's take a little trip to the grocery store. I want to show you something. The cartons were the same, so you really had to read the labels because you could easily make a mistake here. But I want to show you something and you guys know how to read labels and it's important to do that. Let's look at how the food industry, how they have duped everyone and they're really good at it. I mean, you've got to give them credit they are good at, and I want to show you something, okay?

Now again, for those who are going to listen to this later, not with us live, I want you to imagine, I've got two cartons here. Well, one is milk, 1%, skim milk, 1%, and then I'm going to show you the label, okay? The same company, Sealtest of 35% heavy cream, whipped cream. Okay? See like almost the same carton. Now what you have to do is read the labels, okay? Have you done that with milk and cream? Why do I call milk white Pepsi? There's a reason for it. People don't realize it. Now, a few disclaimers. If you have a cow in the backyard, I'd want you to drink milk, okay? Go for it, if you have a cow in the backyard. All I know is in Canada and most of the United States, I think I'm right about this, it is illegal to drink whole milk. It's actually illegal. I mean, there may be ways of getting around it, but generally people are not privy to drinking milk straight out of a cow, okay? And that's I say if you've got a cow in the backyard, drink milk. Otherwise you don't need it, and here's why.

So I'm going to take the 1% carton, and I want to show you the label. Remember here we have partly skimmed milk on the label and they add vitamin A and vitamin D. They add vitamin A and vitamin D. Good luck absorbing those. But that's the food industry. If you drink milk, real milk, whole milk coming out of a cow, you don't have to add vitamin D and you don't have to add vitamin A by the way. Okay? But let me show you this, okay? Now I go right away. How many sugars are in 1% skim milk? Okay, so what happens? They take the fat out of it. I'm going to show you something. 13 grams of sugar, what? 13 grams of sugar in one cup. Okay? So a little under four teaspoons of sugar in one cup of milk. Now I'm going to show you the difference in 35% cream, okay? 35% cream. And we're going to look at the sugars in cream. Zero sugars. Zero sugars.

People don't realize it when you take fat out of milk, and you got to understand how this happened. You guys know this, but I'm going to reinforce it. How did this happen? Why? Because, to the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, media industry, fat makes you fat, okay? If you understand that, you'll understand why they do what they do. We want you to eat fat free because fat makes you fat, okay? Got it? Fat makes you fat. That ain't true, but it doesn't matter to change their minds. This has been going on for 50 years. You're buying 1% skim milk. My generation, okay, me, my parents' generation them, they bought this hook, line and sinker. You get people, and we need skim. Skim is a better milk. No, it's not. No, it's not. It's white Pepsi. You're drinking a soda.

Folks, don't be duped. Don't put yourself in the category of people that have no idea. It all started with the cholesterol hoax. It wasn't true. Cholesterol, fat when it came to weight loss. Fat makes you fat. Cholesterol gives you heart disease. Looking for love in all the wrong places. It was never true. So people go to the grocery store, and I get this, by the way, in feedback every day, just about every day. "Dr. Martin, are you kidding me? I can have bacon and eggs every day? Sausage and eggs and red meat and cream? You are kidding me. That can't be true. It can't be good for me." I said, it's very good for you. Pretend you're an Inuit and you live on blubber. The best fuel in the world is eggs, meat and cheese. Cream, dairy, butter. You know how good that stuff is for you?

But Dr. Martin, it looks like cholesterol. It's fat. Yeah, but fat don't make you fat. It don't make you fat. It doesn't give you heart disease. It doesn't clog up your arteries. That's what people think because they think of fat, right? I'm showing one pound of fat right here. And they think, okay. They look at this and they go, well, no wonder they're eating fat. They're eating cholesterol. And by the way, cholesterol is only found in the animal kingdom. You don't find cholesterol in plants and fruit. Cholesterol's not in plants or fruit, but I want you to eat cholesterol. I want you to provide 15%, and God will do the rest. Your body will do the rest. It will produce 85%. Now, is that too much to ask that you provide your 15%? Okay, do your part eat cholesterol because cholesterol, I'll give you a new study that just came out. I was going to talk about it.

Here is an article written by a cardiologist. Here's what he says. Cholesterol is the repair mechanism for the damage that is done by poor metabolic health. Hello? This cardiologist gets it. And what he wrote in the article is when you have high triglycerides and you have low cholesterol, low HDL. Okay, we like to measure that. You have high triglycerides and low HDL. He says, that is super dangerous for heart disease, super dangerous, not cholesterol. Cholesterol, he says, is the repair mechanism. When you're metabolically unwell, your blood vessels get damaged. They're damaged by sugar, they're damaged by those stinky carbohydrates, the crappy carbs and the fast foods, and those damage your blood vessels. They create a cascade of inflammation and damage in the blood vessels and cholesterol, which is always circulating in your blood vessels. Okay?

Count the trucks, the delivery trucks, the next time you're on the highway, okay? Anytime you see a delivery truck of any kind, a big transport or an Amazon truck or a UPS or Canada Post or whatever, the next time you're on the highway, look at the amount of trucks or count them if you want. And you'll see there's a lot of delivery trucks on the highways and byways. It's the same thing in your body. Cholesterol is always circulating. Why? They deliver repair mechanism. They're the good guys. They're the policemen, they're the firemen. And then they hitch their wagon to bad fats. Triglycerides, when they see triglycerides, they go, come here. I'm taking you back. I'm getting you out of your bloodstream. You're dangerous. You are going to clog up those arteries. Come here with me. And it hitches its wagon to triglycerides and brings them back to the liver for processing.

Now, I've taught you that. So is cholesterol bad? No. Oh, doc, what about my total cholesterol? Who cares? What about my LDL? That's bad, right? No, it's actually good for you. You want to die young? Well then lower your cholesterol. Why do you want to lower your cholesterol? Cholesterol's on your side, it's your friend. Now, back to the cartons. What causes triglycerides? Sugar. Sugar, and kids, they don't know any better. Parents, we give them low fat. We put it on cereal that's already loaded with sugar. Then we put sugary milk. We put white Pepsi on their cereal, and then we send them off to school. They have elevated triglycerides at a young age. They got fat balls. Tri, three fat balls, glycerides, three fat balls. And they got lots of them flowing through their bloodstream even at a young age. Where do triglycerides get made? Mainly liver.

And when they get that high fructose corn syrup that we talked about yesterday, that makes a beeline for the liver. These poor kids, they got fatty liver. We never seen fatty liver before. 1980, we saw cirrhosis of the liver. New study out. Let me just see if I can get it. High risk for fatty liver. The silent one. You know what the symptoms are of fatty liver? None. None. There are no symptoms of it. But this one physician who wrote this article says, we call fatty liver the silent one because usually there's no symptoms at all, or. Listen to what he says here in this article. Or they have digestive issues like bloating and acid reflux. That's the only symptoms they have. And this doctor, this gastroenterologist goes on to say, unless I did a liver scan, an ultrasound of the liver, I would've never found it.

Kids, acid reflux. Kids and digestive issues. And then he goes on to say, well, it's because they have fatty liver and fatty liver can be fixed. But if you don't fix it, if you don't change the diet, it goes into cirrhosis of the liver. Now that's what I studied when I was in school. Cirrhosis, fibrosis, the liver loses its texture. Cirrhosis is deadly. Now you're talking liver transplants or death. Today, it's like every second person. It's not that much, but I'm telling you, it seems like it to me. It's so prevalent today. Doctors can't get over it, how much liver cancer they're seeing. There used to be a rare cancer. Pancreatic cancer was a rare cancer when I was a kid. Stomach cancer, rare cancer. But these are becoming, they're huge. And it's the amount of sugar we're eating because people, do you think they would take out a 1% carton here and they would think this could give me fatty liver? How can this give me fatty liver? It doesn't have any fat in it, but fatty liver comes from sugar, honey.

And this is why I tell you, give your kids, give your grandchildren a Dr. Martin's perfect smoothie with heavy cream. The cream is good for their brain. It's got cholesterol, okay? And that cholesterol is on your side. Okay? Cholesterol's on your side. It's not the boogeyman. It's helpful. It's the firemen. They'll help at the scene of a fire. The policemen, they're on your side. The bad guy is triglycerides. The bad guy is inflammation. It's silent. So is fatty liver. It's a silent thing. People don't even realize that. Why do you think the reset is so good for you? How can that be good for you, Dr. Martin? While I'm telling you, one thing you're doing on the reset is emptying that liver. And your liver has the ability like no other organ, and I mean this. Your liver has the ability like no other organ to regenerate itself.

If you have fatty liver, you can fix it simply by changing the fuel you put into your liver. Change fuels. You're going to get legions of good things happening. But the reset, because people ask me every day, they've been so ingrained with the thinking that fat is bad for you. They're so ingrained that, "Dr. Martin, that much protein, can that be good for me?" It's good for everything. But you see in nature, think about this for a minute. God puts fat and protein together in nature. So when you look at a piece of meat, well, you got fat in there. The more fat the better. Why do you think bacon is good for you? I know a lot of people have a hard time wrapping their head around that bacon is good for me? Yeah, yeah. What do you mean it's good for me? Look at all the fat. Well, that's the point. It's a perfect combination of fat and protein and there's no carbs associated with it. What? Yeah.

And it's got more potassium. Well, Dr. Martin, if I don't have a banana, if I don't have my avocado, my doctor wants me to eat bananas for my potassium. Well, why don't you have bacon? It's got more potassium than avocados and bananas put together. Why would you not eat bacon? I had a patient tell me the other day, former patient, well, I don't like bacon. Well then eat sausage. Bacon has the same oil as olive oil. Do you like olive oil? Yeah, I like olive oil. Okay. I like bacon better. Okay. I like bacon better. So you see the deception in labeling, and you better be aware of it. The cartons look almost identical. And one says 35% cream whipped cream. The other one says 1% skim milk. They taken the fat out of it and left 1% in there. How stupid is that thinking that's good for you?

Because again, the mantra was cholesterol is bad, fat is bad, and calories, high calories are bad. If you take those three together, you have a movement that started in the 1960s and medicine bought it. Dieticians bought it, big pharma bought it, and big food bought it, and big media bought it. Five. Not the fabulous five, okay? The five bought it. They bought it, and it's become doctrine. It's in the craw of those five. It's in their craw. It's almost like when you see something that's shocking, you can't unvisualize it. That's them, the big five. They run the world. They run the world. So when they see fat, it scares the living life out of them. So fatty food is really bad. Why? Calories. It clogs up your arteries. It makes you fat and it elevates your cholesterol. All bad things according to those five. And you have to understand that day after day and 24 hour a day news cycles, it's part of their DNA now. It's going to be so difficult.

You know what guys? Go one at a time. Do you have someone that will listen, then speak to them about it? Tell 'em, well, you know what you learned about fat, is not true? Okay? And listen, you can bring a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it. But you can add some salt and make them thirsty for it. No, listen, every day, every day, I get pushback every day. That's alright. Do I expect it? Big time? And it's one of the reasons I do podcasting. Why do I do it? Well, if anyone wants to listen, I want to be on the other side out there, show you. And guys, it comes from all my clinical experience, not necessarily my schooling. I got a lot of schooling, but a lot of it was upside down. It really wasn't true. I had to study it, and that's all right. Okay. That's all right. I want you to make up your own mind. I'm going to give you my version, and then you decide. You decide, okay?

I want to breathe. Okay, there we go. Okay, guys, don't put me in a grocery store because it can be very unpleasant at times. I wanted to scream, when I looked at these two cartons, I wanted to scream. Hello? Listen, this is stupid. They're trying to kill us. Anyway, guys, you know what Friday is, right?
