TRANSCRIPT OF TODAY'S EPISODE

Announcer:  You're listening to The Doctor Is In Podcast, brought to you by MartinClinic.com. During the episode, the doctors share a lot of information. As awesome as the info may be, it is not intended to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any disease. It's strictly for informational purposes.

Dr. Martin:  Well, good morning, everyone. Hope you're having a great start to your day, and welcome to another live this morning. I hope you had your vitamin C. A new study came out yesterday on coffee. Aha. Now, we're going to continue on with the... I knew I wasn't going to get very far yesterday because we talked about the 10 most prescribed prescription medications. Now, what I am saying to you and I said yesterday, as we continue on, we'll get through the last 10, but a couple of late developments, and I mean this, studies that came out yesterday, after, at least I read them after, our program yesterday, and they have an influence on what we were talking about, 10 most prescribed meds.

The first two... Now, we only hit two yesterday, eight more to go. Now, remember, these are 2020 statistics. Okay? Obviously, 2021's just about done, but these are statistics for 2020, the top 10 medications for 2020. Because of this study that came out, and it didn't even make the top 10, were antidepressants as far as the top 10 medications, but listen to this. This came out yesterday, so I am predicting that it will move into the top 10 when they get out of 2021. Okay? Now, let me just read it to you. 25% of the British population, a quarter... What are they over there, 60 million people? 80 million? I can't remember now. A quarter of the population in the last three months have taken an antidepressant.

Headlines out of the United Kingdom, in the last three months, 25% of the population there has taken an antidepressant. Of course, we've talked about this a lot, the unintended consequences. There as a major story out of the United Kingdom yesterday too I flagged. Let me read it to you. Unintended consequences, literally, guys, I could write a book about that. The unintended consequences of the lockdowns, 25% of the population in the last three months in the United Kingdom has taken an antidepressant, but listen to this one. Listen to this one. Yesterday, out of the United Kingdom, The Telegraph newspaper, here's the quote I'm quoting now from the headline. Biggest cancer catastrophe to ever hit the NHS, which would be like the Health Department in the United Kingdom, the biggest cancer catastrophe to ever hit is up to 740,000 potential cancer cases have been missed. Almost 800,000, they're estimating, cancer cases have been missed in the United Kingdom.

Now, why would that be any different here? Why would that be any different in Canada or the United States? We're so focused, and again, guys, I'm not minimizing anything. Please, don't come after me. People get uptight. They're so uptight. You can't talk about anything. Now, you guys are not like that, but I'm telling you, even on our Facebook, people come after me. All I'm giving you is things that come out in the news. I want to get in behind the news so that you understand what's going on in this world of ours. One quarter of the population in the last three months in the United Kingdom has taken an antidepressant. We're talking about the most prescribed medications. Another unintended consequence is the misdiagnosis of cancer. Now, you know my philosophy. It's not early detection. That's what medicine does. They want to be into early detection. Okay. I'm not against that, but I'm much more interested in prevention of cancer, because they don't talk about that.

The only time they ever talked about it, as far as I know, prevention, cancer prevention, was when they told people to stop smoking. Just stop smoking. That was good advice, 100%. The only time, never talk about food. I belong to a nutritional organization, and I read an article this morning by one of my colleagues on cancer and red meat. They can't help themselves. They're buying the lives. Okay. So, let's get back. I'm going to try and prove to you, like I talked about statin drugs yesterday, not antibiotics. We talked about it, but that's the number two. If you need an antibiotic, you take an antibiotic. Okay? I talked about that yesterday. Statin drug, Lipitor, still the number one seller based on faulty science. It's a narrative, and they still push it, and in my lifetime I'll be shocked if anything ever changes where Lipitor is not number one on the hit parade.

Speaking of the United Kingdom, they actually had a vote in Parliament, or at least it was coming up for a vote in Parliament, in the United Kingdom, about 10 years ago, they were actually considering putting statin drugs in drinking water. I'm telling you, that's a true story. You should've heard me screaming. Wow. I wasn't doing my Facebook Lives, but I had a radio show. You should've heard me screaming, "Are you kidding me?" It never passed, but they were considering it. That's how insane... Politicians, they are lobbied to death by the Big Pharma, lobbied to death. It's almost like there's nothing else for your health, just drugs. Okay. Number three, blood pressure medication, and number three, number seven, and number eight on the hit parade are all blood pressure medications. Prinivil, number three, Norvasc, number seven, and number eight, Lopressor. Those are for blood pressure.

Now, let me just stop. Why is it guys always ask the question why? Pretend you're a journalist, the way journalists used to be. Pretend for a minute with me. Why? If 50% in North America have high blood pressure, 50%, half, if half the people have high blood pressure, hello? Why is that? I admit, it's dangerous. It's not good to honestly high blood pressure. Now, I think part of the influence of Big Pharma in this area is that they've changed the goal post. 120 over 80 is normal blood pressure, in that range. I'm always more concerned about the diastolic because that second number, anything 90 and above is too high. I really watch for that number more than the first number. Anyway, I don't want to get into details too much other than here's what my experience is. Okay? Here's my experience.

Number one, why do we have high blood pressure? It's insulin, number one reason, and let me tell you why. Because when we consume sugar, and remember, in the 1950s when I was a little boy, North Americans were at 25 pounds. That's just the history of food, guys. It's well established. Like I always say to my grandchildren, because they always think, "Grandpa, you hate sugar. Grandpa, you hate sugar." Well, your body hates sugar. I'm just preaching what your body hates. It hates sugar. It does. It's toxic. But we had sugar too, but only 25 pounds. We had cookies and ice cream, but in the 1950s, people generally were not sugarholics, carboholics.

Watch old movies, guys. You will see, people generally were thin, generally. There was few exceptions to it. By the 1970s, my kids... My four kids were born in the '70s, and for them, they were up to 50 pounds of sugar, 5-O, and then what's well established and what I taught you, there was a huge change that occurred, and the food industry discovered a new sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, and that is the Frankenstein of sugars. That is the antichrist of sugars. It is horrendous. Metabolically, it's been a disaster, and you know what? I talk about it, but it's not talked about enough because 88% of the population have some form of metabolic syndrome, high insulin, and metabolic syndrome, the number one symptom of metabolic symptom, 50% of the population have high blood pressure.

It's food. It's not salt. It's not butter that causes high blood pressure. What causes your blood vessels to constrict? What gives you high blood pressure? Because there's nothing that gets effected quicker than your kidneys when we insist on eating sugar. It's not salt. It's sugar, and three of the top medications are blood pressure medications, and 50% of the population have high blood pressure. I don't want you to have high blood pressure. I'm not telling you to get off your medications for high blood pressure. I'm telling you what is at the root cause, and the second one is vitamin W. The vast majority of people are dehydrated. They don't drink enough water. They have molasses for blood. You want to elevate your blood pressure? Don't drink water, and only water is water, and that is a huge cause of high blood pressure because you've got 60,000 miles of blood vessels, one-and-a-half times around the Equator, in your body.

It's a river. It needs to move, and if you don't drink enough water, your heart has to work twice as hard. People fight that. I get it. Even doctors, "You don't need water. Just drink orange juice. Drink fluids." Nah. Your body knows the difference. Your body knows the difference, because I tested viscosity. It's one of the tests that used to do in my office. I said, "You've got blood like molasses. You're going to drop dead of a heart attack." "Oh, Doctor, I don't like water." "Well, suck it up, buttercup. Would you rather take medication that causes all sorts of other side effects than learn to form a habit of drinking water?" I can't get over it. It's a habit. January 1st is coming. Make a pact with yourself to drink water. I tell people, "Don't be such a baby. I don't care if you don't like it. Who cares? Learn to like it."

You got all these people walking around with high blood pressure, and they're bad eaters, and they don't drink enough water, and they wonder why they got high blood pressure, and all they want to do for the rest of their lives is manage them. Can I tell you something? Meds are wonderful. Okay? It's like you're a diabetic. Okay? Meds are wonderful. We're going to talk between that. Where is it on that list now? I just got to look at it for diabetes. Oh, it's number six on the hit parade, metformin. It's wonderful medication, metformin. It is. However, diabetes is a food problem, and you wouldn't need metformin if you changed your diet. It's as simple as that. It's not complicated, and neither is high blood pressure, guys. It's not complicated, but it's hard to convince people to change their habits.

I used to tell people when they came to see me in the office, I said, "You came, right?" "Yep." "Now you need to trust me." "Yeah?" I said, "Yeah, you got to trust me. Give me 30 days of your life. You're unwell. I want 30 days, not two weeks. I want 30 days. Are you ready to commit to that? I didn't say it was going to be easy but I am going to instill in you some grit so that you get healthy. It's not going to be complicated. I'm not a complicated guy. I'm going to show you what to do. You don't drink water? Well, your body's made up of 70%. You're like planet Earth." "Well, I don't like it." "I don't care," and I meant it. I didn't care. I said, "You want to be healthy? You came to see me. Now I'm telling you what to do. I'm not giving you a pill. I'm telling you to change your habits."

You see, here we are. Number one, statin drugs. Faulty science. It's a food problem. They're talking about cholesterol. You're not eating enough of it. You can eat more cholesterol. Hallelujah. You can eat more cholesterol, and cholesterol is only found in the animal kingdom. So, you got my permission. Go, eat it. Eat more cholesterol. What? Yes, eat more, not less. Now, high blood pressure, eat less crap, C-R-A-P. Stay away from the middle aisles of your grocery store. Don't spend a lot of time in there. Don't spend a lot of money in there. You know what's cheap, is water. Drink water, lover your carbohydrates, cut out sugar, and you will be off a lot of medications in a month.

I used to tell them, "Trust me. Trust me. Give me 30 days of your life." Now, because of this program and whatever, now we have hundreds of thousands of people. I think we're up to about two-and-a-half million people, whether on Facebook or downloading our podcast. Do I know these people? The vast majority, of course not, but it's amazing the feedback we're getting. People are cluing in. Again, I'm not against medication. I'm not. It should be temporary. You need an antibiotic? Go for it. If your blood pressure is high, make sure you're taking your meds until you don't need them. Work with your doctor. Teach your doctor, if they can be taught. It's not easy. Okay?

Let me give you a few more. Number four on the hit parade, so you have statins, number one, Lipitor. Then you have antibiotic Amoxil, blood pressure, three, seven, and eight. Number four, Synthroid, Levothyrox, thyroid medication. It's number four on the hit parade. Millions and millions of people every day take a thyroid medication. Now, let me give you, again, some teaching. Your thyroid is a puppet. It rarely acts on its own. Thyroid has a lot of strings attached to it, like a puppet, and when hormonally you're not well, you get hormones, and I'm drawing you the picture. I'll show it to you again because I have it right in front of me here. Where is it? See that? Okay? Again, for those who are going to be listening to the podcast down the road, I just showed a pyramid, and on top of the pyramid is the thyroid, but it's not independent. It's not independent even of your insulin.

Insulin is in that period. So is cortisol. So are the ovaries. That's why women have thyroid issues much more than men do. Men can have a thyroid issue. I'm not saying they can't. I'm just saying it's 95% to 5%, thyroid, women, because women are complicated. Okay? They're complicated. I've been married 49 years. Women are complicated. Okay? Men, we're simple, some of us stupid, but simple. We don't have hormones. Males are stubborn and easy. They're easy to diagnose, I mean, not to change. Men are difficult to change. I used to ask the question in my office, "Why are you here?" "Because my wife made me come." "Anything wrong?" "Nope." "Feeling good?" "Yep." Oh, men.

I used to say, "Liar, liar, pants on fire. You're a liar. I got your blood results. They ain't good." Anyway, I laugh about it because I'm a man. I know exactly what I'm like, stubborn. But okay. So, we get back, and what do we see? Thyroid. Now, thyroid, again, I'm not telling you to get off meds. Okay? Please. But if you're on thyroid medication, trust me for 30 days. Change your life. Do the reset. Get your estrogen down, ladies. That's a big factor, even in the gut. Okay? Because leaky gut, T4 to T3, 20% of it takes place in the gut, but here's even more important. 80% of the conversion of T4 to T3, 80% of the conversion of T4 to T3, the T3 is the hormone that your thyroid needs for it work properly, occurs in the liver, and guess what most people have trouble with because they're carboholics, they're sugarholics, is their liver gets full of fat, and that effects the thyroid. See?

I bring it back to food, guys. I bring it back to food. It's really, really important to understand that. Okay? So, Synthroid, number four. Number five, lungs, Ventolin. Now, I could spend a whole program just talking about this because I'm a history guy. I want to go, "Give me your history." You find out with lungs... Okay? Here's me. A lot of people have trouble with their lungs because of their childhood, exposed to antibiotics. Antibiotics killed their friendly bacteria. You get an invasion of the third army, which is candida albicans, yeast, and it loves to travel to sinuses, lungs. Why? Remember what I said yesterday. Candida is the first cousin of mold. Where do you find mold? In moisture, in the bathroom, in the basement. Well, your lungs are moist. They need to be. When you get candida, it loves to travel there, to the lungs, and that's why I tell people, "Don't feed the bears."

Did you get your magnet? My granddaughters, two of my granddaughters were in the office yesterday, and they said, "Grandpa, what does don't feed the bears mean?" because they're looking at these magnets. Okay? "What does that mean, Grandpa?" Then I gave them the leaky gut story. I gave them the candida story, and I said, "I made it up," because there's a sign when you come into Sudbury or you go into Northern Ontario into towns. It says, "Don't feed the bears." Well, I never fed a bear. You? But they tell you that. I guess they figure we're stupid in Northern Ontario, they have to put a sign up that says, "Here, bear, bear, bear. Come here. I want to feed you." I don't recommend that, but I don't recommend you feed yeast either. I call yeast bears. Don't feed them. Don't give sugar to yeast because they flourish. Candida flourishes with sugar, and yeast hate steak.

Don't get me started. Okay. I told you I'd finish. I'm going to finish. Okay? I talked about diabetes, metformin. That was number six. Remember, blood pressure took up seven and eight. Lungs was number five. Thyroid was number four, Synthroid, and number nine, oh, and number 10 too, by the way, is a blood pressure medication, Cozaar, losartan. That's number 10 on blood pressure. I got it wrong, guys. One, two, three, four of the top 10 are blood pressure. Well, you can understand it. 50% of the people have high blood pressure. Making out part of the top 10 is Losec. You know what Losec is four? Acid reflux. Losec, almost 4%, Prilosec, Losec, almost 4% of the population are on that medication.

Let me finish with this. If you need Losec because you've got acid reflux, not because you have too much acid. It's you don't have enough. You don't have enough. Your body doesn't make enough. One of the things that will suppress acidity... Remember, you only want to be acidic in that pouch called your stomach. It's a furnace. You want it to mulch your food down to nothing, like everything can be absorbed rapidly once it gets to your small intestine. You need a good stomach, guys. There's nothing that will kill acidity in your stomach like sugar. This is why we see so much of it today. Guys, all you have to do is do a deduction study, deduction. In the 1950s, there was Tums. I don't know if it was 1950s, but I remember it in 1960s, Tums, Rolaids, but today, it's in the top 10 of drugs to suppress the acidity going up.

What are you talking about? That means I have too much acid. No, it starts with not enough, and then your body overcompensates. There's nothing that will suppress the acidity in your stomach like sugar and crappy carbohydrates. Give me 30 days of your life to see if I'm right. We have had thousands and thousands of people when they switch their diet able to get off antacids, and you know what, guys? Antacids, by the way, were never meant to be taken... If you would Google it, the side effects of Prilosec, of Losec, the purple pill, that stuff is dangerous, man, on long term. It suppresses acidity. Oh, jeez, I feel better. Yeah, but now you're not absorbing. You're not absorbing B-12. You're not absorbing your nutrients the way you should, so it's all temporary relief, but in the long run, it's dangerous, man. You got to fix the real problem.

Okay. So, that's your top 10. Okay? I'll post it now. I'll post these so you can see it for yourself. Okay. Guys, we appreciate you more than you know. Thanks for putting up with my rants. Somebody said, "Dr. Martin, you're very opinionated." Me? Moi? What? Yeah, I know. Tomorrow... I'm going to make an announcement today because I've got something going on there tomorrow, so we might flip tomorrow and either do it in the afternoon, or I'm going to take a day off. I'll post it. Okay? I'll post it and let you know. Definitely will not be tomorrow morning. Okay? Friday is Question and Answer Friday, so we want your questions in. Bring them in. Okay? We'll talk to you soon. We love you.

Announcer:  You've reached the end of another Doctor Is In Podcast, with your hosts, Doctor Martin Junior and Senior. Be sure to catch our next episode and thanks for listening!
